  1. This isn't close to being correct. Not even a little bit. Which part was incorrect. Hader was at his highest value last offseason when he was considered to be the best reliever in baseball and he came with an extra year of control. The last thing I want to see is him moved in a deal like Cleveland took for Clevenger which was quantity over quality. I would rather just keep Hader and hope we can get a dominant version of him going forward than accept a package without any headline prospects. Yes we are in deperate need of young position player talent but that talent needs to be top notch and not a package of mediocre players. Up to Hader's previous 3 games pitched, you had better believe he had the Dominant RP tied next to him. He's had 2 bad pitching outings out of 17. He didn't give up a run in his first 9 outings, a hit in his first 12 outings! He is still supremely valuable. Did the Brewers miss out on his highest value? Yes of course but considering honestly that value should have been a Lux top 10 type prospect. Or at least a mix of two top 35 prospects, plus. Now, the team should at least be looking at a top 35 plus, plus. He'll be dealt this offseason I'm sure of it. If MLB intends to make it 16team playoffs, they just added teams that should vie for Hader this offseason. Like literally 25 of them vs maybe 12 of them.
  2. Im cool with the expanded playoff but there needs to be the caveat that 79wins as an 8seed doesnt qualify for the playoffs. 1seed just gets a bye at that point. Likewise if it turns out the 7 seed is at 79 wins. Just put it 80wins and top 8 seed to qualify. If #2 in a division is 79wins DQ. A losing team during the season shouldnt have the opportunity to win the WS after 162 game grind. If you believe they do, there shouldn't be 162games in a season. Make playoffs 7game series letting below .500 teams play vs #1&2seeds. So that means reduce the season to 146games. (4 in division games each) This will give a 95-100win team the proper HFA over a 71 (in 146gm under 500) or less win team. You want 8 teams? Nhl and NBA play 7game series. That's how this needs to go.
  3. I don't agree on the power and .300 BA needed w/o. At this point in 2020 his LHP splits are an .819 OPS and .308/.357. Sure Love to see a RHP split far better than where it's at, but you can easily fill him with LHP platoon atop your Batting Order with .300+/350+ numbers. His Career split vs LHP is even higher. Imagine if you will a guy name Brice Turang who bats Lefty having a 2020 season to grow on and insert in the MLB lineup during the 2021 season should Urias be deemed a platoon SS/3b. Lucas Erceg as a LHB platoon mate for 3b in 2021. But what happened? Covid and a ruined year, not something one could predict during the trade. Also the reminder once again that Stearns was in full blown "Addressing the SS position" upon the end of last season due to Arcia being an unreliable bust. Team picked up a top 20 prospect Urias vs a non top 100 prospect and afterthought player in Grisham. Traded a RH arm for a cheaper more controlled LH arm. Davies pitcher profile would clearly take a huge jump within SD vs Milw and Miller Park/AmFam. NL West is just a better division to pitch in vs the Central. Lauer has 3 Game appearances. RP 0 ERA. SP 17.55 ERA It's too early to decide this trade based on all the present data. I would think it would require 2 full seasons to even begin discussing winner/loser unless it was clear who was winning the trade (like Yelich and MVP) Is Davies up for Cy Young? Is Grisham up for MVP? Most games played but not even top 10BWAR for position players, so I'd think not.
  4. Teenagers/turning 20 Pitchers 2 years in the minors experience. 6'3", 6', and 6'3" That seems a great upside haul. Really enjoy that they have 3 Pitchers to continue this new Pitchers renaissance they are brewing. I can't wait for the return for Hader's future trade, as I think they'll get the bats the system and team desperately need. Using your high trade value for that and the lower value Phelps types on lottery pitchers or pitchers in general. The idea I believe may have come from the Royals WS win in theory. Elite back of the pen and hope you can survive through the first 5IP with what Starters you are having. The fact the Woodruff and now Burnes are becoming that mold gives you technically 2/3rds of a Starting rotation 7games series ability to do just that. Anyway, bending back towards the Phelps side, Quite awesome imo get for a rental pitcher. Traded just at the right time as the bad Phelps is what the Phillies are getting.
