1. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 12 - Brewers 7, Cubs 6 (Game Two) Kyle Hendricks started for the Cubs and definitely ran into some bad luck. He ended up leaving the game after the second inning due to an undisclosed injury. Hendricks gave up four first inning runs, only two of them were earned but bad defense was really responsible for all four runs. It looked like Kris Bryant should have fielded a ball that ended up going down the third base line for a Keston Hiura double, then Bryant committed an error on a Luis Urias grounder. More bad defense cost the Cubs a run in the fifth inning when Avisail Garcia scored on a Urias single, he was going to be out by a mile at the plate but Kyle Schwarber air mailed the throw. Garcia was only in a position to score on that play because a Brad Wieck wild pitch put him at second base. The Cubs clearly were shooting themselves in the foot throughout this game. The Brewers ended up winning the game on a 2-run single by Ryan Braun in the seventh inning which put them ahead for good. Garcia with a 2-hit game, his first multi-hit game since April 24, and Eric Sogard with another 2-hit game. The only way to sugar-coat Adrian Houser's performance is to say the Brewers scored seven runs and won the game. Houser was awful and IMO should be sent to the bullpen. The bullpen was outstanding. 7 1/3 innings pitched, 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 walk, 11 strikeouts. 2. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 12 - Cubs 5, Brewers 4 (Game 1) Brewers lose this one in the bottom of the ninth when Victor Caratini (currently with a .173/.297/.280/.577 line) hits an 0-2 pitch for a home run off of Alex Claudio. Josh Lindblom had a solid start. Devin Williams had a terrible outing and was bailed out by Ray Black. Corey Knebel turns in a 3 batter, 3 strikeout performance and appears to be hitting his stride. Eric Sogard with another three hit game and Omar Narvaez hits a 2-run home run. Two injuries in this game. Logan Morrison left the game after running out a double, and Anthony Rizzo left the game after being hit by a Josh Lindblom pitch. No word on the extent of Morrison's injury, but it looks like he is at least out for game 2. Rizzo has been diagnosed with a bruised thigh and is already being listed as day-to-day for the next 6 days. 3. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 11 - Game rained out (@ Cubs) Day-night double-header scheduled for tomorrow. Here is the current roster situation- 26-man roster- Starting pitchers = Brandon Woodruff, Adrian Houser, Freddy Peralta, Corbin Burnes, Josh Lindblom Relief pitchers = Josh Hader (closer), Corey Knebel (setup), Devin Williams (setup), Alex Claudio (middle), Ray Black (middle), David Phelps (middle), Chris Lee (long), Drew Rasmussen (long) Catchers = Omar Narvaez, Manny Pina Infielders = Logan Morrison, Keston Hiura, Eric Sogard, Luis Urias, Brock Holt, Jedd Gyorko Outfielders = Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Avisail Garcia, Ryan Braun, Ben Gamel Disabled list = Brent Suter (triceps, out 4-5 weeks), Justin Smoak (quadriceps, oblique, recovery time unknown) Other players on 40-man roster (35 players total)- Pitchers = J.P Feyereisen, Eric Yardley Catcher = David Freitas Infielders = Ryon Healy, Orlando Arcia, Ronny Rodriguez Outfielders = Tyrone Taylor Looking around the rest of the league, there has been a trade made- -San Francisco Giants gets RHP-Pedro Strop (17 innings, 5.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 2.67 FIP) and 2.89 million dollars -Cincinnati Reds get CF-Bryce Johnson (24 years old, .280/.407/.350/.757 in A+) and RHP-Garrett Cave (23 years old, 5.87 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 4.06 FIP in A)
4. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 10 - Diamondbacks 3, Brewers 1 Not really much to say about this one. Mike Leake pretty much baffled everyone in the Brewer's lineup not named Ben Gamel (3 singles). The Brewers only run scored on a single by Drew Rasmussen. Corbin Burnes struggled in this game despite only allowing 2 runs. David Phelps allowed a solo home run to Kole Calhoun, but other than that it was another pretty solid bullpen effort. We are now 1/4 of the way through the season and here are some observations: -The Brewers are sixth in the NL in runs scored but I think there is upside there for them to be even better. I can't remember any hitter really going into one of those 7-10 day stretches where they just mash everything. Yelich has the best slash line at .298/.391/.536/.927 but even that has been more of a steady, consistent performance throughout. -I also wonder if the engine will put in some more platoon situations as the year progresses, which I've seen it do in the past. Luis Urias has definitely gotten better with the bat as the year has progressed (.190/.330/.345/.675 in April, .265/.342/.412/.754 in May), but he continues to really struggled against righties just like he did in MLB play last year (.182/.287/.293/.580 against righties, .368/.538/.737/1.275 against lefties). -Avisail Garcia is still listed in the primary lineup but hasn't started the last two games and I fully expect the engine to take more playing time away from him. So far he has a miserable .193/.231/.319/.550 slash line, and what's more annoying is that