  1. Giddy up! http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/4589238/giddy-up-o.gif
  2. Says the guy responsible for damn near half the posts made on the last 4 pages of this topic. And the gist of what you're saying is that is was Cobb or bust no matter the cost. Dismissing the other alternatives and downright eschewing the possibility that Cobb would offer little to no upgrade is foolish. You're trying to make yourself out to be a knowledgeable and logical contributor but your definitive statements and close-minded viewpoints undermine your credibility. There are other ways to complete this puzzle. And to be honest, many of them are much more appealing than Alex Cobb at 4 years, 57 million. This I completely agree with. That is where we need to move away from thinking there is only one way this roster can be built and that is that. It's just not true. I'm pretty excited to see this Brewers team this year. Maybe they flop. Maybe they don't. But this roster is exciting with the possibilities that could take place.
  3. They might've flinched when prices got above what they wanted to do. I don't think that is too puzzling. I know you like Cobb for $60M over four years but maybe the year were just something they didn't want to do with him (and I don't blame them really).
  4. If they would've signed one of the 30+ year olds in free agency would he have been then too?
  5. If you take April out of Davies numbers hes a 3.5 era guy. Or conversely When has Chacin followed up a 31 start sub 4 era year with a season over 14 starts and an era south of 4.4? Answer: Never. Good thing he is on a 2-year deal then.
  6. I don't think that is what the poster intended. He was showing how well Chacin threw the ball last year in over 90% of the starts he made. That is a great stat for us to keep in mind because if he can repeat that, he will be a very good #3 in our rotation.
  7. That makes the case of why you don't sign Chacin more than it does Cobb. Kids having to replace a 4 era guy is one thing. Expecting them to come in and be a guy who can go 6ip and sub 3.6 is quite another. No one thinks Chacin has a chance at a 3.2 era. If cobb finds his monster pitch he does. TOR capable guys rarely go for as little as 15 mil or 4 years. The FA class next year is just as old. Maybe Stearns doesn't see them at TOR guys going forward though. That is the part you're missing on. You have your opinion on them, but he might have his. And there's really only one that matters. Chacin was a great deal. He could turn out to pitch just as well as those "TOR" guys you are mentioning. Maybe he doesn't but he could for a fraction of the price tag.
  8. A lot of people have begged the organization to let their young pitchers get a chance and that group may very well get their wish. Maybe not right away but soon we could have Woofruff, Burnes, Suter and of course Nelson.
  9. You post as if it is a certainty that adding any one of those FA pitchers would have pushed us over the top. Maybe, but maybe not. But these posts scream, I didn’t get my way so now the path they have chosen won’t work out because I said so. Like a few others have posted I think we need to take a step back and realize that timing is everything and Stearns didn’t like the market on these guys and that’s okay.
  10. It was reported that he will go to the pen. The same article mentioned that he might be available for trade but it sounded like they were connecting dots rather than reporting something out of their front office.
  11. Archer most likely isn’t happening but that doesn’t mean the offseasons done. There will be quality players cut or out of options that Stearns might see as an upgrade.
  12. Swihart has made the opening day roster so there goes that.
  13. Well another contract I’m good with us not being involved in. Cobb was only to be added at the right price and this wasn’t it. And Im absolutely furious... Briggs you got scooter, davis. I got this. 48/3 or 60/4 is exactly what I wanted. I'd beat the offer as well. Cheap *** mother *******. No killer instinct. Furious... FURIOUS! God help me if theres a mutual option on that 4th year. Pretty fair to say Baltimores band box is possibly slightly worse than his conditions in the NL in MKE so we'll know how stupid this was. Good luck piecing this together and carrying this rotations top with what we have... or enjoy bleeding our farm into the 20s mlb wide. Brilliant... freaking brilliant. You may want to take a break from the internet for awhile.

  15. Looks too much like Michigan's logo for me. Give me the current "new" one any day.
  16. And I would be willing to wager that there were plenty of Eagle fans calling the team's defensive backfield a disaster at this time last year. Thank you for researching this. It is a terrific way to put all the armchair GM stuff in perspective. It gives you hope. But that is about it. It does not give you any certainty that the stars will line up for the Packers offseason to unfold in that way. But here's to hope.
  17. If we are worried about $2.5M why in the hell did we give Sogard the contract he has? Charity case to say the least.
  18. The Bucks have three more years after this season to do something with one of the better players in the league. The clock is ticking and it will be very interesting to see how this franchise tries to surround him and actually win something.
  19. Hopefully they make that move yesterday. Matthews should be extended, not released. I think you guys are focusing too much on sack numbers and not his overall impact to the defense. Let's see what he does in this new defense, especially if they allow him to move around quite a bit. I agree. I expect big things from Matthews this season. Listening to Pettine speak about him makes me think he believes there's more in the tank from Clay.
  20. Too early to call it a disaster. We've already seen a few really good moves by BG. He released an aged WR that didn't have much in the tank that released $12M to the cap. He signed Graham and Wilkerson to contracts that used up that money not having to touch a dime of the $20+M in cap room that the Packers have. So far smart moves. Would I like to see the Packers shore up the defensive backfield? Absolutely. But it doesn't have to happen by March 20th. Hopefully, some more sneaky moves are up the front office sleeves and do this thing right. Eric Reid anybody? He could come a bit cheaper now and is a good football player.
  21. Turner will most likely be back sometime in May. I'm not sure that's a spot where the Dodgers would panic and make a trade for Santana because it would only clog up their OF when Turner returns to 3B.
  22. As long as Jeffress isn't a late inning man, we'll be okay. He needs to be used like he was at the end of the year last year and get multiple innings in the 4-7th innings when our starter doesn't go that long.
  23. 3B- Justin Turner out with a broken wrist until st least May for the Dodgers.
  24. Burnett signing with Pittsburgh. He will do well there.
  25. I want to keep the depth because it’s going to take a lot more than 12-13 pitchers to win this year. Whatever combination of vets and younger guys that is I’ll leave up to Stearns/CC/Johnson.
