  1. I strongly agree. And I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.
  2. Yount's slash lines from age 24-33 .305/.365/.485 135 OPS+ 55.3 WAR, 5.5 WAR per season Braun's slash lines from age 24-33 .300/.364/.532 137 OPS+ 43.3 WAR, 4.3 WAR per year
  3. Congrats to Braun on the 1000th RBI
  4. It is hard to accurately estimate how big Travel Ball has become. I would say at least half of all Wisconsin High School Division 1 Varsity players play Travel Ball in the summer, and that might be a low estimate. And then there is the increasing amount of players who don't play high school ball at all and only do travel ball & training.
  5. "We play too much Baseball" = No more World Series rings for you
  6. Couldn't travel ball teams adjust their schedules to the new format? You would give the opportunity to kids to play high school baseball and still have plenty of summer to get in your tournaments for travel ball. They wouldn't do that. Way too much $$$ on the line. And the players want to go to the tournaments that the college scouts attend The bigger joke about youth/high school Baseball in Wisconsin is that in a lot of school districts, if you play football, you really only have the month of June for Baseball. HS football starts up 3x a week practices in July! The high school athlete who is serious about Baseball in Wisconsin is really disadvantaged as compared to much of the rest of the country, and has to make tough choices as a result.
  7. Hybrid season wouldn't work as the best players all play Travel Ball all summer long starting in June This year is worse than usual, but April Baseball in Wisconsin is usually a disaster. Lots of rainouts or games called due to cold. Or you are playing in 45 degree weather. Then in May you have so many make up games that your team rarely practices and pitcher's arms are stretched to the limit with teams playing 5+ games a week. (It is extremely rare to see a high school coach who protects pitcher's arms. They'll have a kid pitch 80+ pitches in a game and then go right back to playing 3B or SS the next day. Completely ridiculous) Over the next several years you will see an increasing amount of high school players not playing for their high school and instead playing in an indoor spring league. A few enterprising businessmen will start building sportsdomes in southern Wisconsin, and teams will get their games in, indoors... But that is 10-15 years away
  8. I'm a big Villar fan, he's one of my favorite players on the Brewers actually. Villar, Yelich & Hader I know Villar is never gonna be Jackie Robinson, but the hatred towards him here is amusing...
  9. Barnes' appearances are always scary, to me... But against a AAAA team a 2 inning save can be done Bonus mutton chops for the win (BMCFTW)
  10. And just stole second.... Unlike Scooter, or Sogard Hmmmm
  11. Oh the irony that Villar would have gotten to the ground ball that he just put by Scooter!
  12. It takes a village to raise a 2nd baseman Well played, sir!
  13. Villar with the great turn on that double play and more arm strength than most MLB 2B's to finish it...
  14. Arcia... Man oh man if that kid could ever figure it out at the plate
  15. Perez with a single and a nice catch in left, Brewerfan.net heads explode Does not compute
  16. Thunder Snow here in Madison... Random I know, but still crazy
  17. If you check out his BABIP and contact rate stats so far this year, you'll find that despite his (now higher than) 150 wRC+ this year he's actually been pretty unlucky. I think Thames' success in April might be evidence that, when healthy and not worn down by the long season, he can rake. Just a question of can he stay healthy for a full season. If he can, he'll probably have the highest OPS on the team. Good point, and all the more reason to sit him vs LHP's
  18. The players dictate the lineup. Thames has solidified starting vs all RHP's moving forwards. This could get real interesting for Braun when everyone is healthy
  19. I like Cain's at bats, a lot. He makes contact, gets on base, works counts. I have zero complaints about his offense. For 2018-2020 he will likely be good enough in CF, and thus a plus value. That alone, to me, makes his 5 year deal worth it. Anything you get in years 4 & 5 are a bonus.
  20. I really doubt Cain is in the Top 20 defensively among CF's in MLB. His value is in offense and being "good enough" to play CF
  21. Gold Glove in LF is legit. That doesn't make him a CF
  22. Yes. I remember all the debates as to which player do you give a long term contract to? And the correct answer was: neither
  23. Not to be Captain Obvious, but: it is no wonder why Braun was on PED's, he cannot stay healthy without them
