  1. My guess is that at League Avg. what is that 3.5 mil? a team would pay that much of Weeks salary and the Brewers would have to cover the rest. 3.5 mil is just about the right amount for a RP would work for me. But you're right, Weeks is a franchise player...at least that is how the team has treated him with the contract he has and they appear in it for the long haul...much like Aramis' contract. He's a face to the fans, only he's ruined it with the past 2 years of performance. Either way, I've been hoping a team with deep pockets like the Dodgers and no 2b prior to the earlier move better than Weeks would take a flier on him to be useful for 1year maybe 2. Oh well. How many ABs/Starts can Weeks get as a Righty vs. Lefty in a season really? He'll still have to start vs. Righties or there just isn't enough ABs to justify keeping him on the roster. I'd waive him and let some other team maybe take on his money owed at somepoint during the season. Of course we have to get through ST and all but come Opening Day, If Gennett is healthy/ready, It'd be a shame to waste roster space on Weeks.
  2. Dodgers are all set at 2B with the recent Cuban signing... whoa, missed that. Really going to just insert him in to the everyday starting lineup start of opening day? Considering they were supposed to be in on Cano and then do this? Can anyone else pay Cano's asking price after LAD or the Yankees? Bad news for Cano. Also bad news for Milw as one of a very few that may have taken a chance with Weeks at 2b is gone.
  3. Jimenez had a pretty darn good year last year. He had a 3.30 ERA on the year which is pretty good considering he had a 7.13 ERA in April and March. I don't think he'll get 14M a year but he should get at least 36/3. Plus he won't turn 30 until January. Wow, I didn't follow him much past mid season. Talk about hella good timing to find your pitching groove in the final 10 starts before hitting FA....Not bad to face Min&ChW twice and Houston for half those starts. Yep he has the numbers to look QO worthy for last season, but his recent seasons I just can't see a team committing to losing their draft pick for him as well as that QO pretty much means 13mil or more per season to sign him with losing the pick. If Jimenez is QO worthy after being a 4.5ERA pitcher his first 20 starts then Gallardo is as well and definitely not a #5 in owners eyes like stated mid season.... Sounds like Milwaukee's guy right?
  4. Detroit has Castellanos/Jackson/Hunter for an OF next season to me I don't see why Detroit would add Aoki? Now, if Aoki was under control for 2015 then it makes sense since he'd be a 4th OF and maybe the starting OF in 2015 when Hunter's contract ends. So my idea is working a deal with Kansas City sending Aoki and maybe Weeks for Billy Butler to play 1b. We need a 1b bat like Butler's and KC needs that OF and 2b. Brewers probably have to throw in a BP guy to complete the deal but in the trade idea of Both teams get help where they need it world that trade would fit it.
  5. I would too. Simmons is a virtual automatic 3.8WAR based on his defense alone. Anything offensive he puts on top of that is icing. About the safest bet at SS you can find. I've also read some accounts that say he could be BETTER than Ozzie Smith as he has a stronger arm. Time will tell. I'd take that over a guy who's probably going to be moved to 2B and may lose a step or two; really knocking his value. The Simmons vs Segura debate/trade idea is off subject and rather unlikely to happen when Atl/Milw have franchise SSs? Why would either team discuss swapping them? Taking it back to Miller for Segura: I look at it as who helps the most in your ultimate goal, winning the WS. Regular Season, Segura/Miller I believe equal out with maybe even Segura edging out ahead in value due to playing every day. But, come Playoff time, when there are multiple off days giving #1s/#2s more Starts than the 4s and none of the 5s have to play Miller's value takes over big time. Wacha's performances vs. Kershaw helped StL make it to the WS but you can't tell me Lohse or Gallardo are capable of performing heads up to Kershaw and lead Milwaukee to Playoff victory over the Dodgers. Playoff contenders need the go to Pitching, they make the difference more often than not. Miller would be that kind of guy your go to Pitcher to take you to your ultimate goal the WS. Now the original post stated Lance Lynn or Miller and Lynn is nowhere near Miller talent and barring trading away .70 cents worth of value on the $1 worth of Lynn, I want nothing to do with Lynn. He doesn't fit the WS push SP profile we need. If you want to go Simmons/Segura/or Miller for me it's still Miller. Miller will be a top 20SP maybe by next season but certainly within 3years. You take the chance that maybe it happens next season with Milwaukee's roster makeup and push to win. I just wonder if StL would take Segura for Miller heads up? If not, what more does Milw have to offer for him?