  5. I was hoping the Packers would get Justin Jefferson in the draft as I was thinking he was going to be a stud. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have a coming out party today and get 100+ receiving yards to put his name on the map after the first week. He’s going to be a good one for a long time. Whether the Vikings utilize him properly early on is a different story in and of itself. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s their number 2 by season’s end and finishes the season with 1000+ yards. But he has zero NFL game experience. You dont have a coming out party. Game 1 of your NFL career where you are the #3 WR. Especially with 0 preseason snaps. Vikings O will consist of Cook Cook Thielen with Rudolph sprinkled in as thats who Cousins has experience with and can trust.
  6. Imagine if you will. Houser is having his Burnes SP season before locking in next year.
  7. Game today, looking at Minnesota's Depth chart, Adam Thielman is about it for WR. They'll try to run Justin Jefferson as their #3. With a Healthy Defense, the Packers have got to shut this unit down fairly simple wouldn't you think? If they limit Cook to under 125yards even, where else will the offense come from? Do have to be concerned that the middle LBs will be Kirksey and Burks followed by Kingsley holding up. I'm going go out and say Packers win 30-13 today. Crowd noise not going to be a factor. This could become a 40s to 10 laugher with a number of Cousins INTs
  8. I dunno. Seems like an 11-5 team to me. Believe Rodgers is more confident on the offense heading in to this year. Defense has it's players. Crosby is good. We're starting the year with Ervin who is a huge improvement from what was KR/PR last season. In a year where there's been no preseason games, I think GB's veteran side will show better than any team that is beginning the season with a new QB, New Coach, that type of stuff. Defense was really a proud group to rally around, I think those pieces being together can create a lot of havoc. Alexander and Savage to me will have really big seasons. Talking 5INTs or more for both. I look at AJ Dillon and hope he's the bruiser they need beyond Jones who I truly wonder being a Trade off for somebody the team needs around the deadline and a pick. TEs are going to be the offensive key I'd watch for on success. Tonyan, Sternberger, and now Deguara(he has to slot in TE spots at times right? Being possession controling mid field targets Rodgers and O utilize more. Adams if the TE play is existent, is going to have a massive year.
  9. Middleton is a 3. A shooter that isn't a reliable enough scorer to generate his own offense. They're masquerading him as a 2 and paying him like one, but he's a superb #3. This^. Middleton was easily a #3 and not a #2 as being trotted out there as. Definitely not a max contract paid like a #1 much less a #2. Brogdon over Bledsoe. As the #3. Should have found Giannis a true #2. Just a terrible end to what was such a shoe-in promising season. I do fully believe the "Bubble" vs a true H/A matchup advantage played a huge roll in the demise. Home games with fans in basketball to me have got to have the largest impact of any sport being home vs on the road. Energizing vs Deflating. A quick 6-0 run can explode to 24-6 run in a matter of minutes. Can the team pull off a High contract trade involving Middleton for another? that nets the true 2 Giannis and the Bucks need?
