    the context for when I used "feast or famine" was in describing the top half of the order vs the bottom half. not the worst problem to have given the cost of upgrading poor talent to mediocre is far cheaper than mediocre to good.

    It's misleading to compare the pre-injury Rengifro to the current Rengifro. There is no evidence of him being the same player. In half a season in 2024, Rengifro had 24 steals, on pace for about 48. His pace post-injury is about 10. His pre-injury OPS (24-25) has dropped about 200 points (~770 to ~570). This year is even lower. He was hitting 16-17 HRs. This year he has 0. In short, there's no compelling evidence of him turning it around meaningfully over Pratt/Williams, and he is a bat-first player who isnt hitting.

    This will never happen, but I wonder about the trade value of Mitchell, or maybe Frelick. Not exactly selling high, but what kind of interest would there be for orgs like Detroit to get multiple years from a proven player? Lara's surge combined with Lockridge return and the need to get Vaughn and Mitchell in the lineup creates somewhat of a crowded OF right now, despite the fact we are playing Perkins. Then we have Payne and Adamczewski not far behind. I like Mitchell but he could be a nice redundant piece to use to get some pitching.

    I think this is where we struggle with the current choice. Pratt / Williams are probably no worse than lateral on offense and likely an upgrade on defense. So why not grow on the job, especially if you’re needed in the postseason

    Payne's HR makes it 11 in just 129 ABs.. thats quite close to the pace of Fischer, except that he's 3 years younger and plays CF

    sincere question: Does the Brewers' approach in tweaking players to get more stuff out of them lend itself to a higher breakdown relative to other teams?