  6. Let's see, Dodgers don't pick up Ellis's option and lose Herrera now. 2b trouble that I wonder if...if the Dodgers truly don't make the epic mistake of signing Cano to his 10/300 contract want, does the need at 2b lead to LA calling about Weeks? Could we have handcuffed this team to need a 2b in their pricerange with an option like Weeks who may provide something offensively? That's my take on this move. And if it comes true Herrera likely becomes a fillin for Gennett/Segura when need be.
  7. I'd pause on it but yes I'd take Miller for Segura. Miller has Ace Potential...I mean LEGIT ACE potential, and Gallardo's Ace Potential wasn't on par with Miller's. I'd throw Segura for Miller and try and trade Gallardo(ArZ and Owings?) or Lohse then for a SS. The way I look at it is that Miller living up to "His Full Potential" is going to be worth more from Replacement than Segura living up to "His full Potential" versus a Replacement SS. I hope this is recalled that of StL. SPs and their Prospect Rankings, Miller was the highest! Not Wacha,Rosenthal, or Martinez. Miller. Also, what does the SP outlook look vs SS? I'll tell you what Segura for all he shown this year, that type of season in 5years may not even crack top 10 SS status. There's a huge influx of Quality SSs about to hit the League. How does that fit to SP? In 5 years, what Miller does as a SP vs. what Segura does at SS will be valued more in trade or in that QO decision to sign Miller away for Draft pick compensation. I just think we are talking a A grade value guy for a B grade value guy. Just that, that A Grade Value guy was a B grade and the B Grade guy was almost an A Grade last season. But looking to the future you go with the A true potential. What everyone believes is an A Potential vs. what everyone believes, unlike shown that Segura is a B Grade guy. I just also think this team needs an Ace for the Playoffs and Lohse/Gallardo aren't them. Yes Segura is great but can Segura take over Game 1,4,7 of a Playoff series and win for us? Miller could become that shutdown Pitcher and I can only truly believe we win a Series with a Go-To SP talent and looking ahead for the next 5 years, Miller would be him....no-one else on Milwaukee fits it.
  8. I'm not looking at the complete list just what I've seen but: Ervin Santana, Hideki Kuroda, Ubaldo Jimenez!??...were extended QOs. I would hope like the Mets of last season that an 11th pick(12th in our case) would warrant zero want to forfeit draft pick to get these players. Not surprised with Yankees/Royals extending offer to Santana/Kuroda but to Ubaldo? Really? That poor guy won't sign all offseason if he doesn't accept it nor will he even get the 14mil from the offer from the Indians if he doesn't accept it after the deadline passes for him to accept it. I'd offer him 7mil. if I'm the Indians if he doesn't accept and never change my mind on the price. That compensation is worth more! And really, I think these Offers are a lottery choice with these clubs to maybe get a comped draft pick for 1 year of money.
