  1. Sometimes I wonder if he's paying attention all that much. If you are ever at the games and watching him, he does a lot of pre-pitch gazing around the stadium. Makes ya think if it is a lack of focus at times the way he gets jumps on balls.
  2. I think that is selling the athletic ability of Braun a bit short. It's not as if Thames or Aguilar is more agile than he is. I have a feeling that he could do it. He's smart, fielded pretty well coming through and for the most part, wouldn't have to toss the ball across the diamond. It makes quite a bit of sense if they do indeed plan to hang on to Santana.
  3. Santana hasn't been and most likely will not be our 3-hole. Yeah cuz he was 2 for a stretch. 1 for a stretch. Wont be there due to cain or yelich now. You want him behind braun/thames and shaw? 206 ab 1-2-3 289 ab 5th Best numbers 2 hole then 5 hole. I don't see them messing around with where Braun hits. You can make all the arguments you want to but when Braun is in there, he's been in the 3-hole pretty much as a given. Santana may get in the 2-hole though. Maybe. Doubtful he's still here though.

  5. I posted this somewhere else but if they do what you want, going up to $125 allows them no flexibility. If there are holes in the roster come July, they are stuck. Is that something you want to see? I don't. We don't know their number. I don't want to be frozen at the max, but we are coming off a few very cheap years. We just added what we'd likely have given Yu per year on Yelich and Cain. Do you think they sign Yu and stop? Wouldn't make any sense to. Just adding Yu leaves the offense considerably short. I might be wrong, but I think it is pretty safe to say that they won't be entering the year at the $120-$130M mark. Like others have said, it's not that they couldn't do it but they will then be locked into guys and lose flexibility. They will have increases in wages again after this season. Guys will hopefully continue to perform at a higher level and then they will cost more. Financially, the Brewers still need to be smarter than 99% of the league. If we want to see the window really collapse, all it will take now is some really dumb signings of players.
  6. This was very well stated and I agree. The baseball HOF has become petty and annoying each and every year.
  7. Not that he has a choice in this but it would be interesting to know his thoughts on coming to Milwaukee. And not the press bites I'm sure he'll feed those bozo's we have covering the Brewers.
  8. I know I'm in the deep minority here but I keep Villar. I'm with you.

  10. Cain- CF Yelich- LF Braun- 1B Shaw- 3B Santana- RF Walker- 2B Pina/Vogt- C Arcia- SS or Cain- CF Yelich- LF Braun- 1B Shaw- 3B Santana- RF Pina/Vogt- C Villar/Sogard- 2B Arcia- SS
  11. Let's just get one more pitcher and worry about the second, if even needed, after that.
  12. Yes, Cain is going to have to be watched as well. Age and injury concerns. Maybe that is the reason the Brewers might be okay with keeping Santana? If they do keep Santana, I hope they have the plan to just move Braun to 1B. Set a lineup for the most part. Part ways with Thames via trade. Try to stash Aguilar in AAA. And allow Choi or someone else to backup 1B.
  13. Right. Because Braun didn't play 135, 140, 135 the three years previous to last season. Annual must mean something different to you. Geesh B4U. I think we all know Braun has these nagging injuries even when he is playing that might be better served if he just sat down a few weeks. I do wonder how much "healthier" Braun gets if they put a high end roster around him. Might be his last hurah. The bagging on Braun gets old and tiresome for me. Especially when it's information like he'll miss 1-2 months. Other than last season, that's never been him in his entire career. Sure, does he have nagging injuries from time to time? Yep. But he still produced. It's comical that we just signed Cain and traded for Yelich and yet, there's Braun still having better offensive numbers. But I do agree with you on the high-end roster comment. Braun should feel a lot less pressure to produce this season and should always have men on base in front of him. He's probably giddy right now with the moves being made. Hasn't had this type of a lineup with him since Prince's departure.
  14. Guys get aches and pains. It absolutely makes sense to give Yelich and Cain a game or two off per month if they get dinged up, especially the older Cain. Even projection sites figure on the most healthy of players sitting out at least a few games per year. Yes, agreed. Although its great to see a guy push to play every single game, the smart play is timely rest. Target playing about 150 games on the schedule to allow their bodies not to get worn down. Especially Cain and Braun.

  16. The issue with Harrison is that he's at least a year or two away. Also, he's often struggled when he moved up the ladder in the minors (with the exception of this past year). I like the guy a lot, but I won't be surprised if there are some growing pains. Harrison didn't do it, but Yelich and Cain did! lol
  17. My preference on this: 1B: Braun (81 games), Thames (81 games w/ 0 against LHP) LF: Yelich (100 games); Braun (52 games) CF: Cain (110 games); Yelich (52 games) RF: Phillips (120 games); Cain (42 games) Trade Santana for Salazar + or for Meija and sign a FA pitcher. This keeps Braun at ~130 games, Yelich & Cain at ~150 games, Phillips at ~120 games and Thames at ~80 games. Seems like a good split to me. I'm sure Thames will be really stoked about playing half of a season.
  18. I'm sure it will depend a lot on Yo's spring training. If he looks like his old self, they still may be inclined to keep him.
  19. I would rather us not run up our bill to the max payroll now so that we have flexibility come June/July if we have a glaring need. One thing that Melvin/Mark A always have talked about was giving themselves roster flexibility. As much as it seems like we should just go spend, spend, spend... I'm advocating the other way. See what we have going on this year and make the appropriate moves.
  20. Again to each their own but we want professional hitters in our lineup and Braun is one of the best. We are moving to a new wave of hitters in Milwaukee and Braun has and will continue to be one of our better ones. While we all get giddy about a guy like Yelich and Cain (and rightfully so), Braun still trumps them offensively when he's healthy. That can be a major weapon for the Brewers to have, especially in a postseason.
  21. Marcus Stroman would be amazing. He would fit what Stearns has targeted as well being that he's have over 60% the past two seasons of a ground ball percentage. He would be one guy I would sell the farm for.
  22. What is better? LF- Yelich / CF- Cain / RF- Santana / 1B- Braun w/Thames on the move OR LF- Braun / CF- Yelich / RF- Cain / 1B- Thames & Aguilar w/ Santana on the move? -It is a tricky situation because Santana is just so dog poop as a defender but his bat is really nice to have. -Braun when healthy (can playing 1B keep him healthier?) is still a great bat in the middle of the lineup. -Does Thames & Phillips bring back a quality enough pitcher? I think we can assume that Santana + does.
  23. [sarcasm]Well, I don't know. It all depends on if they need pitching or not. Any insights into that?[/sarcasm] On a serious note, there is always a chance. Probably not a high chance as they do have some quality pitchers already on the staff and have already signed Chacin. But there's a chance.
  24. He has to be one happy guy right now. A lot of the pressure has been lifted from him tonight. Now if we can get lucky with some health he can go back to being Braun. Should be fun out there in 2018.
  25. Defensively, probably. How do you figure offensively? oWAR Walker: 2.1 oWAR Harrison: 2.5 Harrison was a 3.3 WAR player last year, factoring in his superior defense. Walker was 1.5. Perfect example of how WAR doesn’t always get it right. Take a look at his stat line as a Brewer and try to explain how he wasn’t the better offensive player. And for career? Walker again better. Harrison is soooo overrated.
