  1. Sveumrules literally says in the thread title & OP that the offer would be Peralta+ Oh I missed the part where Sveumrules was the only only person to give their opinion and post. The point was that the original poster realized that it would take Peralta and pieces to get him.
  2. Please be the Brewers. Would be a fun attempt at a big splash
  3. Especially if that AAA team was let's say the Cubs. You would have a great chance at getting higher attendance.
  4. Agree to most of it but you also can't completely flood a position with the same level/aged prospects because you only have so many positions to play them at. They need their at bats to develop, but yes, good points.
  5. No. He's acquired plenty of prospects in Flores, the kids from Seattle, Supak, Liriano, Diaz, and Cecchini in addition to young controllable guys like Villar, Nieuwenhuis, Pinto, Carter, and Anderson. The only move he made that I would categorize as simply "activity" would be the Krod trade. Even that trade got us a young, controllable player with some upside. Ya just never know.
  6. And for getting us our first winning seasons in forever and to the post season for the first time in 26 seasons and two games away from a World Series. DM did a lot of really good things for the Brewers organization. Did he get us to the top of the mountain? No but he gave a hell of an effort to. Much respect and glad he was kept in the fold. Anyone think there was any conspiracy going down between the Astros and Brewers last season with the trade and then Stearns coming to MKE? Seems almost too good to be true with that trade and then getting this guy to run the show.
  7. Another sensitive person I see. They are excuses as to why he is a replacement level player. None of us are accusing the man of being weak-minded. I am saying all of those things that RR threw out there are excuses FROM RON HIMSELF as to why Segura has stunk. I never once mentioned Segura as to saying them himself nor was stating that he should just "play through them." I am just saying that they are all just excuses to think there is more to Jean Segura than being a replacement level player.
  8. Throw in Will Smith and call it a day. If we are tossing in Will Smith then I want a younger (17-19 age) player with higher upside tossed in the mix as well. Someone like a Diaz-type player.
  9. Sounds like a laundry list of excuses for underperforming for 2.5 years. Sad about his child but the rest of it, well they are excuses. Perform and you'd get your payday.
  10. I think you're going to be devistated when Perez isn't on the major league club. There was a reason for his removal from the 40 man. Going to take superb play, some other guys to horribly suck and a possible injury for him to be in the show again.
  11. If I've given the best case scenario, you've just given the worst. Jake Arrietta could get hurt and the Cubs could go into a tailspin too. The difference between last year and this is if Jungmann is getting crushed, he'll be optioned out 6-7 starts in and replaced by Lopez or Pena, or Burgos or somebody (yes even Suter Clancy) who's likely showing something in the minors. Sooner or later they'll likely land on somebody who does the job. Last year when Lohse and Garza struggled, their contracts kept them in the rotation for almost the entire season. I didn't give each pitchers best case scenario either, just a relatively positive spin. Nelson's best case is he's a true ace. Peralta already has a 17 win season under his belt, his best could be as good or better. He's in his prime right now. Don't waster your breath, bill hAll Star feels as though every Brewer player is the worst so no matter what you say to him, he will tell you that the Brewers will suck. It isn't worth it.
  12. If he were to be traded and didn't waive his no trade clause I'd be shocked. I mean he did say he wanted to compete for a ring.
  13. "I could better my life by going back to college, but why try? There's a greater than zero chance I may not get a job out of college. I'll just stick with my fast food job (not that there's anything wrong with that)." Meh, that doesn't really apply here. The Brewers could make FA signings and try their way in that regard to get back to the playoffs and contend. It could be done. Will it? No probably never but to say that the only way to ever win is by a big rebuild is not correct either.
  14. We know what we have in Scooter. We have no idea what Walsh can do at the MLB level. If we are truly rebuilding, it makes no sense to not see what Walsh can bring to this team. Scooter will be an after though before contending again.
  15. Rebuilding is only cool if there is success after it. If we rebuild this year, 2017 and some of 2018 and nothing comes of it, which very well could happen, then we will look back and really second guess a lot of things. I'm not saying we shouldn't rebuild but I think to the original posters thought is that a lot of people are just assuming that it will be all rosie come 2018 when it really might not be.
  16. What I like about Anderson is that he is a guy that doesn't walk a lot of guys. It's refreshing when a pitcher is not giving up free bases. He is a nice get for the Brewers staff on a rebuilding club. He should provide stability in the pitching staff. Hopefully Garza can figure it out and do the same and all of a sudden we have two veteran pitchers that other teams might be knocking down our door to get.
  17. YoungGeezy1 Sounds like we are the two co-presidents of the Cecchini fan club. He is the one I'm watching the closest this spring to see if the change of teams/wide open 3B position can get him back to doing what he had done in the minors before last year. Would love to see his LH bat and high OBP play out at a #2 hitter in the lineup. Add a third to your group (if you will). I loved this pickup and really am intrigued to see him become a Lyle Overbay type doubles guy playing solid defense at 3B. Really pulling for this guy.
  18. I'm not sure you ever truly know an "ace" is going to be an ace. Yeah, sure there are highly ranked guys you know are going to be very good but an "ace" I'm not sure on. The key is to get three really good pitchers and two that can hold their own. If the Brewers can do that, we'll be just fine.
  19. We always complain of lack of leadership and here is a great example of a veteran who's been around, made mistakes, and probably wants to win more than most on that team telling another veteran to cool it with what he says. Braun is the Milwaukee Brewers right now and that is okay people. Everyone makes mistakes and Braun has been nothing but a stand up citizen and teammate since the incident. Lucroy signed the deal now zip it and play your behind off. The rest will take care of itself. Either way, I am somewhat glad Luc exposed his true colors because there were a lot of people blind to him and his ways. A catcher needs to be the leader of the team and this past year or two, Luc hasn't displayed the leadership needed from our catcher.
  20. I think a guy like Lara projects to be our future 3B with Arcia.
  21. Not to mention, I don't feel like Braun is in any sort of position to lecture someone on how to conduct themselves to the media. Last time I checked, Lucroy wasn't forced to sign the deal he did. And Braun has every right as a veteran in that locker room, and the best player on that team, to tell Lucroy to knock it off and play ball. Attitude is everything in baseball. Maybe the reason why Lucroy struggled so much is that he has a bad attitude. Either way, he needs to fall in line and play baseball to his ability and let the record fall where it will.
  22. Absolutely love this from Braun.
  23. I'll give Hill a better shot at a rebound over Segura. At least Hill was good for more than a 1/2 a season. If he rebounds, sweet, we flip him for another piece. If he doesn't, oh well. We don't have to watch Segura weakly groundout to the SS for another year and we got a good prospect to go along with it. Plus more depth at SP.