  9. And the 1b front out there looks filled with .800OPS players under 3years or more of team control right? Not to mention the durability Trumbo has had. If it's Hart or Trumbo I'm taking Trumbo. If it's Morris or Trumbo, who do you want? Age wise Morris is 2 years younger only while Trumbo has 460 games of experience. I keep looking at the 1b market, prospect wise- and recall heading in to this season Hunter Morris was the 3rd best of them all in ranking. And meanwhile, we had the worst 1b output in the league throwing 7 guys on 1b who never had 1game of ML experience at it? Morris couldn't crack that? What does that say about the 1b prospects coming up? I am in the thought that 1b looks like Mark Trumbo's numbers only with 15 less HRs a season accompanying them. Anthony Rizzo was to be a premier 1b prospect and his numbers: .233/.323/.419/.742 23/80 Justin Smoak another: .238/.334/.412/.746 20/50 Yonder Alonso: ..281/.341/.368/.710 6/45 Logan Morrison: .242/.333/.375/.709 6/36 Chris Carter: .223/.320/.451/.770 29/82 calling Houston ballpark home Ike Davis: .205/.326/.334/.661 9/33 These were the future of 1b 3years ago all of them under .800 OPS Batting Averages similar his OB is lower but look at the counting stat...HR/RBI Trumbo's 34/100 is the top of the class there. He's been a 2+WAR player for 3 season's now. Something the Yuni comparison of OB clearly shows insignificance. And it's not like Trumbo was protected well in the lineup, a move to our better blended lineup could help on the pitches he sees. Again, if the team is going to approach 2014 as one of competing this move makes sense to me vs. a Hart pray and hope. Or Hunter Morris callup and hope. I for one don't see the Brewers really being competitive next season at least in the pitching matchups when it counts. I'd rather throw Gomez on the trade market for SPs. Give Hart his incentive laden deal for 1year, try trading Gallardo And Lohse and see what happens in return. But if MA and DM are trying to win, I feel much more secure about it going with Trumbo vs Hart considering you're dealing with Braun/ARam/Weeks on the maybe they'll not be injured front. You take Hart/ARam/Braun/Weeks and run them out there next season and hope none will miss significant time and I foresee it becoming a poor decision.
  10. MLBTR Reporting that the Angels are shopping for Pitching and offering up Trumbo/Bourjos as trade bait. He is arb eligible? for the first time? or 1 year away? Either way it would give the team 3-4years of control at 1b. And I'd expect cheaper than returning Hart. Just wonder if any of Milwaukee's pitchers would grab their attention to make the trade? What if the team paid 15mil of Lohse's salary? And returned Hellweg? for Trumbo? I wouldn't be willing to trade Peralta but after him, is any one pitcher also on your untradeables? I'm guessing Gallardo doesn't fit what Angels want. I just think of Trumbo hitting at MP and think he'd hit for 40HRs in a season. Any other thoughts/suggestions on this?
  11. Let's hope the right thing is done and Gomez IS the Gold Glove winner at CF. I think back to 2011 and Ryan Braun's 1 error only season with MVP numbers but yet the "Defensive metrics/guy that wows you" Parra won it. If Parra can win it over Braun then Gomez who had a much, much better offensive showing on top of the defensive showing that Parra had....that just has to equal win for Carlos. I mean, what else can Carlos win on the season? It would be a shame for BRef's NL tied for 1st WAR leader in the NL to not win a single accolade for being such. I mean is there any chance Gomez even cracks the top 15 in MVP voting?
  12. Then in what scenario is it not obstruction after you have missed diving for a ball, as the rule clearly contemplates? Umpires got the rule wrong. I think it was the right call. Watch the replay and why? oh Why? does Middlebrooks do half(okay 1/8) a pushup and lay flat..Good.... but then rather than lay dead and make this a true argument do a 1/2 pushup while kicking his feet up?(Girl Style right?) If those feet would have just stayed on the ground then the call was wrong. But no Will obstructed the runner with his leg/feet move. I hate that the game ends on an umpire call vs. being played out but if Middlebrooks doesn't raise that foot back up, the runner likely makes it home anyway. Also of note: Salty is a moron!! The fielder's choice makes it 2 outs and being a Catcher, the field General should know that and accept letting his CLOSER of all things do what he does best, which is get the next batter OUT to end the inning. If I ran Boston, Salty wouldn't be on my team next year saying just that, he's to big a moron to play catcher. Flat out lost Game 3 for us by being a moron. A Catcher should have Baseball Smarts and he doesn't have it. End of story Good luck to the organization that picks up that big dumb lump of stupidity! Edit: just want to add to how dumb Salty was because the entire situation likely went as this: Play Infield in to get the runner out at home if he goes and take it....Next batter is Pete "Frickin 0ferSeries" Kozma and that will be out #3 then. Nope, I lose my mind and make a dumb throw to third completely ruining the preplay strategy. At no time before that pitch was the thought process "We are going to not only get the runner on 3rd out but the runner at 2nd out while ignoring the batter" Yep what a way to end the inning. Rightly so, Salty wasn't in the lineup today...and I hope at best he only pinch hits the rest of the way.
