  1. Just realized it was the same series as the 9-0 comeback I posted above. Would have been a treat to experience that. Strange cycle history for the Brewers - Moeller's is still the only one out of seven to be at home. And the last three: Moeller, a backup catcher who normally couldn't record one hit, backup outfielder Jody Gerut, and George Kottaras, another backup catcher who couldn't hit and is still serving as a backup catcher for AAA Charlotte.
  2. Nomination for best regular season game without playoff implications: the comeback from down 9-0 after 3 1/2 against the Reds. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240428108
  3. Genett's OPS is over .900 and he has just one error since being recalled. One of those things that just makes you feel old. The Diamondbacks are an expansion team, how are they wearing throwback uniforms? Next the Devil Rays will do the same.
  4. Bring me back my 90's Derby, without the teams and captains, combining scores between rounds, or clocks. I just want Griffey with his backwards hat and a Taco Bell sign promising everyone in America a free taco if someone hits the sign but in an obviously impossible to hit place.
  5. Yep, merchant fees are how they make the vast majority of their money. Can be a couple points higher depending on what's in place with the individual merchants. Their favorite customers are those who pay in full each month, require little to no risk consideration, and let them collect the merchant fees for hosting the IT to make it happen.
  6. Marco Estrada made it 7 1/3 perfect for Toronto vs. Tampa. Just gave up an infield single. Took a no hitter into the 8th in his previous start as well.
  7. Edgar's boys are a fun team to watch. Our team, not at all.
  8. Rickie Weeks DFA'd by Seattle. http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/update/25213628/mariners-lf-rickie-weeks-designate-for-assignment
  9. Amazon's Betas is a pretty good show. Almost exactly like Silicon Valley, maybe a notch below. Maybe too Silicon Valley for the Amazon-HBO negotiations that were going on when it was cancelled after one season.
  10. Thought the Perez experiment would be over. Anyway, seems like Scooter's figured things out. Will be nice to have him back, as long as it isn't the impostor that was hanging around at the start of this season.
  11. 1-15 so far, total of 3-48 on the season. How long's the rope with Scooter coming around?
  12. It was a raw deal to get kicked out of Nashville, though Melvin somehow seemed to be the last to see it coming and find anything but the worst option. Biggest worry now is how to get out of Colorado Springs. Is it really that common to move a franchise or replace one in the IL or PCL? Doesn't even seem like a realistic option. Between the few that have ownership interest and the many that are good geographic fits, the 2016 list looks tough to crack. Attractive locations would be Indianapolis (Pirates) or Rochester (Twins), which involve kicking out affiliates of 10 and 12 years. Other than that, it would involve going west (Fresno or Vegas), or kicking out good geographic fits that haven't been affiliated long (Columbus, Toledo, Buffalo). http://ballparkdigest.com/200905261902/minor-league-baseball/news/affiliate-dance-2012
  13. Guess it's a move with the future in mind. Though I can only think of it as garbage in, garbage out. In three years, Herrera wouldn't have been around and contributing, unless we still stink. There's an almost 2% chance this guy will be.
  14. They'll just move everyone up a day. Doesn't do much for a tired staff and no real MiLB candidates on the 40-man to exchange in a relief role. [sarcasm]Suppose with Lucroy back we can send Maldy to the pen.[/sarcasm] The reverse actually - optioned players must remain down for ten days before being recalled.
  15. Probably the Pirates. In years where we don't stink we dominate them and would win 100. And either way, we'd be good for some fights and drama to keep things entertaining.
  16. Trade Parra, get prospects, move current prospects up. No biggie. The only secondary consequence of the injury is that we might have to see Schafer again.
  17. Like the move. It's not like Wagner has pitched in optimal conditions, not yet playing a home game. AAA in Colorado Springs and AA homeless until June 7th, does anyone even come close to a worse farm situation? He's put up good numbers, and we have nothing to lose. Better someone with potential than another washout making the roster while someone playing well is slow rolled. Found this tweet interesting, and the reply somewhat funny: Mike Vassallo ‏@MikeVassallo13 5h5 hours ago Milwaukee, WI With Tyler Wagner (@_TylerWagner_) making his MLB debut on Sunday, the #Brewers will be the last team in the majors to use a sixth starter. Keith Mayer ‏@mayerke 5h5 hours ago @MikeVassallo13 @Haudricourt Brewers will also be last team to 17 wins. Perhaps those events have something to do with one another.
  18. Suppose it's fine to be a couple spots under if you're just clearing dead weight and giving guys with some upside a shot. Just as long as Melvin isn't working on a trade for "Major League ready" prospects that would re-waste the open spots.
  19. We're no longer the worst team in baseball! Only looking up at 28 other teams now.
  20. I'm not concerned in the least with the three run leads. It's the one run lead that is an inning long panic attack with his home run rate. Four out of five. At least there's some fight. No need to rush any decisions till late June, when the buyers and sellers know who they are. Highest trade value when the buyers are ready to commit to buying, so no point in committing to sell even if we're 99% certain that's the direction we'll go.
  21. Agree. And this isn't just a this season thing. It goes back to the last 100 games he's played and/or managed in. He was just awful in 2011.
  22. Well, that was the most fun it's been since the series in LA last August.
  23. RRR so would have hit Schaffer instead of Parra or Lind. Or used a pitcher since the book says he needed a right-handed hitter. CJC, genius.
