  1. Enthusiasm for watching/listening to the remainder of this game. "What is Who Cares?"
  2. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na. Cubs Stink! Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na. Cubs Stink! Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na. Cubs Stink! (to be sung to the Batman TV Theme) on a side note, I can't believe Brant Brown signed 8650 of those cards. Somewhere 8650 card collectors are rolling their eyes over that "prized" find in a pack of cards.
  3. I'll take Dodger-Mets games for $300 "What game am I stuck with on both FOX channels I receive on my Directv?" (btw, glad you changed it from "retorical" questions to just questions. I was confused for 10 minutes reading all these and wondering how on Earth they were retorical!)
  4. maybe it's because they know the runner is not going to score anyways so why bother cheering. Sorry, just had to say it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. ugh, I go out to water the rose bushes and it's 8-4 in the 9th. And if Parra is in, things must not have gone well in the 8th. On an different note, Parra looks darn good.
  6. boy, nice couple of items in the last 5 minutes. a leopard-print computer mouse and a speaker phone gizmo with moving lips.
  7. did you just create bad mojo by starting the IGT before woogie? Or did you know ahead of time that he couldn't do it today? Either way, you're right. It's the Giants.
  8. HOORAY!!!! Best news I've heard all day!
  9. looks like I didn't miss anything overnight this time either. Golf balls? Seriously??
  10. That I'm going to be in pain tomorrow. I sat out on the porch listening to the game and having some beers when I decided that I needed some sun. So I moved the lawn chair into the 106 degree Arizona sun for about an hour while reading Baseball Weekly and continuing to listen to Uecker and Powell. I thought only an hour wouldn't kill me so I only put some sunscreen on my feet after they started to feel like they were burning. Big mistake. Funny thing is only my upper arms, chest, and tummy are burned. The rest of me that was exposed, even without sunscreen, is fine and normal. I guess I now know where my sensitive sun skin is located.
  11. I don't have a myspace page. Of course, I'm also 34 years old and married. Why on earth would I need one? Should I be that insecure that I need "friends" that badly? edit: Hope this doesn't come off as condescending. Not what I meant at all. Those that have myspace pages, have at it and have fun. I can see the benefit. I just don't need it.
  12. yep, I bought the iriver clix 2 that was early on in the woot-off. It was a refurb (I normally don't touch those) but I bit on the price. Too good to pass up for that player, which is awesome.
  13. before game 3 of the 82 series, I was able to flag down Chuck Porter to autograph my WS Ball that I "caught" off the ground of the bleachers during batting practice. Yep, an almost-nine-year-old me didn't care who it was and I got Chuck Porter.
  14. ugh, this Robosapien is going to take forever. So glad I went to bed when those mice came up. Didn't miss anything really great.
  15. yep, so far this woot-off blows. It's early. I really wanted that slingbox, but it was a refurb so no way.
  16. blech! That's all I have to say about this one from the offense. Well, no tv here in AZ so I'll be grilling up some brats, sitting on the patio with the misters going, having some brews, reading Baseball Weekly, and listening to the game. Go Brewers!
  17. All I can picture with this statement is some guy walking around the catwalks and turning a giant hand crank like you would use to drop an awning on your porch or off your RV.
  18. they just stated on the Lead-Off Man show that DLee will start serving his suspension today.
  19. I haven't read the thread yet but I'll chime in on a bit of personal experience with the sprained finger/torn tissue. When my wife and I returned from our trip to WI a few weeks ago, my left hand index finger was just killing me (presumably injured just from driving--no, I don't understand it either). I went to the doctor and he took some pic's and an MRI and said I had some torn tissue in my 2nd knuckle of the finger (using layman's terms here--a doc would've used metatarsal or something, or is that the foot bones?) He prescribed an anti-inflammatory and rest. I am into week 3 and the pain has subsided to the point that I can use the finger again, but everytime I bend that finger/clench my fist I can still feel discomfort in that joint. So, I'm sure it will probably take the full 5-6 weeks to completely heal. If I was an MLB pitcher with this injury, I'd feel confident that I could go out there and pitch after 3 weeks of rest. But I'm not and I'd probably risk re-injury. Just thought I'd throw this out there as I am experiencing the exact same thing as Sheets, only 1 finger over.
