  1. Took until that last batter to see a couple of good off-speed pitches in a row. Just enough to make you wonder if it's worth it to send him back out.
  2. Finally something off-speed (if 89 is that) and got him to pop out. Yeah, doesn't look like he's planning to stay in long.
  3. Great! Both are needed. Damn the 0-14 and 0-15 against Scherzer - Braun starts a playoff game every time, and in any defensive game Cain may just win the game in the field.
  4. Suter has been named the NL Reliever of the Month for September. Only a surprise if you've been tuned out for the past four weeks. https://www.mlb.com/news/brandon-workman-brent-suter-relievers-of-month
  5. Thanks, Faria. Also, if you don't come back, none of us would mind.
  6. They have to fly halfway across the country for a one game playoff against the hottest team in baseball and their playoff-tested ace. If by some miracle they win, they fly all the way across the country to start a series against the obvious best team in the league, the second hottest team in baseball, and their entire staff of playoff-tested aces completely rested. But yeah, let's see how long we can stay in Denver. I hear it's lovely this time of year!
  7. As soon as Williams is actually supposed to be a bum he becomes a competent pitcher. Ugh!
  8. Should be an easy decision to get him off the 40.
  9. I suppose we can end a half inning sooner if Burnes blows it.
  10. Should have pulled Houser before the third and he could have been a pen option on Tuesday.
  11. Saw Haudricourt noted the other day that home NL wild card teams are 2-5. He theorized that pitching matchup has mattered more than location. So we go there but they can't pitch Scherzer, deal? Actually, I just hate how impossible a Cincinnati-Denver-Washington-if win Los Angeles road trip sounds. Got to wear the team down eventually. A couple days at home would surely help. A couple off days followed by a trip to Atlanta would be the best.
  12. I like our chances better with the B team, if they're the ones who haven't lost 8 in a row. Would be a bonus if they'd just fire Maddon now and let someone fill in who won't do more harm over-managing.
  13. I doubt the Phillies owner threw that much money out and ever thought he'd get a losing team in return.
  14. Bob Uecker to the visitor's clubhouse...Uecker to the visitor's clubhouse.
  15. Back to back playoff appearances for the first time since...well, here's another 1982 reference.
