  1. although I did score a slingbox on tonight's woot. Nice price and it's new, not a refurb. I didn't need the super-deluxe version so this should suit me perfectly.
  2. well, see you next year, Bucky as for the refs, I don't see it either. Yeah, they were in the bonus early in the second half but it didn't matter. The Badgers could have been foul free in the 2nd half and they still would have lost by 10, based on their shooting. So much for Davidson cooling down after halftime. Or is this game just a small sample size? I don't think so. Somebody else mentioned it, too. They barely lost to Duke and Carolina during the season, they beat Gonzaga and Georgetown and now Wisconsin. They are for real. I could easily see them beating Kansas now. And I think that is GREAT for the game of College Basketball. Two teams, George Mason and Davidson, to make the elite 8 (and maybe the final four) in the last 3 years that no-one and their grandma would think they'd get anywhere near that far, is just AWESOME to see. Pretty soon, some #16 seed will win an NCAA tourney game. As for the Badgers tonight: Their swing offense turned into a stand around while one guy tries to penetrate and/or pop a quick perimeter shot. And that was BEFORE it turned into a laugher. But I think that the worst part was that their standout part of their game--defense--completely disappeared when a very, very, very quick and athletic team took them to the woodshed. My Bucky Badger inflatable is about to be boxed up for another 5 months until football season. Some can say that this was a great hoops season for the Badgers. I can say no. Was it fun? sure. Was it great. No. Not unless you win it all. And I'm done. (and some of you are probably thankful for that. Don't let me know about it, though.)
  3. I can't believe I'm wasting my beer on this festival of crap. I'm going to run out soon and be all depressed and no beer to help cheer me up. who said just let curry score his points. Doesn't help that the Badgers can't do anything. And. . . . they just pulled the game in favor of Stanford-Texas. damn it
  4. how are the Brewers doing? even with Curry out of the game for his "Breather" we can't do jack.
  5. what happened to our vaunted swing offense? All I see are guys standing around. Oh, and Curry is a stud.
  6. I don't know if this is worse than losing to UNLV last year or not.
  7. at this point, just foul him. for crying out loud
  8. I'm calling it now: Badgers are going to lose this game.
  9. no hidden charges or catch. Truly legit. Now, sure, some items are reburbished so the warranty isn't anything to write home about, but most of the stuff is one heck of a deal.
  10. yeah, this hasn't been quite the game I thought it would be. We can't stay in for offensive rebounds because we have to get back on defense for their pressure offense. This could be a long night. On another front, is this first half just flying by or what?
  11. yeah, I totally missed both 42" LCD tvs. Though, they were refurbs, $700 wasn't that bad of a deal.
  12. I can't believe that we're on page 2 of the vent thread and the regular season hasn't even started yet. Can this thread please just be the pre-season/spring training version? Our trial run for the year, if you will?
  13. count me in on the "tears in his eyes" for absurd frequency during movies that you wouldn't think deserve crying ("Transformers"????? Why did I have teary eyes for that?!?!) But my killer is Dead Poets Society at the end when the students are climbing on their desks. I just cannot make it without blubbering. Now my wife is going to read this and give me crap (well, more crap than normal).
  14. I can't tell what Ellsbury (I'm assuming that's him) is doing but Braun looks very clean cut and everything while the others have this "punk" vibe to them and their facial expressions. maybe it's just me, but first impressions aren't that good for the other players.
  15. I thought that live action series that Lucas is working on is supposed to be stories in-between Episodes III and IV, but maybe I'm mistaken. I enjoyed the prequel movies for what they are. . . . movies. And, personally, the idea that the emperor put secret code into the stormtroopers to turn them from good guys to bad guys really helped explain things to me. I thought it was a good-to-brilliant idea. The rest of the film? It was okay. I suppose some of the complaints that Anakin changed to the dark side way too fast and easy was kind of hard to believe. But remember, he's "weak and full of anger".
  16. if this were the 80s and if he played for the Brewers, I'd say Pat Tabler. That guy was an animal, especially with the bases loaded. Look it up. But for present day, without looking at the survey (I'll do it tomorrow, I need to go to bed), I'd say Prince Fielder. JJ Hardy a close 2nd.
  17. let's see . . . 1) Secret Stadium Sauce 2) BW3 Carribean Jerk sauce 3) BW3 Honey BBQ sauce 4) gee that might be it off the top of my head. I'll edit this if I find more.
  18. going back to the WKY 3-pter to win, I seem to remember thinking it was a horribly lucky, poorly-chosen final shot when I first saw the initial angle. But then they showed the same shot from the floor angle and despite having 3 guys "in his face", they really weren't. He was spotted up a good 3 or 4 feet behind the arc and had plenty of room to get the shot off, even with 3 guys jumping after his shot. It wasn't the prettiest end-game play but it worked. And somebody else asked if Crean just asked to "take it up the length of the court and throw up a shot" or something along those lines. I know you were joking but for those that don't realize it, sometimes, that's all a coach can do. I've seen it happen on my college team where the coach made sure the best ballhandler/shooter took it up and drove the lane while the rest cleared out. Sometimes that is the play. At other times, the coach will draw out an elaborate play but since the play is based on the assumption of "X" defense, they go with it. If the defense is doing something totally different, the play either goes nowhere--fast--or the players have to adjust on the fly, resulting in some form of playground hijinks that looks haphazard. And that's what I've seen all too much this tourney. When I was a coach, we had a bunch of end-game plays in our playbook, practiced them every day, and ran them like a fine-oiled machine. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use them once (we were either up big or down big) but we were prepared if we did. Would they have worked? Who knows?
  19. geez, I was there on a basketball trip back in college but that was over 11 years ago. I remember it being a nice destination, but we weren't able to do anything "fun" since it was a school/athletics trip. Very beautiful area, though. I remember having to take the ferry from Denmark to Sweden.
  20. wowsie, woosie, wowsers! We get Davidson instead of Georgetown. Sorry, guys, but I better not read any posts about how "easy" a game that'll be. Especially since we all remember a game back on January 20th in Green Bay that so many people thought would be a sure win for the home team. Davidson reminds me a ton of Gonzaga back in 1998-1999 when they first gained prominence.
  21. ah, yes. I forgot about Empires at War. I only played the PC demo, but I would buy it when it arrives on shelves in the $10 bargain bin.
  22. and Texas A&M loses as somebody, again, tries to recreate Tyus Edny and go coast to coast. You know, fellas, it worked for him because he was fast, agile, and the team spread out and forced the defense to come out after them a bit. The A&M guy? He decides to drive the lane, 1-on-4, among the trees. Gee, no wonder he got his shot blocked by two guys. Is this really the play that the coach drew up? That's the best he could come up with? Where's Homer Drew when we need him?
  23. 1. Jedi Knight series (Dark Forces II, Outcast, Academy) were all awesome 2. Battlefront (quite fun but I don't play multiplayer except for with family--don't care for people to pwn me and then rub it in. besides my family, that is) 3. KOTOR (have to base this on reputation, though, as they still sit in my "games yet to play" box 4. Lego Star Wars (tried it with my brother. it was interesting. 5. Star Wars Racer (it was kind of fun, too) 6. X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (very fun, what little I played of it)
  24. you know, nothing flips my gourd about college basketball about guys trying to be the next Tyus Edny and ballhog the crap out of the ball in the final seconds. That, and playground ball in the last 30 seconds or so.
  25. can't watch the game right now. I'm surprised that they are up. Wonder if that'll last, though. Won't James start jackin' shots and trying for unnecessary steals and stuff?
