  1. I've seen Turang described as "Christian Yelich at Shortstop". I'd take that! I think there's a chance a few of the the top high school pitchers fall to Milwaukee. I'd love to see them take a high risk/high reward RHP like Rocker & Hankins. Pay them above slot and roll the dice. As far as a lack of consensus on top talent, I'm surprised Nick Madrigal isn't considered that guy this year. He looks like a HOF talent to me.
  2. I'd be thrilled to get Shields if the return isn't significant in trading for him. It'll all come down to asking price. He's not a guy you count on to be a TOR arm in a pennant race, but as starting pitching depth and an upgrade to the bottom of the rotation? Absolutely
  3. Jim Callis said he had one scout drop a "more athletic version of Mark Kotsay" comp on Kelenic. I thought that was interesting. I'm biased because he's a local kid, but I see Kelenic as more of a "slightly slower version of Justin Upton." He is a true 5 Tool player.
  4. If Kelenic fell all the way to the Brewers it'd be amazing. That kid already plays with a lot of fire, add a big chip on his shoulder and he could be unstoppable. I've seen reports that say that his swing will produce a high batting average but not enough HR's. Those people saying that are clueless
  5. If this was about my post, I just meant putting him on the dl now instead of waiting 4 days hoping it gets better before finding out he has to go on the dl anyway. No, not at all criticizing your post. I agree in general that I think the Brewers are getting smarter about utilizing the 10 Day DL. I'm just sincerely concerned about Davies' health through the rest of this season and especially over the next several weeks vs a tough(er) schedule.
  6. I suspect he really is dealing with injury issues much more so than this being mostly about DL manipulation.
  7. Ryan Braun, with two days rest, as a DH vs a LHP. I like the odds of Braun having a big game....
  8. Hankins, & Rocker are Vanderbilt recruits and Vandy works hard at keeping their players. Considering the success of Vandy pitchers in MLB (Sonny Gray, David Price, Walker Buehler etc) there is some risk in drafting a pitcher committed to that school, that they won't sign. I believe Banfield is a Vandy commit too Off topic but if all 3 of them refuse to sign and show up on campus, the Commodores might be a true powerhouse for a few years (as they are already very very good)
  9. Yes, I've seen him play a lot. He's really, really good. I would guess he'll be a 2nd Round pick tops (similar to Ben Rortvedt who is from the same conference) but there are other high school catchers rated higher (Banfield for instance)
  10. I'd trade Hader for Trout. 56 games into the season and Trout already has a 5 WAR
  11. What if we never win a World Series!? The Value of Mark's investment in the Brewers has gone up $750 million!!!! Somehow I think they'll survive and his poor wife won't have to go without caviar on their yacht.
  12. At the time, I trusted Counsell. He has made so many correct calls with bullpen management that I trusted the move....
  13. It is not like the game got postponed in the middle of the last at bat. We know the answer, Knebel got the last out. We won the game. I'll take the W over any "could have should have" argument. Counsell said in the post game press conference that Hader had already faced 9 batters and he was struggling a little and he didn't want anyone to face him a 2nd time. Works for me....
  14. AdamBr - good point. Call it a "gut feeling" or call it a "fools wishes", either way I don't care because I don't take this stuff personally, but I honestly think it could happen. Even without precedent because I really think this past offseason freaked out, and I mean severely freaked out a ton of agents & players. You would think Machado would get a huge payday in the offseason, but he hasn't been a consistent superstar, there are metrics that say he isn't a great defensive Shortstop, and even though he's only 25 he has had his share of injuries. He might want A-Rod money but he has not produced anywhere close to the stratosphere of A-Rod prior to A-Rod's huge payday signing with Texas. A-Rod was looked at as the next Honus Wagner. Or Barry Bonds at Shortstop. A lot of teams might look at Machado more like the next Scott Rolen... Seriously (and Rolen was criminally underrated in my opinion, look up some of his seasons) If Machado's agent has an asking price and the Brewers meet it, it could get done.
  15. Oh, Mark needs to just win a World Series or two and get over himself. As if the franchise can't withstand a deficit for a season or three and then renegotiate the TV contract and raise ticket prices a little when the Brewers are World Champs. Mark's already quadrupled his initial investment. The value of the Brewers has increased $750 million. If he can't figure out a way to do this he's either an idiot of playing the fans like chumps all the way to the bank.
  16. I trust in Counsell. He's made the right moves with the bullpen so far this season
  17. Gave up on Facebook. Listening on the radio Hey I thought some of you guys said Domingo sucks? Oh well... Even a broken clock is right twice a day, keep trying
  18. 7 years $210-$230 million, front loaded with $120 million over the first 3 years, opt out after 4 years. It can be done.
  19. I don't know. Big contracts are risky in general. This is not a good time to be a player getting long term contracts, especially for position players. With Harper, likely Kershaw, and a bunch of other top players coming on the market, the chances of Machado getting A) a 7 year contract B) a guarantee to stick at SS C) on a team likely to contend Are not as vast & wide as you might think. I really think the Brewers might have a shot. Especially if they get creative and maybe front load the contract with a player opt out after 4 years (so Machado could re-enter the free agent market after his age 30 season if he wants)

  21. Facebook Live is a relatively pathetic piece of technology. Thumbs down emoji
  22. You give Machado his full asking price right now (I'm guessing 7 years $210 Million) and he'll sign. Why risk injury in the 2nd Half which could effect his bargaining power when he can get the full contract right now?
