  1. Pedro Alvarez would be great if he had any value to rebuild.....but he really doesn't have much to begin with. I think we are all getting swept into the Doug Melvin era of thinking, getting used to his transactions for over a decade can do that to you. Everyone was freaking out that they were going to sign a veteran CF and instead they get an under the radar guy that probably won't block Maverick but still will hold value as a 4th OF, love the Jarrod Dyson comparison. I really am curious to what we do at 1B because unlike CF there is big gaping hole in the entire system now (one could argue there already was one post Lind trade), just like there was 2 years ago. We keep speculating that an OFer should move to 1B at the MLB level but it seems unlikely. I hope somebody at least moves to 1B in the system like Coulter or something, could fast track him.
  2. OF is so crowded up and down the org. I really wonder where Santana will be to start the year. I hope they move dead arm Davis.
  3. 1. SS-Orlando Arcia 2. OF-Brett Phillips 3. OF-Trent Clark 4. SP-Jorge Lopez 5. SP-Josh Hader 6. SP-Kodi Medeiros 7. SS-Gilbert Lara 8. SP-Zach Davies 9. OF-Monte Harrison 10. OF-Tyrone Taylor 11. SP-Devin Williams 12. SS-Jake Gatewood 13. OF-Clint Coulter 14. OF-Demi Orimoloye 15. OF-Michael Reed 16. SP-Tyler Wagner 17. SP-Cody Ponce 18. SP-Marcos Diplan 19. SP-Taylor Williams 20. SP-Nathan Kirby 21. OF-Victor Roache 22. SP-Wei-Chung Wang 23. C-Carlos Leal 24. SP-Tyler Cravy 25. SP-Cy Sneed
  4. Only way we should sign a Starting Pitcher if its a one year deal and said pitcher is trying to reestablish their value and we can trade him for prospects.
  5. Not to stay off topic but trading Lind in the offseason should be a priority the first base free agent market is a joke and that back is a ticking time bomb.
  6. I agree a 100% with you my friend, I am a Thompson disciple myself. Just noting that the Cubs strategy of taking strictly bats with their first round picks since Theo and Jed took over probably won't cut it for us because the only way we were are going to get bona fide ace prospects is with either drafting them with our 1st pick or apply a really great draft strategy to acquiring and developing pitching ala the Mets and the Rays of a couple years ago.
  7. Anyone know if Montgomery is being retained as scouting director? I think it is important to keep him around. I always thought by pure speculation he came here because he was going to be the GM after Melvin, I feel the way things went this season that an internal hire just could not happen whether that is fair or not I don't know. Building through the draft cannot be our only resource going forward. The moves the Cubs made to get Rizzo, Arrieta, and Russell/Mckinney were great acquisitions to get that organization jump started, Phillips/Santana/Hader is a good start. Only thing is we can't fall back on buying pitching like the Cubs could and will probably do. Which worries me as taking pitchers in the top 5 seems like a high risk but the organization needs an Ace prospect desperately. Next June can't come soon enough.
  8. First of all I would preface to say that this is the most minor league talent I have seen in the Brewers org. for awhile. Gone are the days of Caleb Gindl being a top 10 prospect who I think would fall in the low teens on this list. Seems like every time we do an updated list the list gets better and better. I do however question our method of rookie status because of the quote below from MLB's website. Wouldn't this exclude Wang and Knebel since they have been on MLB rosters for the allotted time? I don't think we should change it for this ranking but maybe the next one if I am interpreting this right. "To be eligible for a list, a player must have rookie eligibility. To qualify for rookie status, a player must not have exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues, or accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the 25-player limit period, excluding time on the disabled list or in military service." 1. SS-Orlando Arcia-Our best prospect since Braun/Fielder/Weeks/Gallardo days. Four years ago I was reading about a 16 year old tearing up the Dominican league glad to see him having success. Really would have to wonder if he didn't get hurt in 2012 where the kid would be today. 2. SP-Kodi Medeiros-Love the peripherals and that he held his own to stay in Wisconsin so far. Keep it up Kodi. 3. OF-Trent Clark-I might be really bullish on Trent since he has barely played any games but I think he is pretty safe pick even if he is 18 to be a true #2 hitter on the Brewers some day. 4. SP-Taylor Jungmann-Not going to lie have had Jungmann barely in my top 10 but since coming to the show he has deserved this ranking for the time being. 