  10. Guy makes one offseason of moves that haven't turned out in the first 60+games and boom you've lost confidence in him? Still going to call him one of the best GM's in baseball and please stay in the Milw organization another 10 years at minimum! Fact of the matter is the hitters aren't hitting. Remotely at all like you'd even expect as just an average year for them. Josh Lindblom a 3yr 9mil contract experiment as a #4/5 SP is off to a poor start. And it may not work at all. 3mil a year is less than the average salary for a MLB player. Had the move worked the extreme positive would be GM of the Year type stuff. If and When waiving him should occur, the team won't be staring at him 3M cost and say we're handcuffed for the next 5years. Garcia's 2/20mil contract or 3/30 is a cheaper contract and the guy posted 7WAR over the last 3years. Age 29 is still during prime age year and age 30 is the expected begin to fall off. Well, 18,19, and 20HR seasons were his last 3 seasons. None of that would predict that Garcia having the worst hitting year by far in his entire career at 77OPS+ vs an 89OPS+ career low. Phelps is an epic signing. 1.5mil this year, netted .6BWAR and now 3 lottery ticket prospects. Smoak a Switch hitting 1b. Off of a lull year and signed to basically MLB average salary. 5BWAR combined the 2 years prior. He's having HIS worst Batting season of his career. Who at 1b would you have picked up? while solving the L/R platoon mix Counsell enjoys playing. Brett Anderson. For 5mil, he's more than earning his salary thus far. Lindblom/Anderson were moves that helped deepen the pitching in case you lost out on Freddy Peralta for one(who was lights out during Spring Training and received a deal), Burnes who was lost last year, and Lauer acquired in trade. Again, so Stearns filled #4 and #5 in the rotation for 1 season for 8mil. With Upside behind them that we're waiting to take shape. Complaining about the team's hitters in the minors, is ignoring the fact on what the team has been bringing up and producing in the last few seasons in pitching. These 2 are just placeholders awaiting this wave of upside. Had he signed Lindblom or Anderson to say 3yr/33mil deals(Lohse anyone?) that would be the sign of handcuffing the team and Counsell with inserting the two in the rotation as often as possible the next 3 years. Doing so would block the guys like Houser/Burnes/Peralta from starting. (I've seen guys clamor towards Rasmussen starting a game. If he could, he's not blocked next season) Narvaez. He has an OB pct just 10pts currently that was above his career BA and that OB is over 100pts below his career OB. Age 28. Prime. This should not be happening and completely unpredictable. Urias. Stearns said he'd fix SS and he acquired a top 25 prospect who had just 83games up to age 23 career. A career that is now 102 games old. Grisham. Well if you want to be upset towards the bats above not producing to their career norms or expectations. It's pretty safe to say Grisham's career norms was one of a .700OPS and you'd mope about how talentless a 700OPS OF is. A AAA HR ball that led to a career year(Sogard in a moment) a .738 OPS Brewer year. Yeah I'm sure at .738OPS you'd want that in your pocket for a lineup. I mentioned previously, what SS was available affordably who presents the upside Urias could bring this offseason? Meanwhile a .738+ OPS OF bat was easily there to buy in Garcia. Give it some time it'll more than pay off. Sogard imo was backup for terrible Arcia and Urias recovering from injury. But I'm sure most forget that. Counsell's usage of Sogard vs Urias is the problem. Not Stearns. Gyorko is a placeholder at 3b who for half the price of a MLB salary has outperformed that. 1yr commitment. So why are we complaining again for a 1 year commitment on majority of offseason transactions? How about complain after 2021 season if Stearns has immense unlucky moves. and poor results. Say Stearns let's Haines go and finds a new hitting coach, whoa solved. MiLB isn't playing, firing Haines today, he wouldn't have the hitting coach worthy of a promote from the minors to replace with. Who's he going to replace him with? This offseason he can pluck somebody from another team to do so. One Year. Think about that. One Year. Ever learn from your mistakes? Because they losing confidence in Stearns over 1 stupid year is saying you never ever learned from a mistake. You never ever evolved from a mistake. And these moves are not even a mistake! It's an experiment imo. Something you learn from. It takes time on draft picks(D. Williams for example) Hiura is ahead of the curve. Many top picks/prospects were used to be a winning team 3 straight years. The depth from finding pitching is much, much better than EVER. Turang/Lutz were the following season after Hiura. You've just gotta give it another 2 years to really make any claim on how his drafting players have gone. He's backfilling the minors on trades. We haven't seen the blockbuster trade where he acquires prospects for one of the team's soon to become final year control/FA players, but it's getting closer. That move will influx talent, and I believe it will begin a churn of adding talent. In a way he did that with Davies/Grisham only with ML pieces vs prospects.
  11. Just No. He's had a TJ. He's producing spin rates on this elite Changeup with a motion that can't be replicated. Just enjoy the next 6 seasons with hopefully all of them played. If he continues being elite, you get a great haul for him and at minimum(should it exist) get to a QO and comp pick. The team's payroll limits just can't commit 10+mil to one RP vs the prospect haul from trading him. Your offer has 3 years of them. BTW, I am supremely happy that he is succeeding after the long road post-draft. On top of that he was the Brewer's 1st pick that season. So to see one turn out especially in the 2nd round is exceptional. Pretty amazing Hader's B2B RP of the year will be lost to another Brewer. Homegrown at that.
