  1. So, I appreciated reading the game thread a few hours later (after the win, my wife and I watched a film) only to see that my comment was laughed off. So let me explain . . . We decided to watch the game on MLB Network, since it was their showcase game and we live in Arizona so it wasn't blacked out. We usually choose the Bally's feed through MLB.tv but decided to watch the national feed, for once, since the Brewers are so rarely on a national broadcast (not regional, but national.) In said game, and every other game I've ever heard him (including his video game announcing), Matt Vasgersian's mic is always tuned with very little bass and the volume is low, almost as if the audio engineers are expecting him to get loud and yell a lot. It just sounds poor, almost like his voice is set to AM radio quality, while his partner right next to him (tonight it was Tom Verducci) sounds just fine; there is bass in his audio feed and it sounds high quality. It was just an observation. I wondered if anybody else has noticed that in the past (my wife noticed it immediately.) Perhaps you did not think my comment warranted entry into the game thread and, if so, I heartily apologize.
  2. Why does Matty V’s mic always seem to sound like he’s on AM radio instead of an HD television broadcast? He’s the only tv announcer that has this (really) old school sound.
  3. Having trouble deciding on Carson Wentz versus Detroit’s porous defense and Kirk Cousins in prime time against the Eagles in what could be a shootout. and, of course, with Dak Prescott getting hurt, it makes my receiver choices even harder to get a handle on: Ceedee Lamb, Devonta Smith, Kyle Pitts, Elijah Moore, and George Pickens (need two). thoughts?
  4. Maybe Judge knows he could hit 50 dingers just at AmFam alone. Maybe that should be in blue.
  5. I agree. Albert O is a great choice. Kittle isn't going to play.
  6. Might as well as this here, since so many users on Discord servers get preferential treatment if they are "elite" members or some other super-ultra paid subscriber rather than those of us who just pay for the premier subscription ? Good morning! 14-team PPR league. I'm already going with Javante Williams, Saquon Barkley, and Aaron Jones at my 2 RB and 1 FLEX spot. Which leaves me with 2 WR/TE slots. Cee Dee Lamb is a no-brainer, but I'm unsure about my last choice between: Elijah Moore, DeVonta Smith, Kyle Pitts, and George Pickens. I keep talking myself into and out of all four of these guys. I appreciate any suggestions you may offer. Thank you!
  7. Unfortunately, you could kind of see this coming. You can’t keep the Rockies hitters down at home, our bullpen was pushed yesterday to get a win, and, yet don’t know, it just a had a bad vibe the whole night (to me, at least) despite the nice start by Woodruff. I guess go get ‘em tomorrow?? I’m just going to try to enjoy baseball the last few weeks.
  8. For me, this would be wasted money on me (not for the charity, obviously.) I rarely, if ever, are looking at those messages on any scoreboard in any stadium because I'm almost always watching something going on down on the field. Even between innings, those "contest" and other entertainment . . . I just don't care about it. It's really just one, big advertisement. And I get enough of those at home. [insert old man shaking fist at cloud here.]
  9. Well, usually we have heard by now that a prospect was going to be promoted. So, I'm not optimistic.
  10. I told my wife that we may want to go down to Phoenix this weekend and see the Crew. They won't be back there until 2025 when we possibly could see them (2023 will be a no-go, since we'll be at work on those days.) She's not buckling so far.
  11. Not if our team can't beat the dregs of the division . . . . Or any dregs of any divisions, for that matter . . . .
  12. Well at least I can hear the pregame ceremony on the radio. ?
  13. I agree with Brock. I don’t view San Diego as big market so if they want to take on the Dodger and Yankees, I’m all for it. Except If the Brewers play them. In that case, I want the Padres to play like the Bad News Bears before Kelly Leake joined the team.
