  1. I don't know about the uniforms but I can pretty much guarantee that, unless there is precipitation, the dome will be open for any potential World Series games. I'm pretty sure I remember reading about that in 2001 and the Astros in 2005 also had their roof open for the WS even though they chose to close it for the playoffs. So, dress warmly everybody if we're still playing in very late October.
  2. kind of interesting that both "Final Man" votes are all pitchers. I guess LaRussa and Leyland were either afraid of running out of pitchers or MLB told them to just put pitchers on the list so they don't have a "tie" situation. Kind of hard to prevent that really.
  3. well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this. I had thought I had some sort of spyware going at first but after reading a bit online about it, that doesn't appear to be the case. Spyware Search and Destroy came up with nothing either.
  4. wow. I would venture to guess that it is health related, assuming it's true. Hope he's okay. I always thought he was a good manager and kinda got a bum rap in Cleveland even though he won there.
  5. I think Sheets would be #3 in that vote just because of the performances of Penny and Peavy. Same goes for the All-Star game; Sheets will be either the 3rd man out of the pen or the guy held back in case of extra innings.
  6. I'm using firefox 2.0.0.4 also
  7. naivin, AWESOME MAN! Wow is that spot on!
  8. Brian and/or anybody else, Lately, I have had problems getting the site to run well/open pages at a decent speed. When I click a topic in the forum, the status bar says "transferring data from google-analytics.com . . . . ." and stays that way for a good minute before opening the page. I did some searching on the web and found out by turning off javascript in my firefox options it eliminates that problem. Of course, that also means many links and hot buttons on all other sites don't work, so you have to constantly keep changing the javascript option on/off for various sites, which gets pretty annoying pretty fast. Anybody else see this happening with their systems? If so, what have you done about it? Does anybody else have any other suggestions?
  9. I thought that stuff was illegal. Maybe I'm wrong? In either case, I would think this is not something you'd want to be discussing on a public message board--especially if it is illegal.
  10. nice win. Always good to wallop on the Cubs. Now let's finish off the series tomorrow before heading for, gulp, Pittsburgh.
  11. I am thoroughly enjoying today's broadcast on mlb radio. Anytime we're up relatively big on the Cubs is fun to see. Darn FOX tv people.
  12. I think it is rather difficult to make a logo, uniforms, etc. for a team named the "Brewers" without some form of resemblance to beer. We're not the Milwaukee Popcorns or Taffy Makers. The only other things that I know you can "brew" besides beer is coffee, tea, witch's potions, and trouble.
  13. figures, I don't have cable so I don't get the Brewers. With Directv I get Mets-Phils. Ugh.
  14. I thought the Royals did something like this a few years back. Maybe 2002-ish? Or was that their "good" year? I seem to recall it was against the Yankees, but I'm not sure.
  15. I seem to remember reading that Brewers-Cubs on FOX would only be available in the Milwaukee and Chicago markets, which pretty much negates it being a "national" broadcast. Hence, I'm stuck with Phillies-Mets here in AZ. I guess I can always hope for rain, but otherwise, it's Uecker for me and hope they do some in-game updates with Jeanie Zolasko (sp?)
  16. as we were driving thru Utah and the Brewers were held scoreless in the top of the 2nd, I said to my wife, "This stinks of one of those games where we score big in the first and then shut down and rest on our laurels the rest of the game. You know, where we score a bunch of runs in the first and then none the rest of the game. Meanwhile, the opposition comes all the way back to tie and win the game." Man, I hate being right.
  17. pork sausage, here. Braunsboyfriend has rubbed me the wrong way for the past month and a half after he basically put down my entire profession (teachers). And since then I pretty much cringed every time he posted. He had got better lately, keeping things to baseball and making statements that were pretty level headed and well thought out. It's very unfortunate that he played the racist card. I thought maybe he had turned the corner, so to speak.
  18. We were in the middle of Monument Valley in Utah-Arizona when the game ended. I already had the channel changed by the time Pat Hughes got 3 "Cubs Win!" proclamations out of his mouth. Oh, well. Go get 'em tomorrow!
  19. Just wanted to say "Yay!" I just about lost control of the car driving down I-80 west of Des Moines first when Hall nearly hit it out and then when Damian did. Great game to listen to on the road. Thank God for xm radio. Too bad on Friday and (maybe) Saturday I'll have to listen to the Cubs guys but (as the other thread states) I enjoy Pat and am looking forward to a lot of "gosh darn its" and "oh no's" from Mr. Santo.
  20. yes, it was very loud in the ballpark. Sunday, too. But not as loud as the 9 run inning. I was working the video camera for the whole inning (my wife wanted some "game footage" and "sausage footage" so I just naturally picked the bottom of the 6th to segue into the race. When I get home I'll watch and see how loud it really was. We watched (in the park) the Weeks "single + error" to check my "camera shakiness" and there was none--a spot on job of steady handedness, not to mention got the whole play in frame. Can't wait to watch it all again!
  21. the only thing that bugs me about Craig Coshon is that he says this almost everytime somebody finishes talking or a video finishes up or whatever: "All right, very good." Anderson is getting better. You can tell he's getting a bit more comfortable calling HRs and other stuff. I'm really waiting to hear what he'll do for a walk-off win, especially one like Texas got against us with a BIG rally in the bottom of the ninth.
  22. Just got to our hotel in Pewaukee. Great game to be at. Fun time all around. Glad the boys were able to break out the bats in this one so we could see one win before heading back home. Ate at the .300 Club, too. I thought it was pretty good and the prices for a chicken sandwich, etc. were pretty much like at Friday's and such places so it wasn't that bad a deal. Well, we leave Wisconsin tomorrow AM. Darn it!
  23. I'll be there as will my wife before we start the trek back to Arizona. To spin off of lamp's inevitable post: WIN! WIN! WIN!!!
  24. eh, all I can think of with this phone is more problems with people in cars. Now they'll be reading the internet while driving. Great. I'll stick with my cell phone from 5 years ago. When folded, it's at least twice as thick as a razr, if not more so. I'll keep it mostly because I have a sweet ringtone of the horn on Rodney's car in "Caddyshack". I can't find it anymore online and I doubt on this old phone I could get it off of there and import it onto a new phone.
  25. my wife has been asking for weeks, "What's their purpose?" Now that that question has been semi-answered (i.e. drinking), why else would you buy them? They look rather lame.
