  1. Well, just got back from the game. Here are my thoughts: 1) Cappy looked like there was an "r" in between the "C" and "a" on the back of his jersey. Just not good. I agree with someone else who noted that he looked like he wanted to scream on the mound. 2) Again, the bullpen did a solid job, overall. I was impressed with Eveland. Granted, it was in mopup work, but still. 3) I talked with Shouse, DD, and Wise just a bit during BP and they thanked me for the support. D-Bow was pretty much ignoring everyone, even though he openly thanked me last night when I told him Good job in the All star game. 4) I really wanted to break the Gwynn story and tell you guys he was in the ballpark during BP but by then I figured you all knew. The kid looked pretty good in that one AB. I wonder if his old man was in the house? 5) That grab by Prince in the first inning was AMAZING! Best catch I've seen by an infielder in a LONG time! The play on the dribbler, though, was something to behold, as I believe he was the only one in the ballpark who didn't know that the ball was still on the ground. 6) Did anybody see us on TV? My wife, her friend and I were holding up the neon yellow signs every half inning after my wife talked to Bill and Daron before the game and they said we'd for sure be on TV. 7) Already this weekend I have had countless (okay, maybe 30) people stop me and talk about the Brewers just because I was wearing the hat, shirt, jersey, whatever. It's surreal. It's never happened all the other times I've been here for a D-Backs/Brewers game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif I sure hope the Crew can score some runs tomorrow. I'm going to try some reverse mojo and sit at Jackson's and drink beer and totally not watch a second of batting practice.
  2. Well, I just got back from the game and I'll say it was a good game to attend. Now, of course, I can say this because I am a D-Backs fan also, but as I told countless people tonight, these are my 3 games that I get to cheer someone else. I had a blast watching Prince show some hustle, Jenkins take one the other way (he was working on it alot during BP), and the bullpen (minus one reliever who shall remain un-named) do it's job quite well. DD appeared pretty off in the first inning. Pitches all over the zone made me feel it would be a long night, but he did finally "settle down", sort of, as he kept them in the game. I liked the intensity of the offense except for Carlos Lee, who looked to be hitting the ball to Flagstaff every at-bat. The DP ground out was one thing but his massive popup/flyball outs were big on air but small on distance. Of course, there was that one inning (6th?) that Lee, Prince, and Hall all skyed balls to the rafters only to be caught in the mid-outfield range. As for that aforementioned reliever that shall not be named, I didn't see one breaking ball. Four pitches, four fastballs. 98, 97, 97, 99. Ball game. Exciting game for the DBacks. Not so exciting for the Brewers. I was happy to see so many Brewer fans there. I must have counted at least 100 in Brewer garb there, so that was nice. Usually, it seems like I'm the only one. Well, that's all. Time to get one back tomorrow night. I'll be there again. Go Brewers!
  3. well, lookey here! We get the lead . . . . . . and then promptly cough it back up http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  4. I'm sorry, but the relievers "sort of" did the job. They got the ground ball. Unfortunately, they were ground balls right up the middle. And the defense couldn't do anything about it.
  5. No Mike Rivera? Maybe he's not in town yet?
  6. yep that's pretty much what I hypothesized in the Cappy all star thread
  7. was there really ever any doubt? About the vote, I mean, not the poopy!
  8. well, depending on your seats, it doesn't get much more high definition than actually being there!
  9. free baseball tonight, folks. It's been a while for the Crew, playing extra frames, that is. But at least we're 5-1 in the additional game time this year.
  10. yeah, for all those thinking of a "vote for Cappy" sign to get onto TV, forget it, unless you want fans in Ohio voting for him.
  11. I notice that the shifts worked great last year with Rich Dauer Maybe that's not a forte of Sveum/Yount
  12. had a party to go to tonight and I love my wife, who is a Brewer fan and all, but it got "too late" and she wanted to go home so we left "early" I haven't been to a great party in a while and it was great! Sometimes I wish I had gone on my own and called a cab home instead, though . . . . . Brewer fan wife, though. . . . I guess I can't complain too much
  13. Why on earth did Kolb even enter the 8th? Somebody, anybody, with a better track record would've been better. Heck, Barnwell might've got the outs. Kolb is no better than a mopup guy right now
  14. yay, we're losing but still only 3 1/2 out of the wild card. Boy, Where is that Drunk thread anyways? So glad that I sat outside, got some good sun in, drank a bunch of Miller Lite, and used up 2 1/2 hours making Beer Butt Chicken. . . . . . .
  15. Isn't tonight the dueling Buckethead action? If it is a success, just remember, that it was MY idea (I sent it to the broadcast crew 2 years ago). If it's a failure, just remember, that it was MY idea (and put me in the archives of Great Blunders in Baseball Stadium History)
  16. ah, I didn't even realize there was a preview box but there it is. Sorry about that
  17. just testing this out just testing the blue font, too
  18. Thank you again for allowing me to live vicariously through you guys. It seems like playing on that team would be a real hoot. In the spirit of our forum, however, I SERIOUSLY think you need to DFA every pitcher on the team. I mean, c'mon, a 9.9something ERA??!?!?!??!? nhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. I believe end was being sarcastic but didn't use the blue text
  20. I'm not ready to jump ship at all. We hung tough with the best team in the majors tonight and have 2 more shots. If I remember right, we went 3-3 against the Mets, the best NL team and hung tough in each game, I believe. We all could play the woulda-coulda-shoulda game with regards to Wise and the defense. Gotta hand it to Leyland for using his NL instincts and playing small ball. Back-to-back awesome bunts that both fielders should have just held onto--not much you can do about that but our fielders chose to throw them instead. Oh well, life goes on. Of course, I'm still unsure if Leyland bunts if Wise did hold onto the ball and keep the runner at first. Probably would have, but who knows. We'll get 'em tomorrow--or do our best to try.
  21. considering that none of the teams above us in the wild card standings are from the NL East, 2 are from the West (in a very wide open West, too--if it keeps up, that division is going to be won by another .500-ish team), and 2 are from our own division. . . . I like our chances. But I'm not about to say that it will be a cake walk. I do think, however, that it will be easier to jump over 5 teams this year than it was last year, assuming these same teams stay in the race. If we could manage some series sweeps against CIN/HOU and/or keep beating the cruddy teams (KC, MINN, CHC, etc) the rest of the way, hopefully the entire NL West will keep beating each other up and keep them all near .500. As for the East, the Mets, barring a major toilet flushing (injuries, big egos, drugs, etc) have that division more-or-less wrapped up and I don't see other teams making a push.
  22. I wouldn't rip on them too much. Watching Lee and Cirillo's deep drives both looked very good off the bat and I'm sure better in person. They were both close. I mean, c'mon, he could've just nonchalently called it a popup. They were caught in the moment, and, incidentally, they are professionals who know how to grab your attention. (it worked on you, didn't it?)
  23. anybody else's Gameday Audio cut out? Mine faded out in the bottom of the 3rd and has been MIA since, although the WTMJ jingle still plays at the end of innings.
  24. I'm still in the chatroom! Quite a game though; great pitching (minus one pitch to CC Sabathia), good hitting for the most part, no fielding problems (except for indecision by Brady Clark on one drive to the gap), and no managerial/coaching blunders. Of course, a big fat "YET" needs to be put onto the end of each of those statements.