  12. Ha, while looking up Philly prospects, prior to the names listed, Victor Santos was a link I think on 1500prospects but it went to the Brewers' Victor Santos BRef page.
  13. So it's 3 Ptbnl or 2 depending on who they select. This gives me the idea that 1 of the 2 are potentially dealing with injury/recovering from one who is a higher regarded prospect, or 3 that presents quantity over quality. Looking at MLB.com top 30 Kyle Young is returning from TJ done in May of 2019. Just as an example. Amazing a guy 6'10" in this day would only top out around 91(before TJ) Yet at same time presents a 1.4BB/9 thus far when taking the mound. Ethan Lindow has the Brewers preferential Spin Rate termed in his summary. These two would be #25/29. Looking at prospect1500 Josh Gessner International signing from Aus age 19. 6 G, 3 GS, 2.84 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 12.2 IP, 17 K, 7 BB, 12.1 K/9, 2.43 K/BB Kevin Gowdy is another former injured arm who return in 2019. 2nd round pick https://lastwordonsports.com/2016/05/07/kevin-gowdy-2016-mlb-draft-profile/ Seems had very high upside with command as a plus, only his return in 2019 was the complete opposite nearly 6bb/9 That right there gives the idea Gowdy is the get, because the upside is there (written as possible ace before draft) while fallback is of course future stud RP. whom you can trade after any kind of success.
  14. I do think you're being overly dismissive of just how good Andujar's "good not great year" really was. A 5-WAR season would instantly rate him as the second best bat on the entire Brewers roster, and legitimately WAS great. A lot of his value was sapped away due to crappy defense at third, which would be mitigated by the DH next year in the NL. You'd obviously have to think he was convertible to 1B and able to play competently there for it to be a match. But, it's impossible to ignore how ineffective he's been since that great season in 2018. As such, I still don't think a deal with the Yankees is ideal or even feasible. If you look at Andujar's splits on that rookie season, Only the Mets&Rays does it look like he had an OPS over .775. The best stats were vs the Tank mode teams like Baltimore, White Sox, Blue Jays, Rangers, Mariners, Marlins. The split is .966 vs opponents under .500 and just .710 vs opponents above .500. Never mind that HR Derby ballpark in NY. 16HRs was his best HR season in the minors. 27 as a Yankee rookie was a fluke.
  15. Not sure why you'd say "yuck" about either. Andujar, at 23, put up a really nice offensive season and the Yankees are having him learn multiple positions. Frazier is just a good but not great hitter. I'd want someone like Dominguez and then at least another nice prospect, but I think Andujar, if the Yankees part with him, is going to flourish somewhere else where he can get consistent playing time. Just not sure where that playing time comes. But given that it sounds as though the Brewers are asking for a LOT for Hader...I doubt we see him moved anyway. I am curious though, can you include PTBNL in a trade this year? I haven't paid attention to the details...would this allow you to acquire someone who's not part of the 60 man? If you want Andujar, way to ruin the team's future. He wasn't spectacular in the minors, and had a good not great year. Injured and terrible since. The Yankees can't wait to dump him on some team. Dominguez hasn't even played a game after signing. 5'10" That's a project, not someone who will be on the team in next 2 seasons if at all. You may make that deal and up with Negative WAR from Andujar and a bust of a prospect for the best RP in the game. Kudos on that.
  16. The Padres 2 best RPs are LH and controlled. I think it doesnt add up. Pomeranz is perfect thus far. Rushing to nab Hader now just doesn't fit what the team needs and would just waste prime resources to acquire what they do need. Aka Clevinger.
  17. After today's game, if Hader is traded tomorrow, the last Brewer game played by him will be 5bbs and .1 IP Blown Save. The only thing I wondered about his game yesterday was if Nottingham being a taller bigger catcher if his setup threw Hader's high strike zone just too high? Or was that just game day glitching making every pitch seem 2-4" too high? Was Hader up there thinking this was his last Brewer game and crumbled under the pressure he put on himself? Anyway back on trade ideas. The Yankees dont have the prospects. i would accept in any trade for Hader. Dodgers are Lux or bust as their system doesnt have a headliner beyond him. Padres, Sox, Twins are the deeper systems you wanna deal with. I just don't know. Going to play the it won't happen and wait to here that it did.
