  1. BOLD 1. The Brewers run away with the division, winning 97 games. 2. Cincinnati somehow finishes 2nd, winning 82 games. 3. Ben Sheets stays healthy all year, wins 19 games, strikes out 211, and still comes in 2nd in the Cy Young to Johan Santana. VERY BOLD 1. EDIT: 1. Not likely, but still possible, I suppose. 2. Cincy may very well win 82 games, but at this point, looks doubtful that they'll finish 2nd. 3. Could very well happen, minus the Johan part (unless he has an unbelievable 2nd half--again. Hasn't he done that like 2 years running?
  2. great day of hoops. I can't believe all four games in Tampa were upsets. Nice! can we have the great avatar debate somewhere else? although, I'm not sure which is worse--the bloody guy, which I thought was amusing the first time I saw it and then moved on, or the (what I'm guessing is the) bible beating guy, which I find offensive, especially this weekend.
  3. I'm not a proponent of Escobar starting with the big club either, but why the argument that "he has never even played AAA"? There are many players who have stepped up to the big club and produced big time (Pujols, I'm sure there's others). Of course, many who tried also failed miserably. What have we got to lose? If Counsell is so "bad" then it can't get much worse. Enrique Cruz was much worse than Escobar and we gave him a "chance" as a rule V player. It can't get worse than that. Again, I'll state that I'd rather he stay in the minors, but if necessary, I'd be up for giving it a chance.
  4. wow, what a cheap-o mooch. Owe tons of rent and, apparently, bills out the wazzou? I'd have thrown him out alot sooner, best friend or not. I knew somebody like that once but got wise to her "scam" from other people. Sure enough, she tried to live with us for a while, but I got the money up front first. She didn't stay too long.
  5. I much more enjoy the morning show with Buck Martinez and the other guys. Otherwise, I don't see anything "new" in this press release except for the baseball music thing. Are they now going to broadcast all teams' broadcasts regardless of home/away? I'd doubt it.
  6. a little disappointment here as the 20-pack tickets arrived in the nice printed book format, very classy looking, but the Opening Day tickets we ordered as partial-season ticket holders were of the old printed format that I could get at ticketmaster. Kind of thought that for Opening Day that ALL tickets could be the nice printing and such. But, alas, I also know all World Series tickets aren't the "nice" ones--there are cheapoes out there.
  7. I wish I could be paid my entire year's salary and then some to fly to Japan for a couple of days and do some work.
  8. I have to say, I probably picked the most boring bracket possible, besides picking all top-seeds. No major surprises in my bracket. I just think this is going to be the year of the "ho-hum" NCAA Tournament with just a few upsets, but nothing major and no specatacular runs by improbable cinderella teams. I got UNC, Kansas, Texas, and UCLA in the final four. Oh, boy . . . . such risk by me . . . .
  9. I love how you have the option to let Yahoo completely fill in your bracket randomly! How sweet would it be if it won the whole shabang for you? Of course, it'd probably pick 2 #16 seeds upsetting a #1!
  10. I'd be interested in any of those baseball card sets, just for humorous reasons, mostly. It'd be like, "hey, I remember that guy. Boy, did he suck," or, "wow, look at the uniform on that guy!"
  11. was at today's game. was like watching a boring game. seriously, no excitement whatsoever. Even the Hart and Hardy homers were "big deal" quality. maybe cause they were against Gil Meche and Hideo Nomo. Seriously, we had more fun talking/listening to the guys behind us and their "dollar in the cup" betting game (the ol' put a dollar in if the batter makes an out, take a dollar out if he gets a hit). Nice weather. Nice win. even if they went 10 innings. Brent Chugs! (boy, I hope he reads this!)
  12. a day in Maryvale + a night at Applebees's = a very nice day. I'm drunk.
  13. hey, was that Trevor Hoffman coaching third base? or is that Glenn Hoffman? or Dustin Hoffman, keeping with the movie stars as ballplayers theme of the week?
  14. alright, here's a quibble about the broadcast. . . . just watched that Ho-Chunk Casino commercial and towards the very end, they show the dealer/player spreading out the cards- Ten, King, Ace. Now, unless they are playing Three Card Poker, who in their right mind is hitting on a "20"? Because that would be the only other possibility. I know, it's a commercial but it still bugs me a bit. Most people think of blackjack when you think of cards in a casino (although Hold 'Em is probably catching up in that race) and with those cards, you can either 3 combinations, 2 of which are automatic wins (unless you take the even money when the dealer has an ace showing) and the other is 20. And nobody, except Bugs Bunny maybe, would "hit" on a 20.
  15. I am impressed. I am getting the game here in AZ on DTV 642. I really didn't think I'd get it. Pleased as punch right now--except that I caught a cold right before my spring break, so instead of enjoying a beer with the ballgame, I get to start my time off of work with tea and Cold-eeze. Should make it fun down in Maryvale tomorrow.
  16. it's not really an issue about my tickets, but I didn't feel that it warranted a separate thread, so here goes . . . I want to give a major shoutout to my account representative, Nate Hardwick. He has pulled through once again! I sent the Brewers an email the other day about the media guide coupon that comes with our package. It was regarding how I can never claim it, since I live in Arizona. I was only wondering if there was any way that I could claim it in Maryvale tomorrow when I'm there or if there was anything else to do. I received an answer today from Nate, stating that he would mail one to me so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I'm very pleased with this organization and their customer service. To quote Judge Smails, "Top notch! Top notch!" So, I don't think Nate scours this site or posts here (or does he???), but I wanted to give him major props in public. I already thanked him via email, but this just gives me such a good feeling.
  17. I know that I was surprised to see it show up on the on-screen guide on my Directv. So, we'll see if I actually get the game, though. I'm not counting on it.
  18. the MTV generation? Which one? the generation that actually watched MTV for the music videos or the generation that watched MTV for the reality shows?
  19. huh? what dinner? I don't remember this. you mean the winter warmup thing? If so, I totally missed the boat. plus, what good is the "free autographed baseball?" They basically billed you for it by charging you a dinner.
  20. woot put one up tonight. not sure how reliable it is but it's cheap.
  21. got my 20-pack today here in AZ. Now I get to drool all over them before sending them back up to WI to the in-laws.
  22. are we doing a limit to how many entries we can do? I would think just one per member to keep things fair.
  23. your lookin' at it
  24. I'm in. I'll have to do it next week. But this is always fun. Just for braggin' rights, though, right?
  25. Fire Ned Yost!