5. SP-Jorge Lopez-What he has done at Biloxi lately should make us all happy. He deserves preseason top 100 status if he keeps it up 6. SS-Gilbert Lara-Even if it is AZL, success is better than struggling especially when you are 17 stateside. 7. RP-Corey Knebel-Hopefully battling with Will Smith for the closer role next spring. 8. SP-Devin Williams-Like him more than most, I still think he can be in the upper half of a rotation 9. OF-Clint Coulter-Splits scare me but I think the 30 HR potential will come back next year after he leaves the abyss of the FSL 10. SP-Nathan Kirby-All I had to see was that slider vs. Vanderbilt to love the guy. 11. SP-Cody Ponce 12. OF-Tyrone Taylor-Biggest faller on my list, hope he can heat up in the second half 13. SS-Jake Gatewood 14. OF-Monte Harrison 15. SP-Taylor Williams 16. OF-Victor Roache 17. OF-Demi Orimoloye 18. OF-Michael Reed-Underrated but I really wonder how he can fit in the long term plans of the organization 19. SP-Wei-Chung Wang 20. SP-Tyler Wagner 21. C-Carlos Leal-When I made my list thought I would be the only one who had him in their top 25. Boy was I wrong. 22. SP-Marcos Diplan 23. SP-Jorge Ortega 24. SP-Tyler Cravy 25. 2B-Chris Mcfarland 26. 1B-Tyrone Perry
  9. I thought KRod has an option for the 2017 season for $6.0 Million and the $5.5 Million was owed next year. Either way get the best prospect possible...but I think that hurts his trade value a little bit being on the hook for over 10.0 Million over 2.5 years
  10. I thought Mat Gamel was going to be a great and he was going to give us much needed left handed pop at 3b.
  11. Offense needs to start producing have been pathetic this whole month and the reason our lead has evaporated. I am sick of seeing double digit strike outs a regular occurrence in box scores.
  12. Also my thinking is why bring up Nelson to the bigs if you really were planning on trade him. I would have just let him dominate AAA hitters and not reveal if he could get MLB hitters out or not.
  13. A Major League Umpire shouldn't flinch like that, any other Rays batter that is strike 3. Coming from an umpire that has had his fair share of flinches.
  14. How is Coulter 9th? I understand how he doesn't have a position. But he is 2nd in the Midwest League in home runs and 2nd in OPS at the ripe age of 20. Come on now he should at least be top 5 in our own organization.
  15. Not saying Herrera is some great option but he would be the one to play CF in your scenario not Braun. And just by glancing at Carp's defensive numbers he really struggled in 2011 out in LF but since then has at least gotten better. Still below average. But your right is he really an upgrade over Overbay? I don't think it hurts to find out if you don't have to give up anything of significance. You can ride the hotter stick into the playoffs and nothing better than a little bit of competition at a position of weakness. Schafer adds no offensive value and with the versatility of Herrera again hes not a world beater by any means, but it really helps he is a utility player. Why not take a flyer on Carp?
  16. I don't remember Jeffress making his pitching look so effortless. Really excited for him for his on the field play and more importantly his off the field lifestyle.
  17. He would also be great to give Khris Davis nights off against tough right handers
  18. I have been waiting for A left-handed power threat since Fielder left. I like Gordon, the versatility would be great as you could move him or Braun to 1B. Having said that I bet Melvin adds one via FA like LaRoche if his option is declined. Not saying I agree with it but that is what I envision happening.
  19. My question to everybody is where the hell are you going to put Lara???? Not a big fan of giving guys a high ranking without even an MILB at bat.
  20. Couldn't agree more. No excuse that Duda should not have been facing a lefty. I don't care who it was. Gorzelanny or Duke. A split of... RHP .282/.383/.548 OPS of .931 with 15 HR LHP .161/.254/.232 OPS of .486 with 1 HR. Anyone after Duda in that lineup can't hurt you with the long ball. I just don't get it, drives me crazy.
  21. I just like how the team is really innovative with shifts but is stuck in the closer gets the ninth no matter what syndrome. Should have left in Smith for the ninth or brought in Duke to face Duda who is hitting a whopping .161/.254/.232 vs. lefties. I don't know maybe I just overthink things
  22. Hate how managers are in set ways. Smith should have started the inning vs. Murphy.
  23. Not to be that guy but its still 58 because of the Pirates
