  1. Why would the Cardinals trade Allen Craig? (or Miller). Craig is under contract through 2017 with a team option for '18. Sure he's having an off year (still hitting LHP well though) but he has a proven track record and is only 29 years old
  2. *** small sample alert *** Now hitting .400 in his first 15 at-bats in AAA ball http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=zarrag001sha
  3. Looking forward to him being back!
  4. They might've been able to do that last year at the Trade Deadline. Jimmy Nelson in this year's rotation and you don't skip a beat (except you have a Top 10 prospect)
  5. Zarraga has now played 3 games with Nashville in AAA ball, going 4 for 12 with a Double
  6. How much of a signing bonus did Segura get when he signed with the Angels in 2007?
  7. Could see them trading Castro for pitching if Addison Russell continues to develop
  8. So far the Cubs seem like they are building the 2009 Brewers. Great hitting/not much pitching. The difference however is they have more $$$ than the Brewers have ever had, in order to buy pitching. If the plan is to build positional strength through the farm system and then sign bigtime pitching, that could work.
  9. He's a free swinger. MLB pitchers have adjusted to him, he needs to adjust back. Why throw him many strikes when he's just going to hack away? I think he'll adjust and improve quite a bit
  10. I think that is a very good point. Estrada's ERA would go way down pitching in Petco. You would think an MLB GM wouldn't be fooled by that, but it sure seems like some of them are
  11. I'm thrilled that the Lara signing is official. I have plenty of high hopes for him I would imagine that, since he's only 16, he'll play in a Dominican League for at least the next 2 years. Where can I follow stats to check his progress until he makes it to Rookie Ball?
  12. I would think they like Estrada better than Wang as a long reliever and pitching depth going into the stretch run.
  13. Beware of small sample statistics. Let us hope that Melvin/Ash/Roenicke recognize that 1B needs to be upgraded for the stretch run, despite whateer someone is hitting over the course of 20 games or whatever.
  14. He would still be a significant upgrade over Overbay/Reynolds
  15. Wondering if Scooter would be able to further develop his offensive game over the next few years by walking more?
  16. Platoons are fine, we just need to find a right hand hitting 2B who can play multiple positions
  17. 1B is a mistake except for the part about not giving Prince Fielder astronomical money. So I'd say he's batting .500 with 1B
  18. Shawn Zarraga is hitting .392 in AA ball with an OBP near .500 and has Doubles power with 15 Doubles in 57 games. A switch-hitting catcher who is throwing out over 40% of runners. Is there a chance this 25 year old has turned the corner and elevated into a top prospect? I'm always intrigued with players like Zarraga. Drafted in the 44th round and now hitting .392 in AA ball?! He hit .300 in Rookie Ball but then struggled the next season, but has been a good solid hitter other years.... http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=zarrag001sha
  19. I just hope they never expand it to include balls & strikes in postseason games or anything like that....
  20. C Kershaw F Hernandez M Tananka S Gray W Peralta That'd be my ideal starting 5 for the Brewers oh, wait, you mean realistically?
  21. To me Adam LaRoche would be an ideal type to trade for. High OBP, veteran with playoff experience, LH hitter as an upgrade for Overbay, having a career year doesn't hurt Unfortunately with the Nationals in 1st place they aren't going to get rid of LaRoche in a playoff run.
  22. Scooter has a OPS below .400 vs LHP. We absolutely need Rickie Weeks
  23. I agree with that. Also agree on putting in a LHP in that spot
  24. The Cardinals & Cubs have been mortal enemies for decades but with the Cubs being such a poor team as of late the Cardinals fans needed someone new to hate
