  1. Can’t tell you how pumped I am about this. totally expecting a flop, but hoping for something quotable and funnier the more you watch it.
  2. I've actually wondered if someone is going to end up taking the fall pretty soon for this month's atocious hitting. It won't be Murphy and it won't be Weeks. But one of our three hitting coaches could be considered to be given the axe (or a re-assignment) to try to give the team a kick that it desperately needs. Not saying it's going to happen, but it seems to be "the thing" that MLB teams do after prolonged hitting slumps.
  3. I can't say that I have, honestly. It's been 31-years since I graduated from college, though. But I really don't remember ever having a dream similar to this. Not saying you're wrong that "we've all had this dream." I'm sure the documentation is pretty accurate. But there are always outliers.
  4. Tonight, we WERE in the front row! (just a few sections down the line, though)
  5. I was at that game, too. from our seats down the RF line, it looked like our two-pitch pitcher couldn’t locate one of them and the DBacks were just sitting on the other. didnt help that we had to listen to these two loudmouths behind us the whole game. At least security told them to tone down the profanity after an inning. But, ugh, what a terrible loss. But it’s just one of many. Gotta hope that it doesn’t roll them into a losing skid. Oh, and Chourio’s home run was a bomb! Wow!
  6. Must be in the front row!!! (Well, almost…)
  7. Hammytime and I will be there for Friday and Saturday's games. We'll drive home on Sunday. Yeah, parking sucks. I recommend you find a lot somewhere and take the tram in to the downtown area. Or if your hotel is close-ish to a tram stop, even better. That what we're doing. Food is hit and miss, in my experience. Outside the park, there are plenty of good restaurants but might be pricey. Inside the park . . . . ugh. Never been much of a fan of their food, overall. Cactus League Nachos are good, but not sure if they sell them anymore (it was a specialty cart) as are the Hungry Hill sausages (better than the stuff from the generic concession stands, IMO.)
  8. Were the Yankees using these in spring training games and, if so, where was the outcry then? Or did they just use them privately in camp and just now broke them out to the public?
  9. I’ll go with 17-14. Heck, might even be a rain out in there, so perhaps 16-14??
  10. Today I filled in for an owner in an auction league who was traveling back from Hawaii. Holy cow, it kind of takes the fun out of things when half the league is taking the stars & scrubs approach! Every player in the first two hours was way overpriced. the guy I filled in for asked if I want to go halfsies with him for the season. I’m contemplating it but, if I do, ill be more prepared for next season and adjust accordingly, knowing ahead of time that I won’t be getting any of the big guns unless I want to do stars and scrubs, too.
  11. Well, that was an ugly half. gonna have to hit some shots or it’s “goodnight, Irene”
  12. I think 87 is a pretty good guess, so that will be my official guess. I do believe there is potential for 91, though. And, worst case, I think we'd be at 79 wins.
  13. Looks interesting. Is this free? Is it just for bragging rights?
  14. I was going off what Jeff said on the air yesterday and this tweet from earlier. maybe they had some technical issues and scrapped it. Or it was always planned as a reds feed and someone was misinformed. like I said, not the end of the world. Just disappointing.
  15. Nice job, DIRECTV And MLB.tv on my Roku super excited all day to watch a game finally and it’s the Reds broadcast only. Even 669 on DIRECTV (the Wisconsin channel) has the Reds feed. Grrr. on my phone, I can at least get brewers radio. oh well. Still, a bit disappointed
  16. Surprised that there was no Oscars thread this year. Not that I have seen many of the nominated films (I haven’t; only a few). I will admit that it’s difficult listening to Nick Offerman as the announcer and impatiently waiting for some sort of Ron Swanson-type of commentary.
  17. my first thought was Carlos Gomez before he bulked up a bit.
  18. Just call it Duncan (I was originally gonna say Whamm-o but they never made yo-yos)
  19. I don’t understand. OP writes a several paragraph post about the whole injuries in practice and then, when someone calls him out about it being typical throughout all of baseball, the OP brings out the “I guess you guys don’t have any sense of humor” token? i may not be the prototypical poster here on the site, so maybe this is just me. But usually when I would want to post a funny take on things, I wouldn’t use six lengthy paragraphs to tell said joke.
  20. There is Brewers baseball today!!!! The days are getting better!
  21. I'm actually waiting for a defensive player to just say, "Screw it" and just level a quarterback who is clearly now a RUNNER. Especially when many quarterbacks now do a semi-fake dive and run past the defender who pulled up and gains an extra 5-10 yards (or way more, in some cases).
  22. It’s been in the teens here iN NW Arizona the last few mornings. Everybody else is saying how freezing it is. It’s been chilly. But that’s about it. Winter coat? Yep. Zipped up? Nah. i do understand, though. You spend enough time in a climate and your body adapts. So people here think 40° is cold. I think it’s great. I guess I have too many memories of being in that -40° wind chill crap that these Arizona “winters” still are mild as heck. (similarly, summers are blisteringly hot, but it’s so dry that it’s really not all that bad to me. The humidity kills me so I’m glad we only get that during monsoon season.) EDIT: Have to share . . . we are under a winter weather advisory for Sunday/Monday. The school district is already mulling over cancelling school. Seriously. We'll probably get an inch if we're lucky. It definitely will not be another Snowmageddon (we got 13" in one 12-hour period back in 2019! It was amazing!)
  23. There was this tiny part of me that thought, "well, maybe Ueck didn't tell him about the cancer! And now Robin is upset that he wasn't in the inner circle for that information." And then I said, "yeah, right . . . "
  24. I also find it strange that I haven't seen any comment from Robin Yount on Uecker's passing. Did I just miss it?
