  1. Yes. We added a relief pitcher named Matt Albers.
  2. This is about what I expected to hear. You don't pass up a chance to add a talent like Yelich even if it does create a surplus. And it doesn't shock me to hear they are not high on Brinson. Not a shock at all.
  3. It will be really interesting if there is a deal out there that will make sense.
  4. Oh please start a new thread with this idea. I want to see heads pop off.
  5. [sarcasm]As much as it would be fun, I'm not sure the boards could take another "they're taking my prospects away from me" meltdown.[/sarcasm]
  6. Is that you John Madden? Yeah, his post was strangely worded, but if you phrase it as: "Will the first of the big 4 SP sign before the Super Bowl kicks off?" Yes -120 No -120 Or whatever, you get the point.
  7. [sarcasm]I'll take the under.[/sarcasm] The devil(fangraphs) at it again.
  8. I hate to make assumptions but could a reason for Darvish wanting to be in LA be because they have players of Asian descent like Ryu and Maeda?
  9. Shoot. I did not read that about him. Thought it was more so because they had Odor there already. Well, I was more so bored today and trying to find landing spots that made sense.
  10. I understand the concern. I guess my question is why is it shortsighted that he doesn't start in April, 2018? If he start next year, or even later this year, is that really a wasted opportunity? I'm a believer that for a starting pitcher to reach their max potential, they need the experience. It's not an overnight success story for most pitchers, even a lot of the all-time greats. If Hader were to start this year, there would be rough moments in the process but hopefully, eventually, he would get over them and become the pitcher I think he can. If that is delayed until next season or the year after that, the process just begins over again along with having to build up the endurance to become a starter. And in the process, it is wasted years where we have him cheap and controllable. Again, it is just an opinion, but I don't think it serves the Brewers or him well down the road.
  11. What about a deal that is with the Texas Rangers for Wilie Calhoun. They are slating him to start in LF for them (if he hits) but it is well known he is a better second baseman. The Brewers adding him at two-bagger would be a heck of a hitting IF.
  12. Another reason Stearns was probably good to go on this type of transaction. Taking advantage of the rules as best he can.
  13. Brewers Get: Eduardo Rodriguez, Tanner Houck, & Blake Swihart Red Sox Get: Domingo Santana
  14. After or before the Super Bowl would be a good Vegas bet right now.
  15. Part of me kind of hopes to see him used as a trade piece to a team that wants to start him. I don't want the Brewers to lose him but I also want to see this electric arm flourish. Just not sure that will be in a Brewers uniform. It really is a shame. Andrew Miller has an electric arm. To a lesser extent, so does Zach Britton. Both of these guys were failed starters. Not every electric lefty arm is destined to start. Sometimes the secondary stuff just isn't enough, especially when you have to dial down your fastball a few ticks to be able to sustain 6-7 innings instead of throwing gas for 1-2. I'm not saying Hader can't make it as a starter, but it's entirely possible that the Brewers are leaning toward the scouts who believe he's destined for the pen. I don't disagree with your assessment as to why they are doing it I just disagree with the process of finding out if he is a starting pitcher in this league or not. It feels like a wasted opportunity. He could have very well been the 5th starter this year so that he had the opportunity to prove, one way or another if he can start at the big league level. I get the win now mentality and that is all great but if it comes at the expense of one of the best arms our franchise has ever had, I'm not on board with it. Like Monty laid out, it feels very shortsighted.
  16. Part of me kind of hopes to see him used as a trade piece to a team that wants to start him. I don't want the Brewers to lose him but I also want to see this electric arm flourish. Just not sure that will be in a Brewers uniform. It really is a shame. It's a shame when anonymous fans believe they know more than professionals who are paid to make decisions like this. There is no evidence, none, that shows Hader will not flourish in a Brewers uniform. Gotta love condescending posts that really have no business ever being written. Take your BS elsewhere.

  18. I am on the side (if there is one) that sees Manny Pina as a great backup catcher or a catcher that splits time with someone. I don't see him as a guy that you'll want to count on for 120 games of producing great numbers. He caught just about 100 games last year and really tailed off offensively as the season wore on. I would gladly support a Grandal addition because you could then play them each 2-4 times a week depending on the matchups and keep both of them fresh down the stretch. You can still do that with Vogt but Grandal is superior in just about every category.
  19. The Wisconsin Happ’s took another L. Happ drained a three ball but was like 7-20 from the FT line. Ish, just like the rest of the team. Ish.
  20. Maybe Stearns and Co. have evaluated our top prospects and don’t feel too highly of them. Trying to get as much value for guys like Brinson and Harrison right now before that gets figured out. While our system seemed strong there did not seem to be too many high impact players in there. Maybe Stearns sees that and wants to use them as currency to build at the major league level with smart deals.
  21. Dude, you are obsessed with getting a pitcher, but don't want to trade a lot for Archer. Who do you want? He has to be messing with us at this point. Has to.
  22. He must be using the Cubs for leverage... no way he actually wants to be there!!
  23. ...because they have such a good track record.
  24. Eh, Darvish might be too annoying. [sarcasm]Let's just ride Yo back to the post season.[/sarcasm]
  25. I would think if they want a catcher with good defense, that they would be in on a guy like Pina. Both of Cleveland's catchers flat out stink offensively. Pina would provide them with the defense and an offensive upgrade.
