  1. Waiting for a Vaccine seems futile. There may never be a Vaccine. Covid-19 is a Coronavirus, just like the common cold is a Coronavirus. Scientists have tried for decades to come up with Vaccines for the common cold. The solutions may end up being in treatment, medicine and herd immunity. In that scenario, it will be 18 months of waves of off and on quarantine and releasing restrictions. What we need are 350 million tests, to see who has antibodies and who doesn’t. Until then it’s all just speculation.
  2. Igor67 : what you said makes sense. I would say in January, February and early March there were many Americans dying from what was called “upper respiratory illness” or “flu like symptoms”, especially the elderly and those with other health issues. From most accounts, it was a particularly bad flu season this past winter across the USA. There was zero testing for Covid during that time I’m not saying this as some sort of excuse to open up the country right now. I do think it is extremely naive to think that “Patient 0” in the USA was in Washington state in March. As contagious as this virus is, exactly zero percent of people brought it back from China during the months of December, January, & February? The likelihood of that is well beyond any sort of mathematical possibility. Thousands & thousands of Americans were going back and forth to China during that time.
  3. I continue to believe there is way more widespread herd immunity than is being reported. A lot of us have already had this, dating back to early February and likely as far back as December as reported in California. Thousands of Americans were commuting back and forth to China during that time period. Until everyone can be tested for antibodies, we won’t know for certain, and shelter in place is the best thing we can do at this time.
  4. Scientists are saying that if we never did anything with social distancing, 1-2 million Americans would die. Comparing this to the flu (other than, perhaps, the Spanish Flu of 1918) is, unfortunately, irrelevant, at least at this time. By April of 2021, with enough herd immunity and available treatment or vaccines, then perhaps we can make comparisons to flu.
  5. I don’t think there’ll be fans in stadiums this season, based on what scientists are saying about how long this might last. We’ll see if MLB chooses to play without fans. I’d think the TV ratings would be very high, with everyone stuck at home.
  6. Playing a lot of Strat-O-Matic Baseball
  7. My guess is they won’t test you if you don’t have a fever and there is nasal stuff going on I’m hoping at some point for people like my family who already might have had it, there will be blood tests to show if we indeed have antibodies... for what it’s worth, we’re very much staying home, doing the social distancing thing, not at all thinking “we already had it so there’s nothing to worry about” If I did know I already had it and am no longer contagious though, I would for sure volunteer at food pantries or somewhere where I can help... Comprehensive testing will give us, as a nation, much to work with...
  8. My hope is that there is already some herd immunity here in the USA that we don’t (yet) know about because of lack of testing. There were thousands and thousands of Americans flying back and forth to China up until the travel ban. 2-3 weeks ago I had what I thought was a “bad cold”. Sore throat, dry cough, no nasal stuff, high temps. It was the worst cold I’ve had in a long long time. Lots of people in Madison had it, it ran rampant through the schools. I’m putting it at 50/50 it was Covid-19.
  9. I miss Baseball so much that I’m having fun watching my kid play as the Brewers in the new MLB The Show video game that just came out. video game Keston Hiura has been raking against RHP’s
  10. The White House today said that “things will get back to normal by July or August” but didn’t elaborate on exactly what that means. The entire city of San Francisco just shut down for 3 weeks. Any thought of Baseball actually starting up again in 4-6 weeks seems very unlikely.
  11. There is something to be said for the summer sunshine helping make things better. Not saying that it will eliminate a worldwide pandemic, but even during the Spanish Flu in 1918 scientists found that patients who received regular sunshine and fresh air recovered more quickly. It is Mother Nature’s way Here’s hoping we have summer Baseball and can root on the Brewers!
  12. Last week my wife was making fun of me that I still had some World Series Games and the All Star Game on our DVR. Now at least I have some Baseball to watch... I would imagine pitchers will need to “restart” and need an almost full month and get ramped back up if this goes any longer than expected
  13. It’ll be interesting to see if they shorten the season if this goes on, as many health care experts have predicted, beyond the 2-4 weeks.
  14. An extremely impressive press conference all the way around. Congrats to Yelich, Stearns & Mark for getting it done. They were working on the contract negotiations since Halloween!
  15. 6-9 years from now, if MLB continues its financial success, $25 million will likely get you a utility player and an average set up man. The top free agents will be signing for $40-$50 million a year. In other words, there is every reason to believe that, based on inflation, the contract that Yelich signed will be team friendly throughout the length of the deal.
  16. I’m not convinced Black can consistently throw strikes enough to be a MLB player Not to overstate the obvious, but Knebel coming back 100% would be absolutely huge for the 2020 season!
  17. You cannot assume that Rendon would have signed with the Brewers for the same money he signed for with the Angels
  18. Halfway through this deal there will be a DH in the NL, most likely....
  19. So this takes him through his age 36 year, with an option for age 37 It’s a tremendous deal!
  20. As I get closer to the season I distance myself from this topic. I guess I have to get my offseason rants out of my system but when it comes down to it I’m gonna root for my Brewers, and will just resign myself to the reality that they aren’t going to spend as much as I’d like them to.

  22. I would guess the number of MLB players that are truly outraged about what the Astros did is extremely small. We want to believe all these guys really care about winning but the vast majority of them only care that the check clears. In my opinion, you are on the right path, but go a little further. The pitchers that faced cheating Astros had their stats negatively effected, which in turn hurts their earning power. The Astros are gonna get beaned. A lot.