  13. I remember there was a this big batch of college arms available to the Crew - Bradley, Jungmann, Gray, Chris Reed, Matt Barnes, Alex Meyer - I might have missed a couple as well. Rather sad to think our guys are turning out to be the worst of the bunch. So far only Gray has made it up to the Bigs of that group. And by looking at the numbers no one else is a lock to have any kind of impactful ML career after Gray. Which worse doesn't matter if none of them even make it to the Big League Roster they all are equal busts. Of course clearly Bradley is the worst of the bunch but of the rest, Jungmann to me has every bit of chance to have a small impact on a ML Roster as the others listed, just like he has every bit of chance to not even make the team for what he was drafted for..SP
  14. There is something about the 1b deals though...I mean Hunter Morris went in to this season as the "3rd Best" 1b prospect The 1b position has dried up and when you look at those 3 players and what they've done historically vs. what is coming up the pipeline, I completely see the view as to why an owner would take the long term high paid road. Now, meanwhile Texas signed Andrus to an 8yr extension with what looks like a soon to be flooded MLB SS talents. That contract to me is worse than any of the 3 1b contracts....okay Pujols may be an exception but only because you still wonder his true age. Put it another way via WAR: there were 10 1b to exceed 3WAR on this season 16 to exceed 2WAR. Prince had exceeded 3WAR in 4 of the prior 6seasons...and that is with his defensive limitations as is pounded out over and over...But Don't forget what Detroit has and had for a pitching rotation in considering signing Fielder. SO/K Kings Verlander and Scherzer. Detroit had a team 8.9 K per 9 this season after 8.3 last season. Milwaukee meanwhile had a 7k/9 this year So that is almost 2 outs a game 308 outs overall of balls not put in play which is almost 11games worth of not needing to rely on Fielder's Defensive liabilities. What they rely on is his batting skills. And yes it is down but in a down year removing the defensive aspect of 1b WAR and I'm sure he's still a top 10 1b. And give Detroit credit, they went out there and got Anibal Sanchez in 2012 and resigned him as a FA who added to that High K Octane Pitching staff effectively reducing a weakened Fielding team. oh and then they went and traded for that Superior Defensive SS in the making. That's an awesome forward thinking FO right there. Something I harped hard about on Lohse and the porous defense a lower K SP was going to have behind him to avoid the signing. Has it gotten them WS championships? No, but they continue to drop Division Banners. Edit Add: Just a reminder for those about Detroit and Prince's deal: Victor Martinez is a FA after next season so the final 6 years of that contract there's a strong likelihood Fielder will be a DH while manning 1b when need be. And is Fielder's pay as a DH exorbinant? Well, the White Sox just paid Abreau 11.3MM having never seen a single MLB pitch to more than likely be DH....
  15. I find it funny to try comparing all Batters numbers in the post season to their Regular season and then say they aren't doing what they are paid to do. So facing PLAYOFF Teams #1,#2 Ace starters twice in a 5 game span should be held against their ability? Like that lack of production from Pitchers that are ACES means those batters have begun decline. Remember who it is these guys are facing against and look what they have done over the season. It's also colder this time of year so balls aren't carrying majority of the time. Just a rant that to me I hold no batter to a high standard when they are in October playing in cold weather vs. Championship caliber pitching that got teams to that point to begin with.
  16. MLBTR is reporting that White Sox are leading the way and are about to sign him to 6year/68mil deal. And would be the highest paid international signing to date. And I read this is for a guy who just may be a DH? So does CHW just forego any minor league exposure and immediately insert him on their ML Team? This is stupid money imo. Nate proposed 6/7years at 50mil and that's reasonable since it would be a full Pre-Arb/Arb contrace with 1FA year deal. He's 26years old but to me this has to make the MLBPA pause with their stance on 23+yr old internationals being able to sign a FA deal. You're talking a Senior College who graduates at 22 takes 3years to get to MLB and begins PreArb for ages 25,26,27 before even reaching ARB at 28 and that won't even reach 7mil for them. This guy just signed for 11+mil a year! What? I would be okay with this if he wasn't paid anything the first year unless he made the team from playing in the minors and made the league minimum that season before having the contract kick in on the following season. But to be paid this with zero MLB exposure? I think this sets up for a new Pre-Arb/Arb process forthcoming because frankly it's embarrassing that a defector can make more next year alone than Mike Trout will make combined the past 2years and the next 3years?!!
