  1. The objective data I posted above doesn't necessarily agree with your subjective recollection. Thanks. I missed your post the first time, and stand corrected. I appreciate your contributions here
  2. Braun problems were mostly throwing, not fielding the ball. He made several great diving stops only to throw the ball 6 rows into the stands. He would be fine at 1B
  3. I am more disappointed that we didn't improve our bullpen depth at the Trade Deadline!
  4. Sure yeah, tell that to the Giants! (In Blue because I recognize it is just a small sample, still it was great to see him in the lineup and going deep tonight) Hey, I'm a Gerardo Parra fan, and have always admired his talent. Was pretty thrilled to see the Brewers trade for him. He's not a superstar but he is a good solid player who grinds out at-bats, plays plus defense and can help a team. He deserves to get some playing time
  5. Who cares about "rocking the boat" or "messing with Davis' confidence". He is a professional athlete and he has a terrible OBP vs RHP. I wouldn't just straight platoon him, but Parra should be getting starts vs the better RHP's. We're in a pennant race, go with the best percentages possible and hire a sports psychologist for Davis if he has a problem with that. Besides the slight percentage upgrade offensively of Parra>Davis vs RHP's, it is a huge defensive upgrade, and defense is incredibly important. Meanwhile, anytime Parra & Braun are in the same game, Braun should be in LF and Parra in RF. Leaving Braun in RF with Parra in the game is just plain silly as Parra is a vastly better RF than Braun. And again, Braun is a pro athlete and can get over himself if he doesn't like it. He has had plenty of experience in LF. Hire him a sports psychologist if he has a problem with that, too. These players need to do whatever is best for the team. The Brewers as an organization and RR especially need to be smarter about this kind of thing. This is not a rebuilding year, the Crew is in it to win it, they need to be smarter
  6. Regardless of who moves where in 2015, I sure would like to see Parra getting more playing time now. It is not as if we have been scoring a ton of runs. Having Davis start against Wainwright was dumb, and I don't want to see him start vs Lincecum tonight Davis this season: .284 OBP vs RHP, .357 OBP vs LHP (.604 SLG vs LHP). In the last 70 at-bats vs both LHP & RHP total he has a .270 OBP/.699 OPS
  7. Davis & Parra have practically identical career OPS numbers vs RHP, but Parra has much better BA & OBP numbers vs RHP and is a light years better defensive player than Davis.
  8. Davis has a OBP of .288 vs RHP Parra has a OBP of .335 vs RHP (career) Parra is vastly better defensively than either of our corner outfielders and has much more experience than Davis This is a pennant race we are in I suppose those who think Davis should start vs RHP also think Gennett should start vs LHP
  9. I think some of you are vastly overrating Khris Davis. I like him, too, and he has a lot of potential, but he's batting .232/.288/.723 vs RHP this year A .288 OBP is Yuni B bad/Johnny Estrada bad. And he is a liability defensively. Meanwhile Davis has a .962 OPS vs LHP Seems that a platoon is in order and Parra will likely get plenty of opportunities
  10. You think Khris Davis is going to start Friday night vs RHP Adam Wainwright? I'm betting it is Parra starting, hopefully in right with Braun moved back to left field.
  11. I think that the Brewers offered Jimmy Nelson, Clint Coulter & Tyler Thornburg (i.e. PTBNL) for David Price Tampa Bay countered with Nelson & Gennett No way do the Brewers trade Scooter We might see Nelson & Davis for 1.5 years of David Price
  12. I could see Khris Davis sitting vs the toughest RHP and being replaced late in games for defensive purposes, at the very least. Parra will be used more than strictly as a backup. Braun is probably banged up more than we know and could use an extra day or 2 off per week too
  13. I like this trade as I'm a big fan of Parra. He's got a cannon arm and a career .274 BA and .726 OPS vs RHP Can't help but think that Khris Davis might be part of an offer for Price
  14. Now I'm hearing that Tampa Bay is looking more at Nelson/Gennett/Thornburg and saying "keep Coulter" and Melvin won't move Scooter, so that is sticking point..... In my opinion David Price is exactly what could take the Brewers from playoff contender to pennant contender, but the price of Scooter Gennett & Jimmy Nelson might be too high....
  15. Brewers are going after David Price. I have a few contacts in pro baseball. Rumor is Tampa Bay wants Jimmy Nelson, Tyler Thornburg & Clint Coulter. If I were Doug Melvin I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. David Price for 1.5 years? Yes, please
  16. Apparently not. Especially a power hitter who is notoriously streaky and has hit well lately.
  17. Was at the game today. As others said Jeffress was very impressive. I could see him as a future closer Lohse was tremendous. His fastball & changeup deliveries are identical
  18. I printed that article, rolled it up in a ball and let my cats swat it around the house like a toy mouse. After they got done with it I threw it in the garbage. Best use of a Buster Olney article I could think of....
  19. If you trade Weeks, who plays 2B vs LHP?
  20. so, the "busy Monday" is that Jeffress is coming up? Or is there more coming?
  21. Garrett Jones .248 .317 .414 .730 100 Lyle Overbay .238 .315 .348 .663 84 Jones represents a slight upgrade over Overbay at first glance, until you realize that all 10 of his HR's are against RHP and he has a .791 OPS vs RHP
  22. One thing I'm watching with Braun is his walk rate. He has generally been a guy whose OBP is 60 points higher than his BA. This season it is 50 points higher than his BA. Last season in a small sample it was 74 points higher and it looked like he was turning the corner on taking more walks The sample size is still too small so far this season to read much into it, but I wonder if pitchers are just going after him more and challenging him, not fearing him like they used to. If that ends up being the case it'd be better to have Braun in the 2 hole, hitting in front of Lucroy If the thumb remains a constant issue and he is never again a 30-40 HR guy, he can still be very valuable as a .290-.310 hitter going oppo and moving runners over and driving them in, but that value will be much higher if he's a .380 OBP guy
  23. Braun is on pace for playing in 125 games, and on pace for ending the season with 20 HR's, 33 Doubles and a .872 OPS That is pretty good. Certainly not an elite level season. Hopefully he can have a great second half
  24. A good solid win. I like it Harper has incredible bat speed. He didn't even get that HR on the sweet spot and still launched it