  18. Counsell will sit Sogard next game. His reward to HR hitters.(or is it punishment?)
  19. While this is likely said in jest, halfway through the season the Brewers would currently receive a top ten draft pick (either 9th or 10th depending on tiebreaker with Reds). In this strange 60 game season finishing with an opportunity for a good draft pick wouldn’t be the worst consolation for missing the playoffs. I just looked the standings up and you're right we'd be 10th currently(Believe tiebreaker is prior season's record) Former Brewer Brett Phillips was traded recently to Tampa for Lusius Fox.
  20. I don't know that at age 20stats from a 1st overall pick you can determine an overall not good. He Ks about 1/6th of time thus far hit 14HRs in an age 19season. Has CF-SS-3b position flexibility to grow on to. Would seem to me to envision higher results. That kind of K pct should put him in the .285-.310 BA expectancy. Maybe higher? 14HR season at 19 isnt a wonder to dream 30 or more at ML level and games. Now as a SS or CF that is upper tier to reach that. And at least the production you want for a 3b. (Am seeing really just a SS thus far) But I do agree much prefer Kirriloff simply for 1b-OF need fill+ closer to majors+higher slugging to date. I mention the pitcher as a return another top 100 prospect. Think youre getting more bang for your buck than that other proposal. (Would expect a 3rd player don't care beyond top 2) Kepler is going nowhere. He's finally fulfilling the potential he presented as a prospect and the Twins have him at a comfortable contract during his prime ages. It'd probably take Hader plus Urias in order to acquire him.
  21. Our outfield depth currently consists of a 36 year old Braun, Yelich, Garcia (is anyone impressed by him?), Cain who will be 35 right after opening day next year, Corey Ray and Tyrone Taylor. If that group of outfielders impresses you in both quality and depth then I have a 1985 Yugo with your name on it. Garrett Mitchell waves hello. Look. Arcia was brutally bad at the plate last season. Tell me who the depth is at SS? Brice Turang and? Who was solving the SS depth this past FA offseason? How much would that have been? Playing at the corner corner outfield position is bloated with depth. Are they AS? No but you are going to find scrapheap .700+OPS ability all over. Not so at SS. Urias has the prospect pedigree to believe he could boast 800+ OPS He was above 900 OPS in AAA. He approaches just 800 OPS for a SS thats an easy 4WAR player. Better yet his BB rate over 10% in the minors cancels out Grisham's one trick pony positive he had in the minors. Both are 23. An 800 OPS bat wasnt something improving the Brewers OFs. But 800 OPS bat at SS would be a Godsend. Grisham (coming in to tonite) has 30 games played on to this season. Urias has 45 PAs. A single 3HR game would likely vault him above Grisham on OPS. It is far to early to get bent out of shape on the trade.
  22. I'll throw Minnesota as the trade partner. Alex Kiriloff and Jordan Balzovic are 2 top 100 prospects with upside. The Twins are a team that paid Donaldson this offseason, lose Cruz after this season, don't have elite closer now, and are fighting the uprising White Sox not just now, but imminently in the next few seasons and beyond. 1991 was last time they made the WS, the pressure may be on to secure a legit closer. MLB.com lists Kirilloff as a 1b/OF. Right there he would solve the 1b problem since Fielder. Balzovic had a 129k/25BBs in 93.2IP last season. Seems a certainty to become a Starter, but at worst a guaranteed RP.
  23. Interesting. Gameday is calling 89.6MPH pitch also his 4 seam fastball. Is that a changeup for him? Or is he taking near 10MPH off his fastball?
  24. I'm thinking it's because Gamel is CF behind Garcia atm. You're essentially asking for rookies otherwise to play CF during a playoff stretch. What live games are Mathias or Taylor playing right now? Maybe help is on the way in the form of a trade? (Do rosters get smaller soon? Maybe a scrapheap during that stretch?)
