  1. How about this to fix the blocking the plate rule. If the catcher makes a clean catch of the throw to the plate, the runner automatically returns to third base. If he bobbles it or whatever, the runner scores, assuming he touches the plate before subsequently being tagged out. We'll call it "catcher's hand!" It'll be a throwback to the days of sandlot baseball when you had to play with "pitcher's hand" when you only had 3 or 4 players per team. This would need some tweaking for all the situations (plays at the plate with the infield in and the bases loaded, for instance. Okay I'm only half-serious. Hey, hey what a catch by Cain!!!! And 7 shutout by Miley!
  2. It was cool seeing all the deals come through on my phone this afternoon. Too bad I was at school and couldn't just sit and watch this all come across in real-time.
  3. Here's bold (and virtually impossible): The Brewers trade the entire roster of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, split evenly between the Mets and Marlins, for Wheeler and Syndergaard, as well as Realmuto. The Marlins, being the Marlins, take their share of players that they receive and trade them to the Yankees for a bag of balls and a ton of money. Those same players all turn out to be all-stars for the Yankees, who win the World Series every year from 2022-2028, thanks to our former players. Hey, it'd STILL be worth it if the Brewers won their first title this season.
  4. Lol! I need to put something else besides that, so, I'll just say thank goodness I'm on west coast time so it won't be brutally late for me tonight!
  5. I'll have to ask, but did we win? After this past week, I half-expected the Brewers to lose this game. wink
  6. Well, I know that I needed a laugh this morning to cheer me up. How about they spice up the home run derby with this? https://deadspin.com/watch-this-weird-old-japanese-home-run-derby-featuring-1827638741
  7. If Machado does, in fact, go to LA, you NEED to post this prediction in the MLB forums because just like a 5-game sweep with a 3% chance of happening, something crazy like this just could not happen and we need to discuss it!
  8. A lot of talk of Aguilar winning this thing. So I am expecting a last place finish. Ugh. Funny what a long losing streak does even to my all-star excitement.
  9. Geez, man! These are the MILWAUKEE BREWERS! If there's anything I do know in this great big world after watching this team for 36 of my 45 trips around the sun, the 3% chance of being swept is more likely closer to 30%!
  10. Okay, I hope this comes out correctly. I saw this on MLB Network last night and didn't know if it was posted elsewhere on the site. It's a nice "all-access" video that the network put together. https://www.mlb.com/video/mlb-central-brewers-all-access/c-2234758083?tid=7417714
  11. However, and I may be wrong, some of those "records" are a bit skewed since the All-Star game fluctuates for when it is held. For instance, and I'm purely guessing here since it's after midnight and I've had a few drinks while sitting by the ol' firepit, the 1979 All-Star game MIGHT have been held earlier in July (I'll totally guess July 9th) and the team played fewer games prior to that all-star break. So a mark of 54 wins is mighty impressive compared to this year when it's not held until July 17th (which seems REALLY late.) edit: Well, shows you what I know. The 1979 All Star game in Seattle was on July 17th!
  12. It IS disappointing to see them on Facebook Watch . . . again. But, the alternative is them not being on tv at all, so . . . . (of course, that's what radio is for.) I'll guess Brewers 6 Royals 2
  13. YES! I wholeheartedly agree! My wife and I were discussing this earlier in the game. It's a 1-0 game with hardly any hits for either team and a ton of strikeouts, so not many balls put into play. It's the 6th inning. And the game was already 2 hour 15 minutes long. Seriously???? Please note: I was not bored at all by the game. The whole thing was enthralling. I just couldn't believe that 1-0 game (with one team being no-hit) was taking just as long as your typical 5-4 game in the 6th inning.
  14. Can I just say that I'm glad that they delayed the beginning of the voting this year to June 1st. Unless, I'm mis-remembering, I seem to recall days (maybe even last year) when they would already be voting for all-stars in early May. It always seemed to be ridiculous to be voting on all-stars with such a small sample of stats to use to make informed decisions. Of course, it's all a popularity contest anyways, so I guess the stats don't really matter.
  15. Levering barely got through the starting lineups without cracking up! SOMETHING (probably Uecker) was just making him laugh. SO MANY stifled laughs, extended silences, and muffled/cracking voices. I wish we could find out what was so funny.
  16. ugh, that is brutal. Sorry to hear about that.
  17. Will he clear waivers? ugh, if that happens . . .
  18. "Turn: Washington's Spies" (which was the name of the show starting with season 2 or 3) actually ended up being very good. My wife and I almost quit after season one because, yeah, it was slow-developing and didn't seem to be going anywhere. The rest of the seasons got pretty good and led to a (in my opinion) great climax and conclusion to the series. If anybody gave up on it, I recommend giving it another shot.
  19. I'm glad that I'm not the only person that has thought this.
  20. Meh, they were "all right" I'd MUCH prefer to hear Michael Kay and his witty nicknames and home run calls.
  21. About to go unplugged for the next 6 hours until I get home and watch the game off the DVR. Go Brewers!!!!!!! Have fun all of you folks at the game or watching LIVE from home!
  22. I'm going off the grid here in just a bit but I'm looking forward to watching the DVR'd game when I get home from work. Go Brewers! And, here is my annual post about Opening Day: The lyrics to the song "Opening Day" by Terry Cashman VERSE Well, I count up the days in a winter haze Since the leaves began to fall. Now it won’t be long ‘til the sun comes shining through. When the camps start breakin,’ my spirits awaken To an irresistible call, Of an old American song that’s always new CHORUS And the robin is here, The sky is so blue. There’s a band, there’s music And the flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, It’s Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. VERSE Now will the champs repeat in the summer heat? Will the races go down to the wire? In April ev’ry team has a chance to wear the ring. And there’s a rookie phenom Who tore up the farm, And the fans never seem to get tired Of chasing the dreams that dance in the air ev’ry spring. CHORUS Yeah, the robin is here, And the sky is so blue. There’s a band, and there’s music, The flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, Yeah, it’s Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. BRIDGE So open the gates And let the people in. Let the games begin. And may the home team always win!