  17. Are we forgetting that the high payroll teams not only win the FA market but in affording their hits in drafts? Dodgers sign Kershaw keep him like Kemp and add Grienke/Ryu. I think when you compare top 15 in payroll making the playoffs and the bottom 15 making the playoffs the difference just may be the homegrown guy the bigger salaried team was able to keep as well as bringing in a FA that same season. It's not just signing FAs that lead to Playoffs it's also signing Effective Draft selections homegrown to long extensions. Yankees keeping Jeter all those years. Remove Tampa from the bottom 15 since they've been so successful the last 5seasons and how's the comparison of top 15 to bottom 15? Tampa makes up what half of the bottom 15 playoff appearances? Doesn't change my opinion you wont see a salary cap work in MLB just because the mass amounts of money New York makes for Baseball. If the NFL were 162 games vs 16 you can probably figure the big markets would make too much money to allow a salary cap work.
  18. You know how I view the Puig dealings, is that 1 he's not from the US. He defected to the US, signed a contract and took Less Than a Calendar year to play for the Dodgers! You play the game 21years of your life one way and expect in a year's time to know the "unwritten rules/etiquette" that exists in MLB? I think of it like Boo Weekley who never played Match Play until the 2008 Ryder Cup and didn't know he could concede a putt. For Puig ignorance is Bliss when you watch him enjoy himself playing baseball. I honestly could care less about showboating in baseball. I prefer some excitement. It was afterall his 1st hit in that series at home and he got the crowd going berserk! Fans will show up to watch him play for that. Other teams fans will show up to boo him for that, either way he just put more fans in the seats. I do think that you have to be someone special though on a team to do a showboat. If it were Yuni out there showboating when you clearly are a detriment to your team then that's uncalled for. Why? Let's face it, if you are going to showboat you are bringing attention on to yourself and if you want attention then you need to be worthy of attention. Puig throwing guys out from the wall on the fly at 3b that is worthy. Crushing the ball to the opposite field with regularity like he does that is worthy. There are only a number of players on a team that should be allowed to showboat for Milwaukee I'd say Braun,Gomez,Segura and even Lucroy. They are the stars not only for their bats but do make plays defensively as well. And some fans are sticklers for that and if you are a star on both ends then yeah go ahead and showboat.
  19. With Green/Gamel waived you have to believe that 3b is Ramirez' job next season and there is 0 possiblity of him being traded away. Unless....The team goes in to a rebuild turn of events by trading away ARam/Gomez/Gallardo/Lohse and commits to Juan Francisco/Yuni manning 3b next season. And that isn't going to happen I'll bet my paychecks in December on it. There's no way you play the way you do down the stretch moving yourself from a 5/6th draft position to 11th with thoughts of rebuilding in the back of your mind. ARam will be on 3b 2014. And I'd figure 2015 as well barring some Coulter/Delmonico surge to make the Big League Roster.
  20. I agree Nate that the Brewers have zero chance of landing Price, but the names mentioned to get him only Profar I could see being dealt for Price. I actually believe the Price for Price will be too high and the Rays will wind up settling for less than expected because in truth will the Rays pay the 14mil he's due this season on that team payroll? Estimates are they are at 44mil team payroll with 14 players yet to fill their roster if keeping Price. It's 61mil if they exercise all the options but still need 11players to fill their roster. The most they've ever gone in to opening day payroll is 72mil. Unless all 11 players are PreArb players they will struggle to keep under 72mil. Not picking up Yunel Escobar's and David Dejesus contracts are another 10mil to work with but then 13players to fill their 25man. Zobrist is definitely remaining on that team because no Loney,Johnson,Escobar is no 1b,2b,SS and Zobrist will at least fill 1 of those positions for them. I'm thinking they pick up 1 of the 2 contracts and then try filling the other 12players working with 55mil in team payroll. Based on what I see Tampa needs to fill:LF,1b,SS and 4RPs. Thus why I suggested LA Dodgers being a decent fit for them. You just wonder if other teams think like me in that Tampa won't want to push 75mil-80 in payroll if they hang on to Price and fill their 25man roster. So look at it as let them go in to the season with a payroll they don't want or they solve their payroll by trading Price but not for the asking Price they seek. Personally, I do it even dirtier if I was the team seeking Price by overbidding Tampa's FA targets raising the price more on them making them even more desperate to trade Price to afford these FA guys they target. Tampa would be a great fit for Aoki in trade not that he's going to bring a big name like Price in return but 1.5mil and LF/CF ability will create flexibility for Tampa. Toss in Badenhop back to them maybe you can steal Blake Snell from Tampa?
