  1. The A's also spent a bunch of money to renovate the old Cubs location in Mesa after the Cubs left for their new digs.
  2. I heard Grindle earlier this week and I thought I heard a decent amount of Matt Vasgersian's voice in it. Not the jokes and cultural references, mind you, but just the sound of his voice. I think both of them will be great for the Brewers.
  3. Yes, that would be absolutely terrible (from this AZ resident's point-of-view.)
  4. I've heard a lot of other ones on MLB Network and I put Brian and Bill solidly in the middle. Yes, there are some worse than them but there are some better too. Brian is just so bland and vanilla and Bill is just so out of touch. I love the Nats guys. They have fun but aren't over the top. Yes, they are good, too. Of course, "SEE . . . . YOU . . . . . LATER!!!!!!!" is definitely over the top (to me) but it is with any team.
  5. Well, they did say the other night on the broadcast that, due to state law, they can't just drop the interim tag. I'll assume that means that since it's, technically, a state job that the public has to have the right to apply for it.
  6. Nice job, Minnesota.
  7. Maybe they qualify the draft order with a requirement that teams with at least 65 wins (just pulled a number out of a hat) will be considered for the #1 draft pick. I'm just making stuff up, of course, but short of doing something along these lines, you won't have any chance at forcing teams to "win as many games as possible." Sometimes, winning is not the goal. A rebuilding team is better off competing and putting players into spots and seeing who produces, who flames out, and who cares if they win or not. Or course, if they do win, great! But it is not the goal.
  8. I'm available. And once I took the job I would (probably) never leave.
  9. Woot for me! $110 for an Arizonan Directv subscriber is about $90 off the regular price. Of course, they'll probably boost Sunday Ticket to $600 next season to off-set the savings.
  10. Eh, it's like having Mark Reynolds back on the team. No big whoop. We've done that before and survived. I think the signing is mostly upside, with a little downside to it. And as someone else said, we needed a coffin, er, I mean a first baseman. Stearns traded away all our first basemen so he replaced them as best he could. Voila!
  11. I'm not able to see it until Dec. 30th so I second logan82's sentiment. I haven't been on Facebook for 3 days, too. The temptation for some people to ruin things is just too great for me to risk.
  12. I'd like some team do a Spaceballs bobble set. Bernie would be a natural for Dark Helmet.
  13. I'll play. Do I win anything for being the closest without going over? 2,033,461
  14. Jedd Gyorko, 2016 All-Star. Book it.
  15. I know that I already posted in this thread (2 years ago) but I also remember HBO airing the "Rich Little's A Christmas Carol" back when I was younger. I always thought that show was hilarious as well.
  16. How do these "predictions" even work, anyway? Do they use computer simulations of 100 seasons of 2016 and average them out? Is it all done on a spreadsheet, averaging out players' 3-year marks? Are they completely 100% statistical-based or is there any human element to them? I'm pretty sure that a good lot of us could come out with our own predictions and come relatively close on a good bunch of them. (I'm honestly asking those questions, by the way. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything.)
  17. Yup, completely agree with you, logan. This will become another Titanfall and be incredibly successful for a month or two before falling off the face of the earth because all the casual players will give up. Okay, it IS Star Wars, so maybe three months.
  18. I recall that as well but I thought that was in the ALCS vs the Angels. A fan grabbed the ball away from Oglivie. Now I'll have to find my old team yearbook that has a photo of the event inside.
  19. I thought he was hurt by a liner in Game 7..... I remember getting reprimanded by my parents for rejoicing that he was hurt. Nope. Game 3. I was there. LF Bleachers Section C Row 1 Seat 3. Willie McGee (!?!?!?) hit 2 dingers. Broke my heart.
  20. I'm still fully expecting a mirror image of last season and the Brewers will close out the year on a 20-5 run to finish at .500
  21. Well, I do believe that it would still be a no-hitter (assuming he finishes the game, of course) but I'd think the perfect game goes out the window. I could very well be wrong about that, though.
  22. heh, I have an Ommegang in the fridge right now, I believe!