  14. I think that I would grade the deadline for the Brewers to be a solid B- I think Bush will be fine. I think Rogers and Lamet will be fine. And the prospects will be fine. Rosenthal, though, seems to be a wild card, to me. He could be awesome to have around. And he could be a complete nothing-burger. Time will tell. The real reason I graded them a B-, though, is because I am very fearful that trading Hader away has really hurt the clubhouse chemistry and may help out in a precipitous fall in the standings and completely out of the playoffs. I'm thinking "2021 Padres" kind of fall. It seems like the clubhouse, as a whole, was not too happy with the trade of their friend. Clubhouse chemistry is sometimes just as important--if not more important--than the skills they have out on the diamond. I just wouldn't be surprised if they win all of 8 games in August and maybe 10 in September. I hope that I am wrong.
  15. One of my biggest regrets as a baseball fan happened in 1998 or 1999. My cousin worked in media relations with the new Diamondbacks in Phoenix and one evening, out of the blue, he called me to ask if I wanted to come down from my apartment (four hours away) to hang out at the ballpark and keep stats for the Dodgers tv booth. Now, I was 26 or so and had just been getting my feet wet in my teaching gig, so I didn’t have a ton of sick days to cash in on a whim. Plus, my ‘84 Dodge Omni was a piece of crap and I was at the point when I really couldn’t depend on driving it through the desert heat for four hours without worrying about a breakdown. (Yes, I was quite frugal back then.) Anyway, I would have had three nights in the booth with Mr. Scully, and I turned it down. An interesting epilogue, Mr. Scully joined Twitter a couple of years ago and I tweeted at him and told him the story. I got a short reply from him (or the person who ran his Twitter) which I found to be pretty cool. RIP
  16. After thinking about things about today, I guess I wouldn't be too upset if the Brewers were to acquire Gallo, assuming, of course, that we don't have to deal any major prospects for him. For some reason, I sense a Matt Carpenter-esque resurgence from him on a different ball club. He really can't be much worse than Jonathan Davis, right? I mean, Gallo at least gets on base with some good base on balls skills. Maybe I just have trade deadline fever and want to see the Brewers make some more moves.
  17. Well, towards the end of April (or maybe it was early May?) I made a post about Devin's issues at the start of the season, wondering about residual broken hand issues/scar tissue affecting him. Since that thread, Williams began to turn things around, leading to the current dominance. Many other posters had faith, even back then, and I appreciate those that talked me down from the proverbial ledge at the time. Perhaps, I need to make a thread about Hader.
  18. Honestly, I could see a resurgence from him, ala those Braves acquisitions last season. I’m not saying that will definitely happen, but perhaps getting out of a losing situation with Oakland could be that change of scenery that is needed. This isn’t the sexiest trade out there by any means, though.

  20. Here’s another EV question that I haven’t seen answered, even in articles I have read: how quiet is the cabin, compared to an ICE vehicle, while driving on various roads? Is it just as noisy or are they more sound-proofed (ish)?
  21. Somehow, I have this fear that, in one week, we'll all look at what it actually took to get Soto out of Washington by some other team (i.e. not the Brewers) and ruminate, saying, "that's all?!?!" because some team got lucky by sending less than Washington's asking price. I still feel we should go for it and at least provide a highly competitive offer. Heck, try to acquire Soto, Corbin, AND Josh Bell and really see what happens! (Yes, sometimes I live in Fantasyland)
  22. Do they have manual transmission EV??? I'm serious, because I don't know.
  23. Of course, I was referring more towards going after Soto. But I was not clear about that, and I am sorry for that.
  24. While I agree with this comment for the most part, I also can totally see the team discussions centered around a "let's go for it and go get a World Series while we still have Burnes, Woodruff, and Hader" type of attitude. While I would be (beyond) thrilled if a series of trades would boost the Brewers into the World Series, it would also be disappointing to see the loss of a bunch of high prospects. That is an entirely valid concern. However, that's all they are . . . prospects. There is no guarantee that they'll amount to anything. We could just as easily hold onto them all, we don't make a World Series during the Burnes, Woodruff, and Hader era, and the prospects tank when they reach the big leagues. I was talking about this with my wife during the 13-inning game the other night, and I am starting to feel that the Brewers should at least put out a very competitive offer for Soto. The Nationals might not pick the Yankees or Dodgers or Mets or [insert team here] and go with the Brewers. Who knows??
  25. It sure looked like a cutter. The batter (Trevino?) said that it was a cutter. Maybe he threw it just as an homage to Burnes
