  1. I'll be listening once again as I watch Wisconsin. Go Brewers and Badgers!
  2. I'll third the "Suppan stinks today" point. Or does this belong in the venting thread? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif At least the weather is nice here for you Wisconsinites visiting our fine state.
  3. no tv for me here in AZ, so I'll listen to Ueck and Powell and watch the Badgers.
  4. iluvlamp, not to vent on anything, but is your new signature similar in vein to "These pretzels are making me thirsty!" ?
  5. don't we go through this kind of thing every year?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  6. billscott, question for you .. . You have Jenkins as your team offensive MVP but he is not your leader in any of your offensive categories. Are you thinking he'll just have a solid leadership-type season that is good but every category he is bested by one player? (i.e. Jenkins pretty much finishes 2nd in every offensive category?) Just wondering, not pointing fingers. I'll get to mine as we get closer to the end of spring training.
  7. I wasn't complaining. And, um, no, I'm not happy--we're losing!
  8. I haven't checked an Angels roster lately, but I'm guessing it is because Ueck is confusing Pedro with Vladimir. Although he has yet to use the correct name, so maybe there really is a Pedro Guerrero on the Angels. EDIT: nope, not on their 40-man or non-roster page.
  9. now we've got Erik Estrada as a catcher! I know it's just mistakes on his part, likely due to his age, but I know some people have blasted broadcasters for making mistakes (Bill Schroeder just the other day, for instance). For the record, I don't mind. Today, it's funny. And when Schroeder or anybody else makes a mistake, big deal. We all screw up on the job in little ways. They just have their's broadcast to multitude's of people.
  10. Ueck's by himself today! This should be fun to listen to. I'd imagine a few guests in the booth like yesterday? EDIT: never mind, they announced they have another engineer as Kent is on another assignment. EDIT2: I love it! PEDRO Guerrero is in RF for the Angels today. Hee hee.
  11. I'm assuming this is because you'd face the opposition's best hitters in the first inning (obviously) and then most of those same hitters in the 4th and 6th innings as the lineup turns over (assuming the pitcher can get the bottom of the lineup guys out with the occasional baserunner, and also assuming he doesn't let teams bat around all day)
  12. thanks for posting. I must have missed that the other day.
  13. I know the game's been over for a while, but in Bill Hall's defense, the sun and sky of Arizona in March is very difficult to read and much different than what you get anywhere else.
  14. I think most of us when we were 18-25 didn't invest or save any/enough money because we were all so poor from college and loans and other stuff. Do I wish I had done that? Yeah, but that's easy for me to say 10 years later when I make a steady income. Back then $20 a month was a HUGE deal. Some guys tried to get me to do some life insurance annuities thru Met Life or AAL or something and I tried to do it but after about a year, I had to quit because I couldn't pay my bills. I needed that $100 a month.
  15. I would concur. While I'm not using Venn Diagrams and Bell Curves and figuring out the hypoteneuse in daily life, I do use math--a lot!
  16. Yeah, you don't typically use a whole lot of the stuff that you learn in school, particularly in math. But as a teacher, I usually have to tell my students this story at least once a year. In my opinion, teachers teach you things to prepare you for the future. We teachers teach you this stuff because you never really know what you're going to do with your life until you get there. When I was in elementary school, junior high, and half of high school I had absolutely no desire to join the teaching profession. I was all baseball all the time and was going to get a job in baseball. Math became second nature for me, due to the statistics. I loved it and ate it up. But in 9th grade, all students at our parochial school were required to join "mass chorus" for the Christmas concert. I absolutely hated music. Never had a music class in elementary parochial school, with the exception of learning a hymn every Friday and having to sing it by yourself. But, for some reason, it suddenly clicked. I enjoyed it. I had a pretty good singing voice. Next year, I joined choir. And over the next 3 years, I became so successful at it that it became my major. I wanted to be a choir teacher at the high school level. Of course, this didn't work out, either, as I ended up enjoying the elementary music education program even more. Now, what does all of this have to do with hating math? For all you know, you will get a job someday that requires you to have some math knowledge. You never know. In six years, you may be working at practically any job where math/social studies/psychology/science/physics/physical education/etc. is a prime requisite. Teachers are out there throwing options out there to try to cover your bases--to prepare you for the future. And, as someone else pointed out, sometimes the answer isn't the important thing. It's how you got the answer. Good luck. Sorry for the rambling.
  17. hooray! Just 3 days and one hour until the first game of the spring. Baseball is so close, I can almost taste it. 'Bout time!
  18. so when can I expect my free residual items in exchange for the use of my idea? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. I know the guy is young, but Upton right now is on the career path to becoming the next John McDonald--a career backup infielder. I'm willing to give the guy some more time as he is only 23 (or thereabouts) but until he starts playing like a #2 overall pick, he's just a Joe Average. (kind of sounds the same way some people feel about another #2 overall, Rickie Weeks)
  20. a bag of balls to the Brewers
  21. Did we win yet? stupid directv. . . . .
  22. Peace to you, brother Geno. May your health become one with goodness and wellness.
  23. I think alot of it is that they had a bunch of guys have semi-career years (or post-seasons, in Weaver's case) in their walk year, and they just decided not pay them big money because they probably knew they weren't worth big money. Voila! Weak pitching staff after Carpenter. I believe I read somewhere that Isringhausen may miss April, depending on how his hip surgury went. They'll be evaluating him in Spring Training, which starts in 20 days for most teams! YAY!
  24. I was going to say Braggs, too, so I'll pick someone else. I know at the time I was thrilled to see Dave Nilsson hit .400 in Helena. I think that was 1987 or so? One more, even though he's not a Brewer (or was he? I think Detroit) was Jim Walewander. Loved the name, thought he'd be something.
  25. weirdos, you forgot Brady Clark in your .300 hitters.
