  1. question: since Pratt is signed long term, his clock is already ticking, whereas Williams isnt, correct? pratt seems the better fielder and they are both about equal right now as RH hitters, so i dont know why choose Williams over Pratt.
  2. yeah with a 750ish OPS he is ahead of Turang at this point. not much left to prove as he is also exceeding his AA numbers
  3. that the brewers keep winning with this much pitching out, with this many holes in the lineup and so much talent piling up in the minors just means they still have a lot of upside to tap into
  4. brewers FO have proven they can see things the rest of baseball doesnt. id love to see the younger guys get a chance, but im guessing its about maximizing trade value and service time. If they can win 7/8 without a big chunk of pitchers and with several holes in the lineup, they can buy time for whatever moves they have planned. Bring up some of these other guys once they force the issue. but yeah, gotta believe Leonard, Lara, Pratt and Williams could give us a lot more pop right now
  5. free mlb tv today... can flip over to watch the chisox finish the scrubs
  6. im mostly curious to hear about velocity. his control is abysmal right now but i would think he can figure that out.
  7. there might be something to this strategy of having him pitch 162 games
  8. I guess it really depends on whether Woody and/or QP can get healthy enough to compete effectively and long enough to build confidence to stick with for the playoff run. Wouldnt expect anything significant happening until close to the deadline.
  9. im a huge fan of Claude and been using it as my primary AI for the past year, but its not the best tool for research. Grok and Perplexity for research. Chourio was #1: https://www.mlb.com/news/jackson-chourio-is-brewers-first-no-1-prospect
  10. I think Sproat is built for the pen also. similar game to Ashby and cant go deep into games
  11. I get the feeling they are comfortable filling the infield from within unless a favorable deal falls in their laps. I think pitching is more likely. Too many question marks between Koenig, Priester, Woodruff, Woodford, Megill. Zerpa out. They dont trust the AAA arms yet. Sproat seems more suited for the pen right now. This is a solid group for the regular season but is it enough for playoffs where top of rotation matters? Are they going to approach playoffs with low MLB experience in the starting pitchers?
  12. seems with Mitchell, once the book was out on him not hitting the high fastball, he's kind of fallen apart across the board. Maybe some time at AAA could fix that, but its going to be Ortiz-ugly if he stays up trying to work it out

  14. Cubs had a massive lead over the Brewers this time last year and then crashed. Brewers have had more than their share of injuries this year but should be in good shape if QP / Wood are able to return
  15. yeah the brewers did seem interested in signing him before he got too big but there didnt seem to be movement in Miz's camp and Miz seems to be betting on himself to stay healthy and be an ace.
  16. i dont see the brewers giving up a top-tier talent like fischer. They can offload from a position of strength at OF/1B
  17. Seems time to deal some excess 1B/OF for pitching to make room for some of these guys. Black and Bauers should have some value. Not like we dont have another wave of outfielders coming right behind them, either.
  18. brewers look really gunshy on these challenges right now
  19. That was my belief to start the season as well. However, thats not how its playing out and maybe i shouldnt have qualified it as "starting" pitching but another reliable arm somewhere. Last year's starting pitchers were Peralta, Priester, Miz, Quintana, and Woody. Only Miz is standing right now from that group and he's even sidelined at the moment. We had high expectations for Zerpa. Koenig gone. Sproat doesnt seem to be ready. So yeah, lots of potential in the minors, but I think they will look for another arm that can be plugged in.
  20. Arnold made pretty clear when they traded away Durbin/Mona/Siegler that they were expendable because they didnt want to block prospects (Pratt, Made, Fischer, Pena, etc). Then they signed Pratt, making their intent clear. Everyone else is just a very temporary fix and someone is going to be filling 3B/SS soon from within. Brewers need starting pitching right now and not much else.
  21. yeah its actually remarkable what this team has been able to sustain without a good number of their best players. In the past, a single one of them would be enough to tank the team. If they can hold serve with these guys, they could be sitting pretty in a couple months.
  22. probably not the best time for snap judgment on a team when 3 of the top 5 OPS guys from last year's team are injured and you've just faced both Cy Young winners back to back
  23. shhh. im trying to get to my first T-Rats game of the season next week
