  1. Honestly been scouring teams that look to be clearly out of it and I just don't see a clear cut upgrade out there. If the front office didn't keep Juan Francisco over Lyle Overbay or sign Kendrys Morales I don't see how they give up anything of value for Adam Dunn. As it seems they are obsessed with the glove at 1B. Too me this just shows how good this team is because 1B is really the only clear cut regular playing time weakness besides the bench. Bullpen should be fine when Thornburg and Henderson come back and the rotation is pretty solid besides Marco but we probably have an internal upgrade anyway in Nelson or Fiers. A good target would be Ben Zobrist who can pretty much play anywhere when needed. Problem is not having a great year and will probably be highly coveted because of his versatility. 10 team playoff sure throws off the economics of the trade deadline less supply and more demand.
  2. Didn't think I would ever see a Coors Field sweep in my lifetime and we needed the Rockies to go full blooper reel to get it done.
  3. I just don't believe Braun is healthy....just seems like he can't pull anything right now. Also find it funny that people think he is 100% healthy and its because he isn't juicing. Please do explain 2012 to me then? He was on the most wanted list for sure and would have been a fool to still be using. Just my outside 2 cents perspective.
  4. It is funny looking at the whole top 30 the Yankees are the favorite for like half of the prospects listed mine as well spend it somewhere Yanks...
  5. Take it for what it is worth but Max Wildstein lead writer for Calltothepen tweets that Lara has agreed with Brewers for 3.2 Million. Later tweets won't obviously be official till July 2nd. https://twitter.com/MaxWildstein/status/480078212614336512
  6. Just by looking at that link DoubleSwitch, we should make a play for Mike Jacobs. Hes completely blocked by Goldschmidt. And would be a very cheap option. Anything is better than Overbay at this point.
  7. Ditto and its not like you are using a year of service time on Nelson with this year if you bring him up. IMO it is time to see what Nelson's got he has a chance to be a long term solution in the rotation and who knows if he proves himself you may have more flexibility with Gallardo in the offseason whether by trade or not picking up that option, if Nelson proves himself worthy. What is the risk in giving him a rotation spot if he may be one of your best 5 starters? None at this point especially if Marco keeps giving up the long ball and is struggling with command.
  8. Harrison is the only one I think we will have a major issue with. Gatewood has pretty much said all the right things about getting into the organization as fast as possible granted pen to paper changes everything.
  9. After a little research I did find it was USF but here is where my confusion started as Mccalvy says the U. https://twitter.com/alecdopp/status/459870561876066304
  10. I don't fault them for passing on Jose Fernandez, McCalvy said it was Marlins or University of Miami for Fernandez the kid wanted to control his own fate. Can't fault a team for passing on a guy for signability issues especially coming off a year where Covey did not sign.
  11. Good call definitely should do one right after the deadline. Also would agree that going past 25 might be too big.
  12. I feel like we should do one at the end of July, that way short season has had a decent sample size and we can add a couple of our draft picks hopefully! And then obviously do one after the season is over. Just my 2 cents. I think 20 is a good number but I would still do one if you guys wanted to expand it.
  13. Actually Lucroy is a 3rd round pick but comparing draft position to why you shouldn't take a player seems kind of shortsighted to me. Paul Goldschmidt was an 8th round pick should we not pick a similar prospect because Goldschmidt was an 8th round pick, no.
  14. Will Smith definitely deserves a spot but by being a non-closer and not a famous setup guy, I bet he doesn't make it.
  15. Mostly for me it was his struggles earlier in his career and thinking it was the Cardinal Dave Duncan fluke like Suppan. But once I got a chance to look at his peripherals for 11 and 12, a lot of posters here swayed me in the opinion of liking the signing minus giving up the draft pick. I realized he was a lot better signing than Suppan and Wolf. I still didn't like giving up the first round pick because I didn't feel we were a contending team and our farm system was and still is lacking elite impact talent.
  16. When we signed Lohse I thought it was same old signings like Wolf and Suppan and we had to give up a 1st rounder to boot. But I was dead wrong. Guy is efficient as they come and I am one to not agree with short term moves in the offseason. He will be our game 1 starter if we make the playoffs and its not by default either he will have earned it if he keeps it up.
  17. If you go over to the draft thread that is where the discussion is taking place on him. Gilbert Lara is the one you are thinking of.
  18. I'm kind of hoping for a high upside high school arm like Toussaint or Reid-Foley. I know our success with high school arms like these guys is basically zip, nada, zilch, but mine as well keep trying ha. This is all of course if Newcomb or Freeland aren't available. But I could very well see Holmes being the pick because of his Gallardo, Covey, and Nelson type stature.
  19. Oakland Atheltics #25 OF-Marcus Wilson Junipero Serra, CA A's have done away with low upside college players the last couple years and have made a switch to high upside high schoolers. Wilson fits this profile perfectly. Wilson a toolsy outfielder is just what the A's want in the system.
  20. Overbay has been putrid have to call up Morris at some point. Unless the plan is to sign Morales the minute after the Brewers 1st day of draft selections.
  21. That is exactly why it inflates his WAR tremendously. 1.6 in 43 games in 2011 2.3 in 125 games in 2012 I don't watch him regularly so I don't have a clue how good his glove is.
  22. Gallardo is probably the main reason we beat Arizona and got to the NLCS so don't know how you say he didn't show up.
  23. 1. Tyrone Taylor 2. Jimmy Nelson 3. Clint Coulter 4. Orlando Arcia 5. Mitch Haniger 6. Devin Williams 7. Taylor Jungmann 8. Michael Reed 9. Nick Delmonico 10. Jed Bradley 11. Chris McFarland 12. David Denson 13. Jorge Lopez 14. Victor Roache 15. Ariel Pena 16. Tyler Cravy 17. David Goforth 18. Tyler Wagner 19. Brent Suter 20. Adam Weisenburger
  24. Selection #8 - Colorado Rockies Kyle Freeland, LHP, Evansville A very safe pick, but a safe pick that is trending upward with his dominance this season. Besides Jonathan Gray and Eddie Butler the lack of impact arms in the systems is why I think Freeland is a good fit.
  25. You know after the draft Attanasio will make a push for Morales, with his open communication line with Boras.