the engine routinely has him hitting ahead of Yelich/Hiura with that awful .231 OBP. -Lorenzo Cain makes way more run-saving, diving catches in centerfield than the opposition (and it's obvious when watching) and just the defensive aspect has been a big difference-maker. He's also has been very good with the bat (.281/.343/.450/.793). Yelich and Sogard have been better with the bat, but Cain is the WAR leader (1.6). -The engine has Omar Narvaez's defense as being much better than his reputation. He has thrown out 9 of 17 runners attempting to steal and only has allowed 2 passed balls. His catcher's ERA is the highest on the team though (Pina = 3.83, Freitas = 4.00, Narvaez = 4.31). His bat hasn't been anything special but I would guess still would rate as slightly above average for the catcher position (.263/.324/.404/.728). -The pitching is both 8th in the NL in starter's ERA and bullpen ERA and I still can't make heads or tails out of it. Best guess is that the ERA makes them look better than they really are as there consistently seems to be runners all over the bases. There is no team WHIP ranking that I can locate, but they are 11th in hits allowed and 12th in walks allowed. I still get the feeling that this is where they will need to do an upgrade or two by trade, but will admit that there is a likely bias built in there because this is the area of the team I worry about in reality. -Corey Knebel's rankings are pretty high in this game so I'd suspect he will be very effective once we get into the second half of the season. Ray Black and Chris Lee won't continue the insane pace that each of them has been on, but even with a drop-off a combination of Hader/Knebel/Black/Lee could make 1/2 of a very solid bullpen. Still hard to tell with Rasmussen. Overall he's looked pretty good, but those two clunkers against the Marlins gives the impression that it might be huge ups and downs with him. -Adrian Houser has looked better lately. But it's hard to get over the fact that he has a 7.36 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 5.93 FIP. Just have to wonder how many more starts the engine will give him with numbers like that? I've also attached a screenshot of the currently NL Central standings. The bottom is as enjoyable as the top.
5. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 9 - Brewers 6, Diamondbacks 4 Logan Morrison hits a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to win the ballgame. The most dramatic win for the Brewers so far this year. All of Milwaukee's runs came by home runs (two-run home run by Urias in the fourth and a solo shot by Braun in the sixth). A shaky start by Woodruff followed by an excellent bullpen effort from Black/Williams/Claudio. The Cardinals have lost their last three, so the Brewers have opened up a 2 1/2 game lead. Cubs are riding a six-game losing streak, now at 15-23 they are only 1/2 game ahead of the Pirates for last place. 6. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 8 - Brewers 6, Diamondbacks 4 Roster move made- Drew Rasmussen recalled from AAA, J.P. Feyereisen optioned to AAA Stearns in full blown "fresh arm" mode now. That's four bullpen moves in the last six days. Nice, "relaxing" victory for the Brewers today. Grabbed an early 4 run lead, and while the Diamondbacks were able to cut that lead to 2 runs on a couple of occasions, it felt like the Brewers were firmly in control of this one throughout the ballgame. The Diamondbacks have now lost 8 of their last 10. Robbie Ray has struggled this year and didn't make it to the third inning (now has a 5.62 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 5.07 FIP). Freddy Peralta allowed quite a few baserunners in this game, but still pitched pretty well and IMO probably should have gone out for the sixth inning as he had only thrown 83 pitches. Drew Rasmussen with another rough outing out of the bullpen. Another big performance today by Eric Sogard may have upgraded his overall performance this season to "outstanding." He now leads the team in doubles (11) and is up to third in RBIs (19). With Smoak on the DL, he's been the Brewers second-best hitter, only behind Yelich. In other league news, Indian's pitcher Shane Bieber suffers a torn UCL and is out of the season. Bieber had a horrible start (11 earned runs in his first 6 innings)....but had been rock-solid after that (10 earned runs in his last 35 innings). Clevinger is also injured and will miss at least the next couple of weeks. Carlos Carrasco is having an excellent bounce-back season (3.12 ERA). It's worth noting that Cleveland has brought up "transaction proposal" favorite Triston McKenzie. McKenzie has been designated as a follower, so he won't be starting, but he'll be throwing extended innings once every fifth game. Rays pitcher Blake Snell has a forearm strain but he's only expected to be out for approximately 6 days. 7. That is hilarious. The COVID-19 science is being done in laboratories by people working on treatments and doing other related experiments like testing stability on certain surfaces. What the statisticians...and therefore the media and politicians as they have ate up everything that the statisticians projected...have been doing has nothing to do with science because they've never based anything they've done on actual observations. "Gray area science" indeed!

10. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 7 - Marlins 2, Brewers 1 Roster move made- David Phelps activated from the disabled list, Drew Rasmussen optioned to AAA Another disappointing loss for Milwaukee. Houser's best start of the year, but the Brewer bats have gone cold. 4 games against the worst team in baseball, and the Brewers only score 11 runs in those games. This is the third straight series loss for the Brewers. Chris Lee's injury is a sprained ankle, listed as a 3-day day-to-day injury and likely won't prevent him from getting into a game if needed. The Smoak injury is looking more and more like a big deal, the Brewers are 4-7 since he went down. In other league news, Texas relief pitcher Cody Allen has a bone spur in his elbow and will miss 4-5 months. Allen has a 7.94 ERA and 2.12 WHIP so whoever replaces him will probably be an upgrade. Since we are 10 days into a 20 day stretch with no off-days, I'll follow this post with a standings update and the current Brewer stats. 11. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 6 - Marlins 4, Brewers 3 3-3 tie heading into the bottom of the 9th, and here's what happened- Ray Black enters the game Jorge Alfaro strikes out looking Lewis Brinson doubles Jon Berti grounds out to shortstop (Brinson cannot advance) Jonathan Villar is hit by pitch Chris Lee enters the game to create a lefty/lefty matchup Matt Joyce reaches base on a dribbler between first and second base Chris Lee injures his foot on the play and has to be removed from the ballgame Bases now loaded with two outs Drew Rasmussen replaces the injured Chris Lee Francisco Cervelli is the pinch hitter Rasmussen hits Cervelli with the first pitch, forcing in the winning run It was a bizarre lineup today to say the least with Cain, Hiura and Yelich all on the bench, but this is the 9th day in a streak of 20 straight days with a game. All the Brewer runs came in the first inning on a solo home run by Morrison followed by a 2-run home run by Sogard two batters later. After that Yamamoto settled down and it was a big nothing for Milwaukee. Lindblom pitched pretty well, allowed three runs but an error by Sogard made all three of those runs unearned. As mentioned above, Chris Lee was injured which could be a significant blow as Hader, Black and Lee have been excellent and the rest of the bullpen has been shaky at best. David Phelps can come off the disabled list tomorrow and is ready to go, so he's probably the replacement if Lee has to miss some time. 12. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 5 - Brewers 6, Marlins 2 Roster move before the game- J.P. Feyereisen recalled from AAA, Eric Yardley optioned to AAA Corbin Burnes had started a bullpen game earlier in the year, this was his first real start of the season. He gave up a 2-run home run to Lewis Brinson in the 2nd, but pitched pretty well outside of that. Braun finally does something with a home run and triple in this ballgame. His first RBI since April 6, and his first extra base hit since April 11. Hiura with the biggest day of all, 4 hits including a 3-run home run. Hiura had been in a bit of a RBI drought himself (his first RBIs since April 25), but the home run put him back in the team lead for RBIs with 23. The Brewers (21-15) still hold a 1 game lead over the Cardinals (20-16). The Cubs and the Reds are both 5 1/2 games back with identical 15-20 records. The Pirates (13-21) are 7 games back. Also a note that the MLB Draft is one month away and OOTP has real players for the draft. The mock in OOTP is projecting 3B/RHP Tanner Witt as the Brewer's round 1 pick. Other league news, Evan Longoria hits career home run #300.
13. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 4 - Marlins 2, Brewers 1 (11 innings) The Marlins snap a 15 game losing streak. Here is the way the bottom of the 11th went: Drew Rasmussen comes into the ballgame Matt Kemp doubles Brian Anderson grounds out to the pitcher on a dribbler down the 1B line, Kemp advances to third Corey Dickerson intentionally walks Jesus Aguilar walks Miguel Rojas walks (Matt Kemp scores) Rojas' slash line on the year is .221/.287/.313/.600 Miami starter Pablo Lopez had a 6.97 ERA coming into the ballgame, but had no problem with Brewer hitters. On the plus side for Milwaukee, Knebel looked very good in this outing after really struggling out of the gate (2 weak ground balls, and a weakly hit fly ball). Woodruff with a good bounce-back effort after a terrible start his last time out.
14. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 3 - Brewers 9, Cardinals 5 Roster move before the game- Eric Yardley added to the 26-man roster. J.P Feyereisen optioned to AAA. Logan Morrison with a big 2 home run game which was badly needed as he had been awful since being called up. Yelich also with a 4 hit day that included a home run and a triple. Another shaky performance by Peralta but good enough to get the job done. That's two straight series losses for the Brewers, but next up is four games against the Marlins. The Marlins are currently 5-29 and riding a 15 game losing streak. Their NL ranks are 14th in runs scored (only the Giants are worse), 14th in starter's ERA (Rockies), 13th in bullpen ERA (Rockies, Nationals). 16. I forgot to mention in my previous post, Brett Anderson signed a minor league deal with Colorado. Here is the minor league individual statistics. AAA hitters AAA pitchers AA hitters AA pitchers
17. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 2 - Cardinals 6, Brewers 1 Brewers and Cardinals now tied for the division lead in the NL Central, both with 19-14 records. Reds and Cubs both tied for third at 3 1/2 games back. Big news was before the ballgame. Brent Suter diagnosed with a strained triceps, put on the DL and is expected to miss six weeks. Corbin Burnes moves into the starting rotation. J.P. Feyereisen called up from AAA. Suter hadn't been very good....5.65 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 5.68 FIP....so we'll see if Burnes proves to be an upgrade. The Cardinals got some bad news before this ballgame. Pitcher Jack Flaherty was diagnosed with a ruptured finger tendon and will miss 3-4 months. They have inserted Kwang-hyun Kim into the rotation. Back to today's game. Houser charged with six runs, but actually pitched pretty well. Looked good through the first six innings, and then "quick hook" Counsell inexplicably leaves him out there to get pounded in the seventh. Real head-scratcher that would have generated at least five pages of posts at brewerfan.net. Brewers have runners all over the bases in this game and cannot deliver even one big hit...their only run scored an a bases-loaded walk to Yelich (followed by a weak fly ball to left by Hiura that ended the inning). Brewers draw nine walks in this game but can only score one run, a real frustrating one to watch. Tyler O'Neill the hero for the Cardinals with 2 home runs.
18. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ May 1 - Cardinals 5, Brewers 2 Cardinals now only 1 game behind the Brewers in the standings. Brewers scored 2 runs and left 6 runners on base, the Cardinals scored 5 runs and left 14 runners on base. That pretty much sums up this ballgame. Lindblom makes his first start and constantly has to wiggle out of trouble, while the Brewers get solo home runs from Narvaez and Cain and really don't have much else happening on offense. Other league news- Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen ruptures a finger tendon and will miss four months. Tough blow for the Diamondbacks as Gallen has picked up right where he left off last year (1.80 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 2.51 FIP). The ERA, WHIP and FIP numbers, all ranked 3rd in MLB among qualifiers. Padres catcher Austin Hedges ruptured a tendon in his foot and will miss five months. Astros pitcher Justin Verlander pulled a muscle in his back but it's not thought to be serious. He's only expected to miss one start. April awards as follows- AL hitter of the month - Astros first baseman Yordan Alvarez - .366, 13 home runs, 27 RBIs, 23 runs scored NL hitter of the month - Dodgers centerfielder Cody Bellinger - .402, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs, 25 runs scored AL pitcher of the month - Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez - 4-1, 2.14 ERA, 5 starts, 33 2/3 innings, 44 strikeouts, .210 BA against (and now injured and out for 4 months) NL pitcher of the month - Nationals starter Max Scherzer - 5-0, 3.11 ERA, 6 starts, 37 2/3 innings, 56 strikeouts AL rookie of the month - Angels left handed pitcher Patrick Sandoval - 4-1, 2.25 ERA, 24 innings, 17 strikeouts (he's being used as a follower by the Angels so no starts but he averaged 4.8 innings per appearance) NL rookie of the month - Mets left handed pitcher David Peterson - 3-0, 0.89 ERA, 3 starts, 20 1/3 innings, 16 strikeouts, .153 BA against
19. I think it's pretty terrible news for the following reason. If I'm Nike, and my market research says an endorsement deal for player X will generate a Y amount of revenue if that player attends Tennessee, but will generate Y times 1.2 amount of revenue if that players attends USC (bigger market), then what would stop Nike from offering that player a 750k endorsement deal to attend Tennessee....but it's a 1.0 million dollar endorsement deal if they attend USC instead. Do I see corporations guiding players to certain schools to help their bottom line...absolutely I do. Of course, the NCAA would act concerned about this...but really they know a system which sends better players to bigger markets and makes bigger winners on average will make bigger money over the long haul. And I would like to point out that I can say this without bias as a Badger fan, because Wisconsin isn't in the running for those top 10 prospects which are the guys who would be getting these deals from shoe companies (or other big corporations).
20. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ April 30 - Brewers 8, Nationals 5 Roster move made - Brett Anderson released Very questionable move made by the engine. The pitching has really been sagging recently and, at worst, Anderson should be seen as a quality depth arm who is now out of the equation. I haven't set up a sim in this version of OOTP where I manage, but in previous versions it's pretty much a guarantee that players with 5+ years of experience will always refuse a trip to the minors so that is likely what would have happened here (Anderson is listed as having options remaining in OOTP). And so it should come as no surprise, Brent Suter leaves today's game in the fifth inning with some type of injury. Strasburg didn't pitch well but ran into some bad luck. 7 hits and 1 walk in 4 1/3 innings, but 4 of the 5 runs he allowed were unearned due to errors by Kieboom and Soto. Yelich hit a 2-run homer to pad an already pretty good lead in the sixth inning. Brewer pitching looked really shaky at times in this game, but in all fairness Washington looks like they might end up with one of the top offenses in baseball. Trae Turner may have made that next step from good to great (.951 OPS), Victor Robles also looking like the real deal (.960 OPS), and Carter Kieboom looking good as a rookie (.385 OBP, .789 OPS). Add in guys like Soto and Eaton...and then some secondary guys like Thames...I would have figured Rendon is a big loss for them but it wasn't even that noticeable in the sim. Looks like their one big weakness, like last year, is the bullpen. Doolittle is having a nice bounce-back year (0.87 ERA, 0.77 WHIP), but the rest of that bullpen is looking pretty ugly. End of April- Brewers = 19-12 Cardinals = 17-14 (2 GB) Reds = 13-17 (5 1/2 GB) Cubs = 13-17 (5 1/2 GB) Pirates = 10-20 (8 1/2 GB) Five best records in MLB: Yankees = 25-7 Dodgers = 21-9 Astros = 20-11 Mets = 20-11 Padres = 20-11 Race to the #1 pick in the 2021 Draft: Marlins = 5-26 Tigers = 9-22 Pirates = 10-20 Rangers = 11-19 Giants = 11-19

23. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ April 29 - Nationals 9, Brewers 6 The pitching matchup that I mentioned yesterday never happened. Both Lindblom and Sanchez were skipped, resulting in a premier type matchup of Woodruff and Scherzer but only half that equation delivered. Woodruff was brutal, ugliest start for a Brewer all season. Only latest 2 2/3 innings, gave up 5 walks, hit 3 batters, threw 3 wild pitches, only gave up 2 hits but both of those hits were home runs. The first two relievers out of the pen, Williams and Claudio, were also bad which put the Brewers in an 8 run hole early. For the second day in a row, the Brewers use 7 relievers which isn't encouraging since the next off-day doesn't happen until May 18. Hiura, Sogard and Garcia all got the day off, which really made that 8-run hole look completely insurmountable. But as happens so often in baseball, the guys off the bench - Holt, Gamel, Gyorko - combined for 7 hits and 2 home runs and likely did a better job than the starters would have. The Brewers were actually able to get the tying run on first base in the 9th, but Garcia came off the bench and ended the game with a weak ground ball to second base. The engine probably should make a move and bring in some pitching reinforcements for Thursday's game. Devin Williams has as extremely high 16.8 K/9, but he has a 8.76 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and has been responsible for at least 1 run allowed in 3 of his last 4 outings. 24. https://madison.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/wiseye-morning-minute-turning-the-dial-to-reopen-the-economy/video_f5253f0c-3dbf-5a0d-98e3-e7fc892af775.html#tracking-source=home-the-latest What a pile of nonsense. So we will use a downward trend in the number of people showing COVID-19 symptoms AND influenza symptoms. Well that doesn't seem appropriate as flu cases trend down as the temperatures warm. And the other major criteria is the percentage of positive tests versus the number of tests administered, which again doesn't seem appropriate as the government/media fear-mongering blitz has likely sent a huge percentage of the population to get tested as soon as they get the sniffles. Even with the recent breakouts in Brown county, there is no downward trend in COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin: 4/14 = 127 4/15 = 166 4/16 = 154 4/17 = 170 4/18 = 154 4/19 = 147 4/20 = 153 4/21 = 121 4/22 = 225 4/23 = 207 4/24 = 304 4/25 = 331 4/26 = 224 4/27 = 170 Positive cases in Brown County: 4/20 = 70 4/21 = 29 4/22 = 88 4/23 = 53 4/24 = 150 4/25 = 85 4/26 = 56 4/27 = 77 Recent state numbers minus Brown county cases: 4/20 = 83 4/21 = 92 4/22 = 137 4/23 = 154 4/24 = 154 4/25 = 246 4/26 = 168 4/27 = 93 So does one look at 93 cases outside of Brown County on 4/27 and see the light at the end of the tunnel? Just looks like an outlier to me, just as the 246 on 4/25 is an outlier. Lookin at the data and it appears we are firmly stuck in the 150-160 new cases per day plateau, outside of the Brown County spike. Gee, would the "let's allow 'non-essentials' to do curbside business" have anything to do with the state losing an estimated 2 billion in tax revenue (number likely to go much higher if the shutdown continues)? The re-messaging has begun. PS - This is not a slam on Evers or siding with one side of the political aisle or the other. I see plenty of politicians from both parties re-maneuvering as the revenue crunch gets more and more serious.
25. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ April 28 - Nationals 7, Brewers 1 Joe Ross headed into this game with an 11.12 ERA and 2.47 WHIP but had no problems with the Brewer hitters. Brewers got their only run when Logan Morrison was hit by a pitch and then scored on a Luis Urias double. Brewers still had a chance heading into the ninth inning, but poor performances by Corey Knebel and Drew Rasmussen ended any chance the Brewers had. With Knebel pitching, Trea Turner led off the inning with a triple, Juan Soto was intentionally walked, Eric Thames struck out...Drew Rasmussen then came into the ballgame, walked Asdrubal Cabrera and then gave up a grand slam home run to Victor Robles. The day after the off-day and Counsell goes through 7 relievers. Once again, Peralta has trouble with walks, ends up with a high pitch count and doesn't go very deep in the game. Thames gets a golden sombrero, but so far he's been very good for the Nationals. Slash line following today's game is a pretty impressive .283/.353/.576/.929 with 6 HR. Tomorrow's pitching match up is Josh Lindblom, making his first start for the Brewers, and Anibal Sanchez. The Nationals have been using Sanchez as a follower, so there is a good chance a reliever will start this ballgame and Sanchez will enter the game in the second inning. In other league news, Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has been placed on the DL with ulnar nerve entrapment. He is scheduled to miss four months.
