  1. "Swamp" coolers, as they are affectionately called in Arizona, are great in the desert. But if you get humidity, they are completely worthless. They just circulate the humid air around. My wife had one before we got married. I'll try to get her to post about it. Oh, and don't run it at night or you'll freeze your toes off (my wife did that in her old place before we were together. Well, her toes didn't freeze off, of course.)
  2. well, a great AB by Hart, good hit by JJ, **ahem** poor AB by Braun, and a game winner by Prince. A win is a win is a win. Let's get another one tomorrow when I can see it in person (again).
  3. what an AB by Corey there! All you ask for in the 9th is the chance to tie or win the game, and the Crew has done it thus far. Come on, JJ!!!!
  4. very surprising to see the Gigantes swinging at so many first pitches. It's almost like they knew what was coming or something. Or all those years in San Diego and Bochy taught his players how to read him or something. Come on Crew, don't give in yet!
  5. first pitch. Augh. Nice inning, otherwise. Well, let's get 'em this frame and win it in the 9th! I liked how the crowd got into it and then Cam took it all away by swinging at that first pitch. I'd rather have taken a pitch and at least let himself get settled in rather than adrenaline creeping in.
  6. well, there you go. Lead-off base hit, although if Billy makes the play, Coffey is still in there. Come on Mitchie the Kid!
  7. I know it's not possible, but it's almost as if the catcher's are in on the joke, purposely going out there to disrupt the sausage race. Maybe he's got money on a horse and is making sure he wins. Seriously, though, now that it has happened twice when will the MLBPA step in so their players don't get hurt? Will it take a catcher getting completely trampled and put on the DL with a mild-to-serious injury? That would be my guess, since MLB seems to be reactive rather than proactive more often than not. By the way, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed last night's game. Until the 8th inning through the end when a drunk college guy was screaming all over our section (we were in row 5) to get the wave going. He was sitting way up in row 20 or higher but decided to come down into the Terrace Box seats to do his "schtick." It got old real fast, especially for those of us that wanted to watch the game, not his shirtless, drunk antics.
  8. if the batter's eye is such a problem, do the Brewers need to change it from green-painted cinder blocks (or whatever it is) to black-painted cinder blocks? Or put up a black tarp (ala Yankee Stadium)? Would that work?
  9. It's already there. I'll close this.
  10. My brother had Ghostbusters (on PC) on pre-order. He picked it up on Tuesday. He completed the game sometime on Wednesday. That's $30 well spent. He does say it has "some" replayability due to different difficulty levels but there is no multiplayer on PC. He also stated that it was a pretty solid game, although there is a bug with the installer, I guess. edit: by the way, I love the fact that this thread has survived for a year. It would kind of fun to still read this thread in a few more years to see which games that we were pining for were hits or duds and how we felt about them before they came out.
  11. well, I guess we can throw out picking up a big-name player at the deadline and/or giving out extensions to players! We won't be able to afford it now!
  12. me, too. since I'm headed for Wisconsin tonight and we're going to be in Appleton for 2 weeks I now know where I'll be having lunch at least once! Thanks for the info!
  13. it's bad enough that my dad is build like John Madden, except shorter and kinda hunched over due to knee problems, but it's worse whenever you go over to visit and he's just sitting around the house in boxer shorts. Just rip my eyeballs out now and get it over with.
  14. I don't know. If the Brewers win and I'm up there with <10 other Brewer fans, I'd be fearing for my life (i.e. Pushed off the edge of the building)
  15. I find it very strange that at weird and odd times I can see the tiny bubbles in my eyeball fluid as it washes over the front of my eye.
  16. boy, what's the fan graph for this game look like? Momentum completely on Cleveland's side, after that 1-2-3 10th inning we put on the board.
  17. if you're up, the game is being replayed on ESPN right now. Actually, they're heading to the 8th inning right now.
  18. see, I just did not see it as arrogance at all. You can see him clearly letting out a sigh of relief as he looks to the fans after making the catch. I think he clearly thought that was the third out and was just happy he didn't goof up again. Was it embarrassing? Sure it was--after the fact. I didn't see it as posturing or anything when I saw it.
  19. the Indians and Eric Wedge are probably regretting going for the two-point conversion right about now
  20. I do agree. The entire third period the Penguins skated around and played very tentatively. Sorry to bust out the cliche but they played not to lose that whole period--even after Detroit scored the goal.
  21. You know, I'm really a closet hockey fan and I'd like to give major props to the Pittsburgh Penguins for their Stanley Cup Finals victory tonight. For what that franchise has gone through in the last year or two, they deserved it. I mean, they were nearly called extinct until Mario Lemeiux took money out of his pocket (I think) to save the franchise. They almost lost Melon Arena. Amazing! Hockey is a great sport and it was a great game tonight. How about that save off the rebound with 1.3 seconds left? WOW! This is why if I have a choice of a sports video game for my desert island, I choose hockey every time. Always exciting. And when it's not, you hit guys and check 'em hard to the ice. That's exciting in it's own way. Anybody else do the flip back and forth thing tonight or picture-in-picture during the Brewer game like me?
  22. I didn't see the highlight, just reading what you posted. That's awesome. Nice job by the runner on first to be running out the pop fly and scoring on it! Like the hustle! I don't like the Yankees, of course (or the Mets), but still pretty neat to see hustle on a pop up. I'm sure I'll see it later on.
  23. yeah, that was pretty poor plate discipline that inning, 3-run homer or not. Nice call on a 5-4 finish! We haven't died with the sword (Gamel's defense) much this season, but we certainly haven't lived with it much either (Gamel's hitting). So far. Well, let's come back and fair a bit better than in the past in interleague play.
  24. hey, think of it this way: maybe we're getting our September 2008 out of the way in June this year. If June is our worst month things won't be that bad (we can hope!)
