  1. man, Uecker9, I had to look that one up to refresh my memory. I knew it was Lynn Dickey and Chester Marcol in the photo but I couldn't remember for the life of me what the big moment from the game was.
  2. I've read about that Donkey Kong movie. Sounds very interesting. Didn't realize it was out yet. Thanks for the heads up!
  3. I didn't see any problems. I just added something from a different article. No problem, here.
  4. Estrada could get a stolen base on one of those hit and run pitches thrown in the dirt that is blocked by the catcher and rolls away. Since he was running, it wouldn't be a wild pitch. Not that we would Hit and run with Estrada on base, but still, stranger things have happened.
  5. to clarify, Braun's mom is Catholic according to the Baseball Weekly article. forgot to state that, in case anybody was wondering.
  6. that curve ball was just filthy. Nasty. Down right unfair. Congrats to the young guy. I've read a lot about him in the minors and I guess I'll be reading a bit more.
  7. no Brewers tv on Directv (in AZ at least). No Pirates TV either. this sucks. At least I'll get some work done while I listen to MLB Audio.
  8. I swear that last night I read the Braun article in Baseball Weekly and his mom was quoted as him being only half-Jewish and he doesn't celebrate it (not bar mitzvahed or anything). Mom also doesn't like the "Hebrew Hammer" moniker but allows it.
  9. question: who holds the tiebreakers for hosting the one-game playoff vs. either CHC or STL? Or do they do it via coin flip? I haven't paid attention to this for years.
  10. I don't want them to hire him, because then I'll have to read: "We've been Kremblased" all the time, and that just doesn't roll of the tongue as smoothly as what we have now.
  11. hey, we posted it at the same time! cool. We Arizona boys with teaching jobs don't need sleep. yeah, right.
  12. jeesh, we were listening to the game and I don't remember hearing ANY of this stuff. I'll have to check the archive.
  13. I'll tell you what, though. The way things are going, I'm glad I haven't sent in my post-season invoice yet. And I will probably wait to fax it to them on September 7th (or whatever the due date is). IF I decide it's worth the hassle.
  14. okay, okay, let's not get the Vent Thread locked. Settle down.
  15. I feel like the bishop in Caddyshack after he was struck by lightning then is sitting at the bar drinking: "There is no silver lining."
  16. I agree on the Linebrink stuff. I really was thrilled (and very surprised) that we got him in July. And he's pitched fairly well. But, man, I have no confidence in the guy at all. It's almost like he's pitching "poorly" to spite the Brewers for taking him out of his cozy surroundings in San Diego. I'm sure he's not--he's a professional--but, jeepers he's been very blah when he's came into close games. Where's his outstanding sinker? And that changeup that we couldn't touch back in May? Everything seems to be a straight ball. If it's one thing that goes well (Suppan tonight and some 2-out clutch hitting from Corey Hart) it's 2 things that go bad (strikeouts on pitches at their eye [Fielder, Braun, Mench, others], bullpen disintergrates.) So glad that we saved our best reliever one inning too late.
  17. yeah, the off-topic thread is the only one that is not viewable at work, so that's why I am guessing that it was the tags (videogames and youtube, like your example). The Norton system on our network at work gives each page a "score" that will restrict the viewing of that page due to the use of too many words that are filtered. The first time I logged on and checked out the site at work, the off-topic page received a 980 score, which is terrible. But it has since then dropped to the 300s, still to high to see anything. Like I said, before the changeover to Yuku I could read off-topic. Now I can't. It's not a big deal (as in, you don't need to make big changes just for me).
  18. I can't make a prediction like that yet. I must know if Sheets will be back and healthy for the entire stretch or not first. That sad, I'm almost ready to sob uncontrollably because the season's almost over!
  19. "the only major things that I have with it is that you can't hit anything outside the strike zone" that's wrong. I hit outside pitches all the time. granted, not the pitches WAY outside but you can reach the pitches just off the plate. But you also have to be aimed towards right field with the left analog stick for it to work. Anything on the inside I'll foul off if I get a piece, but every now and then I'll chop one up the middle or hit a little flare to left field. It's also all in the datafile that you use. But, again, that's just a PC feature.
  20. well, at least this explains the ESPN Page 2 blurb about this today. I had no idea what they were talking about. Thanks for posting that. I needed a good laugh.
  21. ah, I stand corrected. I knew it was something along those lines, though.
  22. I've been a D-Back fan since their inception in 1998 as I moved to AZ the previous fall for my teaching job (Fall '97). I'll always love the Brewers but it's also pretty neat-o to have followed a team since they first began play.
  23. heck, the way things are going, the Pirates AND the Reds are going to be back in the race in 2 weeks.
  24. well, that explains alot, really. Wonder if it reallyhas been bothering him for a while now or not.
  25. boy, I thought the Brewers in 2004 set that record for difference of first and second half. Maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe it was the NL record.