  20. I seem to remember that many appeals had to be heard in person on the East Coast, preferably in New York City. Since the Cubs don't go there at all any more this season (unless you count Pittsburgh or Miami as "East Coast") who knows when it will occur.
  21. I attended Luther College in Decorah, IA on the 5-year plan (4 years of studies, 1/2 year student teaching, 1/2 year writing senior paper). Most students do it in four years and I "walked" with my classmates at the end of the 4th year, but didn't actually "graduate" until all was completed. Oh, BA in Music Education. My work history while in school is kinda weird. I never once worked while in High School, probably not the greatest decision in my life, seeing as how expensive a private college is. But I did receive a very generous amount of grants, scholarships, and the like (my freshman year, I wrote a check out for $9.00 to pay for what was not covered) but some ran out over the course of studies so loans kicked in. Once in college, I had work-study programs. Freshman at Luther were pretty much given 2 choices: Food Service or Custodial. I chose Custodial. Did that for about 3 months. Luckily, I had volunteered to be manager for the basketball team (unpaid) and Coach Olinger got me out of the Custodial department and into the Fieldhouse Management department. As a result of getting all the time in at basketball practice and at games, I was quickly promoted to Fieldhouse Supervisor, which basically meant I was in charge of all the other student workers. I also got to head the Event Set-up department for sporting events, which meant clocking-in and setting up the football field/basketball court/volleyball nets, bleachers, etc. for the games and remaining clocked-in during the event in case of a "malfunction" like a basketball net ripping or whatever. This was in addition to being Fieldhouse Supervisor so, unbeknownst to the college but knownst to Coach Olinger, I was on the clock for two jobs simulaneously and paid for both. During summers, I worked at a local golf course taking reservations and tending bar. Tips pretty much paid for my bar hopping in college. Boy, if only I could do those jobs at the fieldhouse full-time.
  22. oh. my. gosh. I go on a weeklong trip (including packing a truck, etc.) from Phoenix to Minnesota and I miss all this???? And I'm only on page 2 of this thread so far! WOW! This is like the time I missed the lockdown at our school because I was in Colorado for a music thing and then I come to find out that everybody, including our principal and vice-principal, went out for drinks to decompress that evening. I mean, that just doesn't happen!
  23. boy, I feel really bad. I'm 34, about 5' 10" and weigh about 175. And I want to lose weight and get back to 160 or lower. Geez, am I shallow. Compared to alot of you that have bigger weight problems than me, I feel like a total heel because I want to drop a few when I'm probably just fine. Thing is, it really hit me the other night up in Minnesota. My cousin and I had just finished driving the moving truck to move him from Phoenix to Northfield, MN and about 8:30-ish, we decided to go for a walk. About half way through, we passed some high-school-ish girls, sitting on the back of a pickup truck, biding their time. Suddenly, one of them chimes out, "Are you guys bulimic?" My cousin and I are normal size and weight for our body types (he's 6' 4" or so) but our arms and legs have very little fat on them so they are extremely lean (muscular, but lean). It kinda hit home that maybe I don't look right. Of course, maybe it was just the "Mean Girls" temperment of these ladies. Anyways, I've got the tire going on, too, and that's all I need to get rid of, I guess. I'm always fairly active; guess I need more activity and less food and/or beer. Thanks for the advice and listening to me babble.
  24. what I saw of the Mays thing was Bonds helping out Mays and stuff but almost all other players that were near the front of the pack were the "big name" guys--Jeter, ARod, some others. All guys that looked like they were placed near the front of the pack by MLB to be visible on television.