  21. Again no. You should never be making a pick based on need ever. I don't care where you are picking you never pick based on need you always take the best player available. If the BPA is a pitcher and you are stacked at pitching guess what you are taking the pitcher because they are the BPA. Guess what I was getting to is that players being mocked as picked by Milwaukee are Pitchers. I like BPA but there is such a need to get an Ace type pitching prospect, I'm overlooking the BPA position player unless his talent far exceeds anyone else on the draft board. I am looking ahead at the future of this game and all I envision is every pitching prospect becoming overvalued beyond ML talent just for the fact a gem pitcher has so much value. look at the number of top pitchers and a bunch of them aren't playing for the team that drafted them. I foresee it being harder to acquire pitching, I'm thinking harder to make any trades in general. And part of that is because there's 5 post season spots, it's easier to get in. Not a fan of the 5th playoff team whatsoever. Think about the moves Cinncinati or Pittsburgh may have made if they already hadn't locked up a playoff spot around the trade deadline. Rather than make a move to beat one another for the final spot, they both were comfortably there and in. Sure Pitt made a couple trades but Cincy didn't have to respond they liked what they had and stuck with the team. So for me, I view the future of building an organization is by drafting pitching, a lot of them. Getting 1 ace out of a draft every 5 years will keep a team competitive. That is what Tampa has done. Rather than pay to have Price,Shields,Garza,Kazmir this season they rolled only with Price and remained competitive because they acquired young ace like pitching in return and drafted ace pitching. Look at Dodgers/St Louis series. Kershaw,Grienke,Wacha,Wainwright and even Miller/Ryu Tell me now who's your favorite for 2014 in the Central and West? And why? It'll be these 6 names mentioned first. Followed by the other players. Not because LA has Kemp,Gonzalez,HanRam or Stl having Molina,Holliday,Carpenter.
  22. Just looking up 3 quick Mocks and what they have Milw selecting: Brady Aiken Nick Gordon Okay well 2 and then a top players overall guide has Grant Holmes at 12th. Name I haven't seen in this thread. HS P out of Conway,SC. It would appear everyone is on the page that Milw needs to select a P with their pick. And now being at 12 I would agree. if we remained top 7 I'd be on the best overall player board. HS Pitcher is a must take.
  23. Tampa is drinking kool-aid and high on it after snagging the Shields return. Look at Wil Myers' production for them? He was such a force for them down the stretch and then they also got Odorizzi and Montgomery? Tampa got 2WAR from Myers half season to Shields 4.1WAR and -2.1WAR of Davis. And Odorizzi even pitched in .3WAR so half of year 1 in that Trade Tampa is ahead to they full year KC received. There's 6more years to go to 1. So yeah Tampa will and should seek to trade Price away for that kind of successful trade get. Besides, Tampa has Moore(future 2017trade away I'm sure)/Cobb/Archer trio to supplant Price. Add Odorizzi,Guerrieri,Colome,Romero in the works this revolving door Tampa has of trading Pitching away for high end prospects will only continue. and it's Good on Them to completely take advantage of some other teams desperation. I think the plan of action is, I don't care if we win 60games or 95 next season. I don't need to put an 85+win team on the field every season. I will either win with this plan or won't some years, but the future will always seem to point towards having an 85win team in a year or two. And that is why Lohse disappointed me to lose the draft pick for him. I'd rather see a true plan to the future and let it reap in rewards down the road rather than fly by the seat of your pants. For KC's troubles, look at them, they won this year, it was long overdue with all the talent they kept bringing up but not getting the most of it. They probably would have won if they kept Myers/Odorizzi without Shields or at least kept excitement up with the bats they would be tossing out their everyday. What team can take Price? Well it all depends on is it strictly Prospects or are 1st/2nd yr players on the take? Based on Prospect rankings: Seattle would be a desperate fit. Walker or Hultzen for Price? Pittsburgh could cough up some of their top line prospects. Imagine Price/Cole/Taillon/Liriano Rotation? Let's put the Dodgers out there. Pederson/Urias? Why not? Why not go with Kershaw/Price/Grienke/ and Ryu top 4? It's crazy to look back and it's Shields/Garza/and Kazmir as their real big trades. it seems like way more but that's it. The hauls for Shields/Garza have just been that big. But by asking for a future ML SP in return they set themselves up with the position player to be able to afford to trade away a SP and not skip a beat. Archer/Odorizzi and then getting Lee/Myers position it's great idea 2 for 1 ML building. So I like the idea of Dodgers and Pederson/Urias to headline the Price deal.
