  1. Yeah, back in the days of (what was it called?? Toby's Top 50 or something like that?). the Brewers would have one or two legitimate prospects, and a bunch of guys that would never sniff a big-league roster. This system has future MLB contributors all over the place.
  2. I think so. They paid a lot of Di Turi, too. Scouting reports suggest he projects to stay at short, great peripherals. He will of course need to show it at A-ball before we go too wild, but it looks promising.
  3. I didn't get to watch yesterday's game (unusual!) but it looks like a "getaway" game boxscore, which makes me think the umps' zone was big. I also think a lot of us are irritated by losing 2 of 3 to the Marlins. I also agree with Underachiever. When I only watch Brewer games, I don't realize the offensive challenges that most teams have, or go through at different points in the season. For example, the Yankees got shut out 5 times in April.
  4. I would probably be willing to give up Quero AND Misiorowski. Luzardo is really, really good. 3 seasons (including 2024) of control.
  5. I would do that deal. I think it's "fair," but I also think that some other team will be willing to go bigger. Probably the Cubs.
  6. I'm genuinely curious what the Brewers can do with cast-offs like Davies. If the Brewers get him, then they must think that they can improve his results, and I would trust the move, but I don't really care one way or the other.
  7. Hmmm... Brent Suter? Seems like an average soft-tossing control artist. Looks like his FB plays up. I like those players on this Brewers team. Maybe one of our Latin IFers? Areinamo?
  8. Totally. Turang's current profile wouldn't hack it before 2023. But now, he not only has a chance of getting on base with line drives and ground balls, but his premium defense and baserunning acumen suddenly make that style of player really valuable, and I suspect those players will begin getting paid, thus incentivizing more players to play to their natural ability rather than try to become sluggers.

Lots of good players that I believe will one day earn WAR in the big leagues. It's hard to parse out the criteria. Age, floor, ceiling, personal-preference/scouts/rankings. I tried to not make it about my "favorite" prospects, as many of them I left out. I also had a hard time with guys that are or were recently injured (e.g. Quero/Blalock/Henderson) or guys with limited defensive utility (e.g. Black/Clarke), or guys that just don't seem to have much physical projection (e.g. most of the Latin infielders). In addition, I don't watch these guys, I only follow boxscores/stats/scouting reports, so I, unlike a guy like Zarr, can't justify strong opinions on the vagaries of scouting, such as infielder's arms/gloves/feet. The young pitchers coming up were also really difficult. There is some serious pitching depth throughout the system, both SPs and RPs.
  10. Oh knock it off with the lame free-speech stuff... Freedom of speech is also being free to tell people to stop posting the same stuff over and over... We're not censoring anything, as a non-moderator, I'm just saying we're tired of it. Take it to the Debate Board.
  11. Having a resident scout on this site is sooooo awesome. Thanks for all of your contributions!!
  12. I want a 6-man rotation. I think it is only a matter of time before most teams have six-man rotations with multiple long relievers. I also suspect that MLB will increase the rosters again to 27 to help make it happen. What's true, however, is that the league wants more offense AND star SPs. Probably not the thread to once again discuss it, but I still love the idea of losing the DH once your starter is out of the game. It increases that chance that managers will roll the dice with their starters, leading to bigger innings, which would off-set the loss of offense from losing the DH. AND reintroduces the drama of late-inning matchups and having good pinch-hitters.
  13. The depth in the minors is remarkable as well. Hopefully all of the org's depth allows the Brewers to avoid having to trade valuable prospects for bad relievers at the deadline (e.g. Daniel Norris trade).
  14. The pitching staffs in Wisconsin and Carolina are loaded. Really pushes out a bunch of decent hitting prospects. Just my opinion, of course. With the overall lack of offense at those levels, though, I wonder if I am being too harsh on the bats and artificially bumping up the arms.
  15. Yes, Norris... ugh. Can we please stop bringing it up, it makes me nauseous.
  16. It changes the center of balance in relationship to where you grip the bat, so yes, it's a balance thing. I'm always surprised that more players don't use bats like that. We all choked up on a bat a few times in our lifetimes. The improvement in one's ability to control the bat is stark.
  17. Perhaps. Although it's funny. Now that we have some pretty decent depth in the organization, I don't feel any rush to move guys. Now obviously, I'm not watching them everyday, so I have no idea how advanced they are in their development, but it looks like Di Turi can at least be counted on as a guy with great BB/K ratios. Bitoni, though, should stick in AZ for awhile, IMO. He's only had about 80 professional ABs, and his K-rate is... not good.
  18. 2 to 4 weeks isn't so bad. It probably gives just enough time/leash for the other guys (Dunn/Bauers) to prove their worth, or risk being removed from the 26 man upon Hoskins' return.
  19. It was a bad trade at the time, and my only hope was that Olson would end up washing out. Obviously, that hasn't been the case.
  20. I don't know why this is, but I don't want to leave this question on page 2. I'm "glad" this is the case, because I've felt all year that the Brewers pitchers were getting squeezed. (No, I didn't feel that way last year).
  21. Makes me wonder if there's any connection with Yelich's chronic back issues, being that he's acknowledged taking tons and tons of swings.
  22. As he mentions, "SSS," but these peripherals suggest... dare I say, intrigue? Guarded excitement?
  23. Makes me wonder if the Brewers style of play (BIP, Baserunning, speed), lends itself to big games here and there because the opposing run-prevention unit just can't deal with SBs, lack of double-plays, etc. I, for one, would love it if teams could win in different ways in MLB. It would create more fun-drama with matchups.
  24. The article didn't mention anything about robo-umps, which I think is a mistake. Those hitters have such a refined eye with the "perfect" strike zone. Take those pitches in MLB, and they strike out.
