  1. I had us pegged at 74 wins preseason...I thought the pitching would be right where it was (average). But we did not get there on how I thought we would. I thought Nelson would take a step forward and instead we had Guerra coming out of absolutely nowhere. We all know bullpens can be fluky year to year so I wonder if there will be any regression next year.
  2. I don't see how he brings back more value when corner outfielders are a dime a dozen on the trade market usually at deadlines...especially guys with his mediocre skill set.
  3. Santana showed enough after his August call up last year to get a chance to play everyday, too bad he got hurt and their is lackadaisical play questions. Something that has been discounted and a byproduct of trading Davis was moving Braun to left field where he is rated as a great defender compared to being a below average defender in right. Nottingham is having a rough year but being 21 in AA, it is pretty understandable after not even getting a full season at either A or A+ ball. If this is the worst trade David Stearns makes, I think we got a good one guys.
  4. From what we can piece together, you have to think it's a pitcher if in fact Kenny boy thinks it's a significant prospect. I keep reading that if it was someone high on the list then why wouldn't he be named, well what's the point of naming the player right now if you don't have to with a month of the minor league season left when elbows can be blown up in one pitch. If in fact during the deal they really did run out of time before settling on the third player. We shall see on a local radio station Assistant GM Matt Arnold said (paraphrasing), "the third piece would be one fans would like." I don't know if he is pointing directly at these subjective lists that fans look at or it is purely GM speak and he would say the same about acquiring a Joe Winkelsas type. Time will tell, seems like the PTBN was under some unique circumstances though.
  5. Couple things I wanted to mention on the Shuckers game last night. Lopez Overall was pretty good, when he missed in the first two innings he missed the zone pretty bad which is why he walked two batters. He gave up 4 earned runs but it really doesn't paint the whole picture. One earned run came because Tyrone Taylor misjudged a fly ball bad. He came in first and then back tracked but it was way too late and that lead to a triple. That runner scored on a wild pitch that really would have been tough for a lot of catchers to make in my opinion. Having said that another runner scored on a wild pitch later in the game that Nottingham definitely should have had. Jorge really only gave up two hard hits. One was an absolute no doubter and the other was a single. I just wanted to give everybody an accurate picture since you read a box score and think 7 hits 4 er....oh that's not good. Phillips Two seeing eye singles to the right of second base, for some reason second basemen played in the hole on the right side and the left side was still occupied by the short stop and third baseman. I know I sound like I am being nit picky but at this point we will take anything the Shuckers hitters do. Taylor Wall scraping home run, in the same at bat barely pulled one foul by about 10 feet left of the foul pole. Good to see. Nottingham He was pretty lost yesterday. He liked to swing out of his shoes multiple times, hopefully can get it together in August. You can tell hes frustrated. At least he gets practice with balls in the dirt because of Jorge's nasty curveball, because he needs it.
  6. Love the success, but anybody else worried about if they raise the strike zone? Kid consistently pounds the bottom of the zone.
  7. I agree with all of this, Flores has had his chance and shown absolutely nothing. As for Arcia crazy to think the kid lost a whole season and still getting to the show at the age of 21. I hope he can develop the bat a little bit more, but nonetheless ecstatic to see his glove and see if the hype passes the eye test.
  8. Can a ptbnl be someone on a 40 man roster? Because I think we can stop the Mendez pipe dream if it can't be.

  10. Great point Brew4U fingers crossed
  11. Frazier and Sheffield my goodness.... Just blows anything we get out of the water unless it's Mckenzie or to a lesser extent Hillman
  12. @Buster_ESPN Yankees expected to get Indians prospects Frazier and Sheffield and others in the trade for Andrew Miller. Welp there goes the Sheffield speculation....
  13. So I am going to assume this 4th piece is either non-existent or the equivalent of Shea Vuchinich. Peace out
  14. I think I am with you as well unless this mysterious 4th piece is Mckenzie or Sheffield
  15. I love it...people don't see Mejia on the updated top 100 and for them that is us selling low because of some list. But the Brewers front office has Mejia in the same class or a tier below Frazier and Zimmer. So sick of these lists being taken as gospel.
  16. Great point...that rumored deal was disturbing
  17. Seriously, we are the ones with the MLB sure fire asset here, hang on to him if that is the best offer. That is a package I would expect in the offseason in the middle of February right before pitchers and catchers report.
  18. I don't get how you can say he is a two pitch pitcher when he can throw his slider for a strike in any count right now. Going forward no clue what to expect from him, there is no past history of a similar story to Guerra. I don't even know how teams can define his value right now.
  19. @Evan_P_Grant Relatively certain Rangers are not actively pursuing Norris. My sense: Padres trying to drum up a more vigorous market. Because Norris isn't much of an upgrade from Chririnos/Wilson. Now if they are trading for a lesser upgrade compared to our asset for less then sure that would make a lot of sense. But I don't know if one exists atm
  20. ‏@Ken_Rosenthal If #Rangers add catcher, it probably won’t be #Brewers’ Lucroy. But, per sources, it could be #Padres’ Norris. Have spoken to both clubs. ‏ Not surprised feel like Brewers demands have stayed the same since February and Texas has never budged. Have fun adding Norris though what a marginal upgrade.
  21. @Buster_ESPN Multiple teams waiting to hear back from the Brewers on Lucroy proposals. Would love to be in the war room right now