  24. I don't feel one bit like I'm overreacting to Pitts. season. I'd take Pitts. pitching staff over Milw. in a minute going in to next season. And the bats you are looking at are like this projecting next season: LF:Marte CF:McCutchen RF:Polanco/Tabata until Polanco takes it over permanently 1b:tbd 2b:Walker SS:Hanson 3b:Alvarez C:Martin Alen Hanson #39 prospect SS this season:.274/.329/.427/.755OPS 8HRs/30SBs Replacing Clint Barmes: .211/.249/.309/.558OPS 5HRs 0SBs Huge upgrade This is Pitts Jean Segura next season Gregory Polanco #13 prospect OF this season: .285/.356/.434/.791OPS 12HRs 38SBs He'll replace Tabata who had some success this season: .274/.337/.411/.748OPS 6HRs 4SBs But still an upgrade. And the pitching 1yr wonders are being replaced full time by Cole,Taillon the #10 Prospect, Liriano, and then Jeff Locke/Charlie Morton round their 4/5 and future staff addons of Heredia/Glasnow/Kingham in the waits. And Mr Wandy Rodriquez just may be their #6 for insurance on Locke/Morton. There is far more upside and security in knowing Pitts. is an 85+ win team next year. They have 4 legit OFs Walker/Hanson with Mercer as backup. Alvarez at 3b Martin with former top 5 draft pick Tony Sanchez backup at C. Their only weakness next season at the plate is 1b. Who knows? Maybe they put Walker there if they can't tab a decent 1b in FA. I'd put Pitts. offense as equal if not better than Milw next season with Aoki potentially be removed from Leadoff which leaves a big hole for someone to fill.
  25. Back on Task. If Braun moves to RF and Davis to LF with Gomez in CF. You have to believe a revolving door involving Gennett/Segura. Would the team bat Braun 2nd? with Segura 1st? Maybe throwing Gomez 3rd/Ramirez 4th/Lucroy 5th/Davis 6th? Or do they bat Lucroy 2nd? Segura 1st,Braun,Ramirez,Davis/Gomez order? That's how I see it. Segura bats leadoff when you remove Aoki and insert Davis, being the power hitter Davis is you figure a 5th/6th in order spot. And what is 1b yet? Personally, if we take Aoki out with the makeups of the lineup I'd go Segura,Braun 1,2. just to keep speed/OB atop the lineup. If Gomez was better getting OB he'd be perfect for #2 but he just doesn't do it. Lucroy batting 2nd makes sense on the OB part, but not when looking at the speed part. And Lucroy batting ahead of Braun negates potentially hard running Doubles/triples he may try taking on the paths but can't with slower Lucroy. I don't like the Segura/Gennett combo ahead of Braun at the moment until 1 of the 2 begins taking seeing eye BBs. And when you look at the power of Braun/Ramirez/Gomez/Davis I don't like the idea of sliding them down with Lucroy in the mix for 5/6 to bat Gomez/Davis 6/7. My lineup would just wind up being: Segura/Braun/Lucroy/Ramirez/Davis/Gomez/Gennett/1b/ If Hart signs back maybe Segura/Hart/Braun/Ramirez/Lucroy/Gomez/Gennett/Davis? Let's face it, no one is going to really be an ideal option removing Aoki.
