  1. And baserunning. And fundamentals. And defense. And situational hitting. And injuries. Other than that, we're pretty good.
  2. For whatever reason this game didn't bother me as much. Maybe I've just accepted that the Brewers are not great at fundamentals and that isn't going to change anytime soon. And I've accepted that we are still in a rebuilding phase. What I liked is that we competed strongly in a close game with a team that has the best record in Baseball. Loved seeing Aguillar hit the ball well, and Perez & Braun go deep.
  3. Hopefully Cain & Piña are healed up enough to not only play but also be valuable contributors. The Mets have been playing great so far this year but are down 2 catchers. Should be an interesting series
  4. I think part of reason that the WIAA ended summer Baseball is an attempt to stop high school players from only playing travel ball. There's been an increasing amount of kids from schools that play spring high school Baseball that don't play for their high school and instead just play in the Hitters Spring League and/or the Perfect Game spring league in Iowa.
  5. Braun from age 28-32 accumulated 17.9 WAR while earning $55+ million dollars. Yelich is vastly more valuable
  6. I would argue that Yelich is more valuable than Braun in his prime, because (hindsight being 20/20) I doubt it was a secret among MLB GM's that Braun was a steroid user and thus a suspension risk as well as an injury risk if/when testing got stricter. Throw in that Yelich is light years better defensively and a lefty hitter and I would take a 26 year old Yelich over a 26 year old Braun (again looking at the full picture) I'll be shocked if Yelich from age 28-32 doesn't out produce Braun's age 28-32 seasons
  7. adambr2, I agree strongly that I'd rather have Yelich than Gray. There's no telling whether Gray will be an effective pitcher moving forwards or if he'll be an "ace". To be able to have Yelich for 5 years was a tremendous way to leverage Brinson & others prospect rankings
  8. At least he's finally playing some 1B, which some of us called for years ago, such as when we decided we had to trade Khris Davis.
  9. In Lewis Brinson's first 50 at bats with the Marlins, he's hitting .140 with a .189 OBP, .329 OPS
  10. Albers & Hader are good. Jeffress is hopefully going to be good. You either need more starters to go deeper (unlikely) or you need more bullpen depth... But this is a rebuilding year so it doesn't matter, right?
  11. Exactly. It is extremely difficult to make one of the best high school age travel teams in the Milwaukee area (Hitters, Stiks, Prospects). The competition for roster spots is fierce.
  12. Yes, because they are competing for spots, even on D3 rosters, with players from other states who are playing high level travel Baseball.
  13. Not to overstate the obvious but we need more bullpen help
  14. They got 'er done... Nice win with a make shift lineup Anybody recall what Hader's pitch count was when he was taken out?
  15. If Braun continues to hit below .200, once Yelich comes back will Braun sit vs RHP? Even if Santana is putting up better stats than Braun?
  16. Villar is the most underrated player on the Brewers, by far...
  17. Facebook Live isn't working for me. Honestly not depressed about it.
  18. If you don't want to outright Drake, there has to be other options. Braun-Perez-Santana has to be a historically bad defensive outfield. Even Villar in CF would be better than Perez.
  19. Why wouldn't they keep Phillips and option one of our many AAAA relief pitchers?
  20. This is unfortunately true. The best players, that really want to play, play travel ball. If they can afford the monetary and time commitments. Then you have your second tier players or players who just can't commit to 40 games in two months are left to play on crappy rec league/county league teams with kids that just don't give a crap and it does nothing for them. A vast majority of the 2nd Tier players are also playing travel ball all summer, too. On the plus side, this development eliminates the stranglehold that high school coaches have on a players' future & development. There are of course some great high school coaches in Wisconsin, but there's a lot of really poor high school coaches too. Players now have the opportunity to get trained by former pros and former college players, and don't have to rely on only their high school program to get seen and get opportunities to play college Baseball. With travel ball & showcase opportunities, kids have lots of options to get better and advance.
  21. Travel Ball has taken over the summer for Baseball in Wisconsin.
  22. I would agree that the Brewers future hopes is with their pitching. I've been impressed with what I've seen of Burnes, T Williams, & Houser. Haven't seen Peralta but heard great things. Chacin is really just a bridge to when those guys are all ready...
  23. Chacin is what he is... He is a solid #5 who will have a 4.25-4.75 ERA or so. There is value in that. Not a bad signing at all. No kidding, huh? Definitely no Correa, Springer, Bregman coming up in the Brewers system. High hopes for Hiura, and there is some potential among our pitchers on the farm, but... Yeah... We ain't the Astros
