  1. I knew it was a joke right away, too. However, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if that story about Ms. Andrews came true in the future. Not one bit.
  2. didn't fool me one bit. Knew it from the title. Your write-up is pretty good though. Very nice.
  3. yeah, I was pretty ticked last night. Saw it pop up, clicked "I want one" and the darn thing didn't have me logged in! ARGH! So the server pretty much shut down and I never got to log in to order one. It's really bad since I knew the BOC was coming, too!
  4. Gorman, if you've got Directv, shouldn't you get MLB network? Or is it blacked out in Wisconsin? I've got it on my guide ch. 213. Yippee for living in AZ for once.
  5. another year without buying an HDTV and the HD package, I guess. I told myself that I'll buy both as soon as the Brewers are on HD for (almost) the entire season. Maybe 2010 is their year.
  6. yes there was a game with the inflatable aliens but I swear that was in Miami for the Marlins game, since they drew so poorly (my, somethings never change!). The Expos (and other teams) may have done it, too, I suppose.
  7. I figured that it was the SEALS that rappelled down the ropes from the helicopter, whereas the FBI guys got out from the helicopters that actually touched down and landed. Made sense to me, at least. I love this show. I really liked that Jack had little to do with the end of the episode, for once. I thought for sure that Agent Walker and Bauer would have snuck out as soon as Larry got on the elevator.
  8. That's pretty interesting. Thanks for the link. I don't remember them using him on the Turn Ahead the Clock jerseys. Of course, I didn't get any Brewer games on television back then.
  9. Welcome to the boards! Usually the regional semis and finals are pretty well attended and, thus, the NCAA usually mandates that they hold a more than usual (for basketball) amount of fans. I, too, noticed that on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this weekend that attendance seemed WAY off from normal. And as you said, it didn't look all that good on television. Suffice to say, the NCAA charges a LOT for the tickets to these games. High ticket prices for the Final Four I can understand; but regional semis and finals cost just about as much, which probably prohibited many fans from purchasing. I thought of going down to Phoenix for the games but I found out ticket prices were $50 and up in most parts of the stadium. Forget that.
  10. kind of disappointed that it's just the Rangers television broadcast being "carried" by the MLB network. All the stats lines are covered up by MLB network's bottom line. Kind of stinks. But it's the Brewers on television, so I shouldn't complain, I guess. Nice to see them in the lead, but again it's spring training.
  11. Sounds interesting. Welcome back, Al, by the way. I don't think I saw you more than twice during the off-season on the boards.
  12. drat! I got to the final order page and then it conked out on me. So close . . . . and yet so far! At least I got one last year, so it's not like I'm still in an oh-fer.
  13. OBP is fer gurlz! I think I'd rather have an aerosol can and one of those grill starter/lighters with the long handles. I think I could win some flame wars with that combo. Unless somebody else had a legit flamethrower, that is.
  14. oh, boy! another woot off!!!! Wonder if I'll find anything I like!
  15. Is it just me that remembers this or others? In the movie that is being referred to, doesn't Marty McFly also see the words, "Three in a row" on the board that declares "Cubs Win World Series" or am I mis-remembering? And if I am remembering this, does it refer to three championships in a row or the fact that they won three games in a row over Miami to win the Series? On topic, good for the Marlins. A stadium that is downtown is very much an upgrade and will get fans to the ballpark. Huzzah! Now all they need to do is change their color scheme.
  16. this topic (or something similar to it) pops up every year around this time. Opening Day should be a special day. I know it is for me. But I have never attended a Brewers Opening Day (mostly due to the distance). I've attended several D-Backs Opening Days and it's been great. But their Opening Days are WAY different than Milwaukee Opening Days from all I've read and heard about and I'm not sure if I would enjoy a Milwaukee Opening Day unless I really splurged and got really great seats away from all the hullaballo. To those that do attend this year, I hope all goes well for you and that you enjoy yourself. As I seem to read this every year, I'm putting the over-under of number of posts that say, "Never again . . ." or something like it at four.
  17. quite an exciting bottom of the 9th. I kind of hope this goes really long so they have to use those weird rules regarding putting runners on base to start an inning.
  18. I will never again order crunchy taco supremes from Taco Bell. They slather in the sour cream like it's cake frosting--just TOO much! I had to put 2 fire sauce packs in each taco just to make it taste like a taco. That was $5 down the drain. Regular crunchy tacos from now on. Sour cream=bad.
  19. I would also tend to think that back in the early 1900s, when "World Series" was first coined (I'm not really sure when the term was officially used), that Major League Baseball used the term "World's Champion" because nobody else was playing the game except for Americans. As a result, over time, the term has stuck due to tradition. I still think it would be cool for each league's champion (MLB, Japan, Korea, Mexico, whatever) would have a mini-tournament in November to truly determine each year's World Champion, but that'll never happen.
  20. I've had the theme song to the Hanukkah Harry skit from 1990s SNL in my head all morning.
  21. Doug Loman Although I'm not sure how big of a prospect he really was.
  22. and just like that Japan erupts and, conceivably, puts the game away. Although, it is still fairly early. But that's quite a deficit to come back from.
  23. It's a shame that Marquette lost on a middle school hoops-type violation, but it was the absolute correct call. It just shouldn't be a mistake that a Division I basketball player should make--ever.
  24. how many more times is this PBP guy going to call them "Wisconcsin" and "Wisconscin"? I've heard both several times. These guys must be their #8 PBP crew. Game wise, I'm glad to see the Badgers are hanging in the game late. I still don't think they'll win but I'll be pleasantly surprised to see it happen.
