  1. Santana isn't going anywhere. Whether you like him or now, now is the time to see what this kid is made of. He could be a booming star or a guy that just strikes out too much to produce anything. This is the perfect season to find that out.
  2. Could this have more to do with the high ankle fracture than anything? I'm all for Flores being a option as a backup 1B. The more positions your can play, the better.
  3. I don't think Iowa is playing their best, but UW is physically imposing their will on people. Woodbury looked like he just ran 50 miles without stopping. Maryland got whipped too, I think it's a product of our play more than Iowa stinking up the joint. Couldn't agree more. Too often people want to tell you how bad a team played rather than how good the other team played. I saw an Iowa team live, look lost late in the second half because the Badgers just didn't let them breathe. The team that is mostly seniors was discombobulated as was their couach and there stood Gard, a man cool as a cucumber not worried with freshman running all around the court as four juniors (Koenig, Brown, Hayes, and Showalter) steadily ran the show. Last night was a perfect example of how special this team is. Down 6 around the 12 minute mark in the second half and the Iowa fans were rocking. The Badgers get two defensive stops and answer with back to back three's to tie it up. They are just relentless. Like you said, much less talented but hearts are just as big and it shows. I'm hoping this team somehow finds its way to the Sweet 16.
  4. Was at the game tonight. Badgers just never quit. They would be an annoying opponent to play but you probably respect the crap out of them when he game is done and you're reflecting on it. That team has a big, gigantic heart that could've died with Bo retiring. On Wisconsin!
  5. I'll take my shot with Kodi Medeiros. We need pitching. Badly. And he did a pretty solid job last year and the Rattlers had high praise for him. And he's 19.
  6. DH next season? No way. I could maybe believe 2018 if they came out with it this season but they have to give these NL teams a heads up before they would make such a move. It really impacts a roster. Either way, Davis being traded is still fine because we'll just slide Braun to the DH and let him mash. Nottingham gives us a chance to have our successor after Lucroy. I'll take that. Plus we obtained a pitcher in that deal and another through a waiver claim. I like it.
  7. [sarcasm]Awesome. When do WS Tix go on sale? I want to make sure I have mine![/sarcasm] All kidding aside, few fanbases would even care about a Flores and we are one of them that shouldnt either. Braun is locked in at LF, Santana in RF. CF is up for grabs but I wouldnt imagine Flores profiles as an everyday CF under even the most optimistic of fans. Therefore he is at best a 4th OF who is also hurt. Gerardo Parra was a pretty good 4th OF that netted us a promising starting pitcher. And he was a lot older.
  8. I always liked Nolin, admittedly only off his 2012/13 years. I wonder why he wasn't just included in the trade? Maybe the A's thought they could stash him
  9. Sorry, just not going to happen. You're not going to have prospects, younger guys at every position. They are going to give Hill a crack at starting and it happens to be at 3B because Scooter is on this team and cannot play anywhere else. If Cecchini hits, he will get his opportunity to play but Hill is going to get a shot at redeeming himself.
  10. Nolin missed the first part of this season recovering from offseason sports hernia surgery and also missed time at Triple-A Nashville to a strained left groin and strained shoulder. This could be a big reason for velocity drop.
  11. No matter where they are placed in the tourney, they can beat anyone. Will they beat anyone? Well, that will depend if they are hot or not. That's really all this year's winner will be. Who is the hottest team come the end of March.
  12. This trade could get even better now that Sean Nolin was claimed by the Brewers. Nolin was originally drafted by the Brewers and was DFA'd when the A's obtained Khris Davis. Like this a lot.
  13. You lose me on this one. How can a guy who is 23 years old and has had some success in the minors not have any value? Silly.
  14. Bucks 15-9 at home, 8-24 on the road. They are young and need to figure that part of the NBA grind out.
  15. I am happy to see Braun make the move back over to LF. Hardly anyone gives him credit for moving positions now multiple times in his career hardly without batting an eye. It will be interesting to see how the OF shakes out this year besides Braun because we have a long list of guys who need to see at bats at the MLB level to see exactly what they are. Here's hoping that 2-3 of them stick and are valuable pieces moving forward.
  16. That first half was a rough thing to watch. I'm going to the game Wednesday vs. Iowa. I hope they don't start like that or it won't be much of a game.
  17. Pena, Blazek and Thornburg should all be locks. With a younger rotation you want as many multiple inning guys as we can. All three of those pitchers can do just that.
  18. It's what we do with this money will be the key. Hopefully we strike gold on a few of these signings.
  19. Need pitchers to emerge in our top end of the farm system or this rebuild will be nothing more than our last uprising.
  20. If we don't platoon then we really are tanking. Scooter is what he is. Smacks around RHP a bit and plays good enough D to be a nice platoon mate. The rest is fooling yourself into thinking he is more than he already is.
  21. Unless Maldonado actually got himself in shape, he couldn't catch 120 games and be worth anything anyways. His legs will be dead around game 60 carrying the weight he does.
  22. probably not. kepler has a lot a hype after last season. a german born brewer would be a huge promotional tool though. If we trade for Kepler and draft Riley Pint, that might make a Top 10 moment in Brewer history for me. Fingers crossed. Most likely that kid is pitching for LSU next season. Heart seems set on it.
  23. Iowa losing to Penn State opening the door a sliver for the Badgers. Have to knock off Mich state tomorrow and then it's game on!
