  1. Why? So he can stand out in RF, play marginal defense and not hit for any power while showing horrendous plate discipline? Perez can do that. He must have really worked on his defense if it's become marginal!
  2. We can go get Lopez. He's been down long enough and isn't hot garbage.
  3. Meaningless 9th inning home run? So that's why Braun stayed in the game, he relishes those.
  4. Wilkerson might be getting the start today, after we take our mulligan.
  5. 2017 Arcia: .277/.324/.407 2018 Arcia: .197/.231/.251 2017 Santana: .278/.371/.505 2018 Santana: .249/.313/.354 2016 Villar: .285/.369/.457 2017 Villar: .241/.293/.372 2018 Villar: .258/.302/.380 Do other organizations have this many players who regress into nothing after a breakout season at an age where they should be getting better?
  6. Maybe tomorrow our 12 man roster can defeat the Reds' 25 man roster.
  7. He has an option, right? Don't see how he can supplant our current five based on how he's been this year.
  8. Classic Arcia game. His motto: no hits for me, no hits for you!
  9. For those of us on Gameday only, what the heck happened? Votto was arguing a borderline strike call. Wouldn't shut up and eventually Kratz seems to have told him to quit his *******'. Votto takes his helmet off, Kratz stands up, get in each other's faces, benches empty, bullpens clear for all of 30 seconds. Home plate umpire did nothing. Only when Votto was back in the box (still whining) did another empire stop play to issue warnings.
  10. Pathetic umpiring. Throw him out. Then a delayed warning had to come from another umpire to stop us from throwing at him...
  11. If neither stays in the rotation permanently, should be able to keep the innings down with all the shuffling of Peralta and Woodruff. Sacrifice is routine and consistency, which may be a trade-off they're willing to take. Logan was garbage. Glad they're moving on.
  12. Thought this was really cool. Not sure I've ever heard the full audio from an intense ejection situation before. Quite interesting as well that if I were to watch without sound I think I may draw a different conclusion and feel the umpire appeared a bit aggressive, whereas with the audio I feel he handled it very well. For context, this was in May 2016, and "the situation" and "MLB did nothing to that guy" refer to the Chase Utley takeout slide that broke Ruben Tejada's leg in the previous postseason.
  13. I like getting Arcia at bats where he isn't hurting the MLB club. He's managed to be brutal enough that it eclipses his defense. The other half of that would be canning Coles, but I'm not holding out hope. Bringing Sogard back is unfortunate. Something will have to give there - a middle infield of Saladino, Villar, Perez, and Sogard is just sad. Especially once Saladino's hot streak ends.
  14. I hope Kratz is for AAA. If it's a stopgap until Nottingham is healthy there's no reason to not just stay with Bandy. And if he's actually intended to be the backup catcher, LOL. So hoping Nottingham (if healthy) or Bethancourt is coming up.
  15. She does well. Maybe a little wooden at times, but that's fine. The sideline reporter is something to not be annoyed by rather than what you tune in to watch.
  16. @Haudricourt Stearns said illness is also a basis to go on DL, so, "We'd need to work through the severity of Chase's (illness). If Chase is not going to be able to pitch tomorrow, then his illness is probably going to last some time." Sounds like they might use the DL to get the roster spot if Anderson doesn't recover quickly. Only realistic option to call up to start is Peralta, who was scratched from his start tonight in case that needs to happen.
  17. Rough. Sounds like he may have been the pick to get called up as soon as today too. The two BBs all year worried me even opposite the hit streak, but I'd have gladly rolled with Dubon.
  18. Off days are good with a banged up team and tired bullpen.
  19. Hoover as well I guess you could say Perez too. He's so into pitching he even hits like a pitcher.
  20. Quite the contrast watching every Cubs hitter making it tough to get them out. With a brand new hitting coach, because not making it back to the World Series is enough to get the boot. When Coles has atrocious offense the entire second half last year, we hold him blameless, break the bank and sell the farm to change the players.
  21. Nice job by Arcia. They were counting on him to chase and pull. He didn't fall for it.
  22. Anyone watch on MLB.TV and about to lose their mind because of the endless "Play Ball" ads during every timeout? They could not possibly be more annoying.
