  1. That's pretty neat but I'm unsure if MLB would go for without trying it in the minors on a pilot run. Plus, I doubt the umpire's association would sign off on it. It's best chance is an independent league taking a chance with it for a season, really.
  2. That homer by Carter just drilled a kid in the chest. He whiffed on the catch and took it flush. I hope Carter goes to say something to him or something.
  3. I remember listening to that fight on the radio. Uecker was classic--describing things in crystal clear detail, it's like I was watching it on tv.
  4. Is this Red Zone on sling the Directv's Red Zone Channel or is it the NFL Network's Red Zone Channel. They are not the same. (I think, at least. Maybe the NFL Network got rid of theirs.)
  5. Heh, I read the thread title while eating my lunch today and thought somebody had already lost patience and wanted to trade ORLANDO Arcia! Sorry about that! Carry on!
  6. Yeah, not an easy thing to do, either. Of course, it's an even greater accomplishment if you score in all nine frames.
  7. Scooter Gennett Billy Jo Robidoux
  8. I'll assume you are joshing us. You couldn't possibly have forgotten this one. http://www.impawards.com/2007/posters/balls_of_fury_ver4.jpg
  9. Apparently, it is the end of the road for one Mr. Prince Fielder. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/prince-fielder-likely-to-announce-retirement.html I guess I'm glad that we got his best years, but it's unfortunate that what has put him out to pasture is a neck ailment. We all probably thought it would be weight-related (unless the neck issue IS somehow related to his weight.)
  10. What would satisfy you (or anybody)? Should Luc take the month of November to personally come to Wisconsin for a "Thank You Wisconsin" party? Should he be given a list of every season ticket holder from 2010 until present so he can personally call them? Should he do a Winter Caravan around the state to thank everybody? The thing is, there will be no pleasing everybody so he did something that a whole lot of people would see. I'm guessing this wasn't some full-page ad stuff among the classifieds so it was clearly visible. This is better than him doing nothing. And really, "it's way overdone already?" So what?! edit: heh, I didn't see that some other people had beaten me to the punch!
  11. I've been wanting to get my dad some Special Export for Father's Day--he loved the stuff back in the day. But I can't find it in Arizona or Vegas. I've tried to get Total Wine and a few other places to order some but they wouldn't do it due to their suppliers.
  12. Personal attacks will not be tolerated here at brewerfan.net. Please knock it off. You may not have thought this wasn't an attack but it certainly wasn't a compliment.
  13. I haven't checked on the Genie receiver in the main living room (don't want to wake up the wife) but I was all set to program movies for the upcoming HBO/Cinemax free preview that begins on Friday on Directv and I can't program any of them. Usually, this is no problem. Bear in mind, I am a cheapskate. So I always load up the DVR on movies during the free previews, even though I don't subscribe to the premium channels. It's never been a problem. It will just put a pop up saying something like, "You do not subscribe to this channel. Do you want to record anyway?" and I'll click "yes" and all is good--the movie records during the scheduled time during the free preview. Now, though, it appears that they did a software update in late June and I am unable to do this. I'll get to the part where I click "record" and instead of the message from before, it just brings up, "You can not record this program as it requires a subsciption" and the only choices it gives you are "Subscribe info" and "no thanks." You can't even "Do you want to record anyway?" like before. I will try a manual record tomorrow and I'll check on the genie--my dvr in my man cave is an older model, but it has always worked in the past. But this is a major bummer if they've done away with this. Perhaps my only solace will be to start programming shows once the free preview "activates" on Friday. And even then I'm semi-afraid they'll do the 'ol "this program will expire in 3 days" type of message like when you download a program to your receiver. I know, first world problems . . . .
  14. Do NOT take the train to Tahiti. (If you get THIS reference, you are highly observant when you watch Brewer games.)
  15. So, I'm trying to decide on going to Windows 10 before the "free" period ends in July. I updated back in October, liked it, but rolled back to Windows 7 because a few programs didn't work. I decided to give it these 7 months for them to fix bugs and stuff. So my question is, for those of you that upgraded, what do you think now? I read that itunes still does not work with 10 (although that's a minor quibble, overall). What other issues are out there? So many articles that I find online are still from last year regarding reviews and problems so I'm looking for more up-to-date thoughts on the OS. Does anybody else have any thoughts, both for and against the upgrade? Thank you in advance!
  16. Funny how there have been a bunch of articles about Braun's good health in the last week and now he's been out a handful of days since. Nice double play by the Crew! Lucky, but nice.
  17. Probably because most people can not sit idle for more than 5 seconds without being engaged with their hand held devices, so my guess is that most people are on their phones. I must say, seeing the amount of people on their phones, and/or looking down at their phones while driving absolutely 100% disgusts me. People have become so selfish and self-absorbed that they no longer care about the safety of anyone around them. Cell phones are an addiction, possibly worse than any other addiction, mainly because everyone has one, and the majority of people I come into contact with can't separate themselves from them for more than a few minutes at a time... I am clearly in the minority, as I still have a flip phone from, like, 10 years ago. I have no plans of upgrading any time soon.
  18. Not as bad as running out of water, but the circuit breaker to my classroom keeps tripping. It's to the point that half the day I have no power. They "say" they're coming tomorrow to replace the breaker but, for crying out loud, this has been happening for almost 2 weeks and they're FINALLY going to get to it? You'd think that classrooms with power might be a slightly higher priority.
  19. I believe he has his own baseball card, position listed as "Des. Runner". Think Topps 1974. This card says pinch runner. Those uniforms were the bomb.
  20. I also noticed that about Weeks last night. Oh, and Jean Segura has changed his batting stance a bit.
  21. "Opening Day" by Terry Cashman (the guy who wrote the "Talkin' Baseball" song) VERSE Well, I count up the days in a winter haze Since the leaves began to fall. Now it won’t be long ‘til the sun comes shining through. When the camps start breakin,’ my spirits awaken To an irresistible call, Of an old American song that’s always new CHORUS And the robin is here, The sky is so blue. There’s a band, there’s music And the flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, It’s Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. VERSE Now will the champs repeat in the summer heat? Will the races go down to the wire? In April ev’ry team has a chance to wear the ring. And there’s a rookie phenom Who tore up the farm, And the fans never seem to get tired Of chasing the dreams that dance in the air ev’ry spring. CHORUS Yeah, the robin is here, And the sky is so blue. There’s a band, and there’s music, The flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, Yeah, it’s Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. BRIDGE So open the gates And let the people in. Let the games begin. And may the home team always win! CHORUS The robin is here, The sky, so blue. There’s a band, and there’s music, And the flags are flyin’, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, It’s Opening Day, Yes, it’s Opening Day, It’s Opening Day And we all can be kids once more.
  22. I found it very telling that the Badgers made it to the free throw line only 3 times the entire game (4-of-6) and were never in the bonus in either half. Hard to do in the contemporary game. Oh, and the Badgers were somehow replaced with the "slippery fingered" Badgers who turned the ball over 16 times. 16!!!!!
  23. The D-Backs are crazy. That stadium is still fine and in workable condition. If they want to keep it "state of the art" (which, in my opinion, is ludicrous since it's still pretty state-of-the-art) then they need to plunk down the money themselves. This won't get past the voters in Arizona. I'd make other comments but they would toe the edge of Arizona politics.
