  1. Just a quick question on this: can you update your roster in the middle of a franchise season? I know on PC Madden you can't do that. You have to load a roster at the beginning of the franchise and that is your roster that you play with the whole way. If you want to keep it up to date, you have to make the trades, signings, etc. yourself. If you try to use an updated roster in the middle of your franchise, you crash the game. Maybe on PS3, PS2, and XBox360 you can so I'm wondering if that has been fixed.
  2. everybody all together now . . . . "at least the Cubs lost." I still agree with what Melvin and Yost were quoted with Mark A. during the interview in the booth tonight: This is what we wanted, no matter the stress. This beats the living snot out of 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, etc. etc. etc. stopping briefly at 1992 and then continuing on to 1983.
  3. I would assume that any money spent on unused playoff tickets will be either refundable (maybe not completely) or put towards next season's seat holder plan. I guess we'll find out when we get the brochures. You guys in Wisconsin will get them about 3-4 days before I do.
  4. what difference will it make when the starter and the first reliever out of the pen put the game out of reach? I kid, sort of.
  5. hey, at least he's keeping up his spring training regimen of "make an error, hit a homer". I think Braun will be fine and I totally agree with Boy Jeenius regarding Mike Schmidt. I was looking for somebody like that on baseball reference, a player that struggled big-time defensively at first then blossomed. Robin Yount came quickly to mind. Gotta give the kid some time. IMHO, he's been better at third than I expected so far, as most reports made it sound like every other throw would end up in the first base stands. I haven't gasped and held my breath when a ball was hit to Braun (ala Weeks last year) in quite a while.
  6. ennder, I'd agree with you that his "luck" numbers are what is killing him. And I agree that he's having a good year from a certain point of view. But as others have said, we need to do something because right now he needs a break from the mental part of pitching. Maybe skip his next start? We're in a playoff race and something needs to be done. Either that or Capuano has to "wake up" in those "luck" situations and pitch.
  7. Brandon Webb pitches on Friday night for the D-Backs so we may (probably) get him on Wednesday of that series.
  8. bah, if they were the REAL '82 team, they were probably too drunk up in the Gehl Club to notice. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  9. they cut into the post-game press conference with Yost mid-answer, but Ned made it sound like he will be talking to Doug about finding someone to replace Capuano. At least, that's what I kind of got out of it. He didn't say "Capuano" but his tone and demeanor made it seem that that's what he meant. I can't say for sure, though, as, again, they came into it as Ned was answering, so I didn't hear the question. Do you think that there is any way Melvin could find somebody ala Don Sutton here in August? I know Pittsburgh wants to keep Matt Morris, so would there be anybody else out there?
  10. wait a minute! Who's kicking? Unless I'm playing some serious franchise mode in a game, it's "go for it" everytime. No punting, no field goals. Okay, I guess you have to kick-off, but even if you shank that you should be good enough on defense. I wish a game would let you have the option that the computer would not kick field goals or punt either.
  11. I read that thread, Brian, and was reading with a big ol' smile as it just got funnier and funnier. I seem to remember Hoffy on this board even when I joined in 2004, so he's WAYYYYY off. It would be interesting to see (and place bets) if you would contact him with a "truce" and let him join the site again, giving him strict rules and such that he would have to agree to, just to see how fast he'd drop those rules and be banned again. I remember he really knew his stuff about baseball, though. Oh, and that whole diatribe about his life (his CV in that jsonline board link)! Wow, what blather! Trying to impress people by being pompous and egotistical is no way to impress people.
  12. brewers19, I've had automatic renewal of gameday audio for a few years now and have never had the sports illustrated subscription added on to my existing subscription, nor automatically charged to my card. Interesting why you have. Hopefully, you're checking up on that. I'll have to keep my eye on that one next spring when it renews.
  13. Bud Selig has nothing to do with the lifetime suspension of Shoeless Joe. Judge Kennesaw Mountain Landis handed that down back in the 1920s. Now, I guess you can argue that Bud has the power to re-instate Jackson, but you state that you "completely disagree with his lifetime suspension of shoeless joe" and that is completely wrong.
  14. if this soccer league also gives a Player of the Year trophy or something like that (I doubt it, since it's 5-8 year olds, but I've been surprised before), make a little grassroots movement around the league's other coaches to vote for somebody else. That way, when the 9-year old scores 8 goals in the championship game and totally expects to win this trophy, he will be devastated when someone else wins and will go home and cry like a baby. Heck, maybe he'd lose it right there on the field! Man, am I mean!
  15. nope, not going to get it. I play my games on my PC (don't have a console) and last year I played Madden 2005 that my wife bought me for Christmas at $9.95. Then, I recently bought the EA Sports Collection that has Madden 2006 in it so I'll play that one this year. At least I can go to some online sights (footballfreaks.com or something like that) and get updated rosters. I guess it sure beats paying $50 every year. Just 2 years ago, I was still playing Madden 2002! Sometimes, I like to pull my old Sega Saturn out and play the Madden 97 & 98 games I had. So funny to see the changes. I just wish EA would put their college FB game out on the PC. I'm getting tired of playing NCAA Football 1999!
  16. for the umpteenth time this season, at least the Cubs lost, too.
  17. Just thinking the other day about how the only people that love Barry Bonds tends to be San Francisco Giant fans where as everyone else pretty much despises him. The same seems to go with Bud Selig. Everyone that is a Brewers fan tends to love Bud but everyone else detests the guy and thinks he is horrible for his views towards steroids and such. True home-town homerism at its best, if you ask me. Anybody else want to chime in on this? I'm sure it's pretty much the same with many players (i.e. Derek Jeter perhaps?)
  18. this is my first experience with slowness on Yuku. Very frustrating.
  19. way to wait for something good to hit, Billy. Oh, well. At least we're not being no-hit.
  20. first series win on the road vs an NL team since April. That was the point. Powell stated it correctly last night. Wasn't really listening this morning. Come on Brewers! Come on Rockies! Let's get it started off right! Ugh, Yuku is ezboard slow today!
  21. Rick Ankiel is Roy Hobbs come to life! (almost)
