  1. Cain too. He’s been banged up over his career. If Santana is moved, Phillips will do well with playing time. As long as he produces.
  2. Can’t we get Dembroski to make another stupid trade for Santana? I mean he’s kind of a buffoon. Take advantage of that Stearns.
  3. If Santana isn’t staying, then Phillips ain’t starting. Not unless there’s injury out there. And if Santana isn’t staying, Aguilar will be the platoon most likely at 1B. Phillips will be a 4th OF and get his share of ABs and a defensive replacement at times. Pretty much no matter how this shakes out, Phillips isn’t starting. Unless injury occurs.
  4. Yep. Can’t pick and choose when you want to have morals or high character. Sorry MrTPlush, but baseball is letting these guys burn for something they knew about and we complicit about.
  5. Badgers with better effort tonight but they still suck. They don’t have a single player that can knock a shot down somewhat consistently.
  6. Very nice. I think most of the fan base want to see the next move. They want Santana to turn into a pitcher. It’s the big way this team transforms into a real contender.
  7. It’s fine to see Aguilar as low man on the totem pole but to completely dismiss his 2017 season is awfully silly imo.
  8. Not sure he gets enough ground balls for Stearns to target. But I do think he would be an interesting guy to target since he’s got a lot of remaining control.
  9. LOL! I’m actually feeling great about the fact that he thinks so highly of us.
  10. The life of the MLB. There will probably always be a contract or two that players might not live up to every year. Not a great reason to not make deals. Never said we shouldn't have made the deal, but I'd have rather sunk that $ into a starting pitcher than an outfielder. You change with the wind. One minutes it’s one thing. The next, another. Stearns will be a good boy and find pitching too.
  11. We'll see how that plays out in years 4 and 5 of Cains contract. There is a pretty good chance we have that bloated contract on the books when we need to have the money for another player at that time, but will be strapped. I might be wrong, but so could everyone else. But you’re more missing he point. He will be nothing but a bonus in terms of the value of the contact by then. In year three he will, most likely, have made the contract worth it. And $18M in 2021 isn’t going to be holding the crew back if in contention just like Braun isn’t present day. You’re just looking for reasons to hate this because your beloved prospects are gone.
  12. Doesn't that mean.. it's not an overpay? As I’m reading people talk about over pay as if this is 2002, the guys on MLB network are slobbering over the Cain acquisition. Speaking about how he only has to be a 2-win player per year for the contract to be worth it. Hell he could have that in two seasons.
  13. We'll see if people are singing that tune in year 4 and 5 of this contract... The life of the MLB. There will probably always be a contract or two that players might not live up to every year. Not a great reason to not make deals.
  14. $15M for that pitcher? Boy the Diamondbacks are stupid.
  15. Given our current lower payroll, i wish those salaries were revered, starting at 17 million this year and ending at 13 million in 2022. I know what we are all thinking but if we needed money so bad then I’m willing to bet Mark A would have told them to structure it that way.
  16. Again, you would think that but from a month and a half ago. Now obviously things could've changed since then but it doesn't give you the feeling that we're going to get good value for Santana. And a week ago it was crazy that Yelich would be a Brewer. Markets change. Teams say things they don't mean to drive a price down, etc... It'll work out. Or it won't. And we'll have a stacked lineup. Win-win!
  17. It's also $5 million short, which is probably a signing bonus probably spread out over the 5 years. This doesn't belong in this thread but it is a deferred payment of $1M for the five seasons after he is done with the Brewers.
  18. I think you need to really look at how you format your posts. They are so hard to read. But also, we probably need to put a pin in what the Brewers roster will look like as there seem to be even more changes on the way. Too hard to discuss what most likely won't be what we go into the season with. I think I would rather buy a corner OF than a pitcher. Pitching is almost always more expensive. And pitching wins rings. Also, our offense will be alright with or without Santana. Its the triple quote issue. I think it's the half sentences, statements, phrases, or whatever you want to call it. lol But yeah, triple quoting is a nuisance.

  20. Braun, full no trade clause. Cain, full no trade clause at least for this year and even without one, it's not like we were going to sign him just to trade him in June. Yelich, see Cain. So unless they're actually serious about moving Braun to 1st full time, in which case Thames and/or Aguilar is on the chopping block, where is Santana going to play. And yeah, they can move them around but they're not going to be considered full time players, so how happy are they going to be with that? Sorry if I don't see rainbows and sunshine all the time but getting value for Santana got quite a bit harder than it was 24 hours ago and when reports came out earlier in the offseason about the market for Santana being cool to begin with, I'm not exactly optimistic that we're going to get good value for him. The market determines the value. What we get for him will be what he is worth. If we trade him at all.
  21. I guess I don't see the want with a guy like Corbin. I think I'd rather just start Hader or Suter.
  22. We'll take Robbie Ray, thank you very much!
  23. Makes you wonder if Stearns is targeting something!
  24. Huh? You act as though Thames/Aguilar were a bad combo last season. Does someone have to remind you of what they produced? And Braun, well he's still the best hitter on the team if he's healthy, so yeah, they will probably do everything they can to center the offense around him. By including all these good, quality players, he and Shaw and Santana should'nt have to try to carry the offense.
