  1. will we also be trading a pallet or two of Aoki bobbleheads for the 2014 season since we have no need for them anymore? Overall, I'm kind of torn with the trade. I like Aoki and think he's a strong bench player and outfielder to fill in if/when Khris Davis hits .180 thru May 15th. But Smith also has some decent upside, too. The Royals must have liked him because he always seemed to be the first guy called up every time they needed an arm this season (doing my 2k13 franchise, he was on the transaction list practically every other week.) Sayonara, Norichica! I shall miss you!
  2. They both moved their fences in. For Seattle, it significantly improved their home run output at home. I don't have the numbers but it was a fairly dramatic improvement.
  3. Hughes seems to have had some New York-itis so he might be just fine in Minneapolis. He's always had the talent it seems.
  4. I like the idea (well, all of your ideas, actually) but the problem is the cost to produce it. So many zombies would make the show go practically bankrupt what with all the costs for makeup, costumes, prosthetics, the actors themselves, etc. I distinctly remember that was why there were so "few" zombies in season two. Now, of course, the show is even more popular than it was back then, so maybe money isn't as big of an issue anymore. I don't know.
  5. I also find it interesting that Fielder waived his no-trade clause to TEX. Probably to get away from the wife, but who knows.
  6. I'm guessing this was a DET was "tired" of Prince (not really, but you know what I mean) in exchange for TEX getting a full-time position for Jurickson Profar instead of being a super-sub (which he wasn't very good at.) I'm not shocked by this at all.
  7. heh, I had the game on my computer using the slingbox for a good portion of the first half. I never even noticed it was Provus.
  8. yeah, sometimes I don't mind the "soap opera" effect but my wife despises it. It's something you definitely have to get use to.
  9. you need to turn the tru-motion (or whatever your brand of tv calls it) off. Basically, you're watching your shows in 120hz (or maybe 240hz) when they should be in 60 hz. Thus, the shows you watch have the "soap opera" effect.
  10. My recollection could be off but I'm pretty sure plenty of teams have come back from down 3-2 in the World Series. I think the comment you heard was regarding coming back from a 3-2 deficit to win games 6 & 7 on the road in the World Series. The last time that happened was 1979 with the Pirates beating the Orioles in Baltimore the final 2 games.
  11. The Gospel reading for today is from the 2nd book of Rawlings, chapter 27, beginning with the 5th verse: "And thus sayeth Carlos, Thou shalt not hit home runs over me. For I shall smite those orbs into the basket now made of gold." Here endeth the lesson.
  12. I have zero confidence that Gomez will win. WAR will have little say in the matter. The managers vote on this award and they'll likely go with Cutch. If Gomez somehow does pull it off, I'll be pleasantly surprised. As an aside, I am glad that MLB decided to start giving Gold Gloves for each specific outfield position (LF, CF, RF) rather than 3 generic OF winners (which almost always was 3 center fielders winning.)
  13. The Dino Laurenzi one would be great. I can see it now--the statue is standing holding a cooler that is cracked open with one arm, while is other arm is reaching for a locked FedEx door, which, naturally, is the part that bobbles.
  14. Nice to see the Tigers are "playing well" in the 9th. I wonder if I will have jinxed them. Oh, and stupid Dodgers!
  15. I wonder if they are doing it to promote the post season gear. Probably beIng paid to wear it, above what they are paid anyways.
  16. Looked like the brewers there--running into an out to end an inning. Turrible!
  17. Verlander pitching "really good" thus far. edit: the bad grammar was intentional.
  18. It's one thing to make it a team "ideal" and "mantra" for the upcoming season. It's a complete different thing when you make it public knowledge. I understand the "need" to throw inside every now and then to keep hitters off-balance and honest. But if you're just going to drill hitters because your feelings are hurt in a blowout loss, then that's just plain infantile. I am a Diamondbacks fan as well as a Brewer fan but this could make me lose interest in watching the D-Backs any more than I have to.
  19. Think he'd come back to the Brewers in some capacity in the future? Not next year, obviously, unless something happens over the off-season, but maybe in a couple of years?
  20. Just to be contrarian, YAY!
  21. that really aggravates me, also. If I'm playing blackjack, let me play the way I want to. If somebody else is hitting on "no-hit" situations, let them do it. It's the only way they will learn how to play the game. But don't get mad about it. Sit out a few hands or move to a different table. Advise them. Be friendly about it. If you're going to get mad while sitting at the $5 tables, then maybe blackjack isn't your game. Move to the high roller section. The people at the $5 tables are primarily there for fun, not to make money.
  22. Good gravy! Is it really Wednesday already???? Oh, and, GO BREWERS!!!!! Let's finish the season with a 8-game win streak! Or not! So the people who want a good draft pick will be happy! Either way is fine with me!!!!
  23. Boo hoo!!! Only one more week of Brewer baseball. Yes, I'm serious. This is a bummer, no matter how bad the season may have been.
  24. Yup, I heard it, although rock was kind of chuckling when he said it.
