  1. hey, the Arizona stars sure were pretty under the soft orange glow of the fire from my firepit. And the cold Miller Lites and other assorted microbrews sure went down smooth. Luckily, the Brewer game became second fiddle fast for my brother and me while we sat outside "watching" the game on the ipad.
  2. I'm going to sit out by the fire pit tonight with some cold beers and the ipad and watch the game under the Arizona sky. Nice!
  3. Well, before Sunday's game I asked for 6 runs over the first 3 innings against the Dodgers and they accomplished that, so anything's possible.
  4. Of course, MANY little league kids have head sizes that are MUCH too small for even the smallest helmet that is made. So those kids have no choice but to look that way.
  5. I'll tell you what, that Curve ball on strike out number 13 was just filthy nasty. Even my wife started giggling and laughing at that knee-buckler.
  6. I'm sitting at Chili's and I read this. Disappointing but not a surprise as he seemed to be limping or something as he ran the bases when he scored from first on that double. Edit: stupid tablet. This was supposed to be a reply to the comment about Luc being out.
  7. We're due for an update on February 29th next year.
  8. Just read this on MLB Trade Rumors: "Nick Delmonico, who came to the Brewers in last year’s Francisco Rodriguez trade, was suspended 50-games for a positive drug test, tweets Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com." Fantastic.
  9. and then home vs. San Francisco and the Dodgers (or the Dodgers and THEN San Francisco--I'm not sure which.) So really, this is a big TWO weeks. [come on, somebody trump me and make it three weeks.]
  10. Pierzynski stunk it up with Boston this year. So, common sense sense says that would continue. But, nah, he'll hit .340 with 12 dingers.
  11. Now, it sure would be nice to see the team not do the ol' "rest on your laurels" routine and go into shutdown mode for the rest of the game. How about a nice 12-0 game here, fellas?
  12. yfinn6 is right on. The ump should not be seen or heard, for the most part. Just do your job.
  13. Yeah, we watched it. Very entertaining and well put together. Definitely a must watch for Brewers fans, even if you've heard many of the jokes many times. I did learn about his "card game" he created back with the Cardinals. THAT story I had NOT heard of before. After the show concluded, my wife and I both made an agreement that, when Bob passes on, whomever finds out about it first (if either of us even do, since we don't get on the internet that often at school) needs to not inform the other about it until we get home, lest we both break down and cry in front of students. Which would happen.
  14. I think it is funny how as I read the last few posts, the song "Why Can't We Be Friends?" by War pops up on my CD changer.
  15. Yes, we did. With a "Sunday Lineup" if I remember right (even though it was a weekday game.) Again, correct. Plus, A-Ram and Lucroy both lit him up in their 1 AB vs him in the All-Star game.
  16. Finally got to the finale tonight. It was an enjoyable season and I was glad to see it back on tv, if only for 12 episodes. The ending was left very open and I think bthurley19 is right on that a new season will be upon us. I was waiting this whole season for Tony to make an appearance, though. Great show! I'll miss it again!
  17. also on the Smith avenue, Roenicke probably did not have a clue that we would be playing so many close games. Yeah, we have only had 26 "one-run games" which isn't even close to the most in the league, but that's just how the games finish. There were so many tied games, 1-run games, and 2-run games that it made sense for Smith to enter the contest. He may be wiped out come September. And he might not be. I guess we'll find out. That's part of baseball. If Smith HADN'T been used so much, he would be healthier, sure, but we also could be sitting at .500 (or worse) because we didn't use him in those key situations and somebody else blew it. (or not--those hypothetical "other" relievers could have done the job as well; we'll never know.)
  18. Didn't the White Sox do something like this back in the 90s? "Yeah, we know we're in first place, but we have no chance in the playoffs so we might as well dismantle the team . . . " That's a plan for losers. I understand the desire to build up the farm system, but I'd rather be cheering for a competitive team every year (playoffs or not) than cheering for a 60-win team for 5 years in the HOPE that some of those prospects will pan out.
  19. I think just so he could get some work in before sitting for the next 5 days.
  20. you know, after thinking about this streak today, I'm beginning to think what will cost us the playoffs in 2014 will be the road trip to Arizona and Colorado. The team played phenominally and hit even better. We came off that road trip and continued to play "decently" but the hitting started showing signs of disappearing, especially Carlos Gomez, who began swinging as hard as he can every time up no matter the situation. (He seemed very frustrated that everybody else was driving the ball all over Coors Field [note: exaggeration] while he wasn't.) Ever since that trip, they have hit the hitting skids. It's too bad. Yeah, yeah, they've had some occasional breakouts in the hitting department but, as a whole, not so much. Just my 2 cents. Which isn't worth much anyways.
  21. that's pretty interesting! Thanks for sharing! I never knew that the GCL was a 3-team league!
  22. Nice monsoon storm rolling through Kingman now. Missed Overbay's bomb (did see Scooter's) and missed all the theatrics of the top of the 2nd, thanks to satellite going out due to heavy rain (Internet has been spotty too for some reason so hard to follow on game day) At least it is still early . . . .
  23. Kind of surprised that we didn't put Gennett in there for that at bat. It's not like we need to save his lefty bat for later in the game--with Overbay and Schaefer still available.
