  1. I'll mention yet again that NFL football teams do not use the same value system on potential picks as guys like Mel Kiper and Todd McShay do. This idea that Love didn't "fall" to the Packers is a non-starter. All it takes is the Packers feeling Love fell to them. Also, there was talk leading up to the 2005 draft that if Rodgers were to make it past the first few picks of the first round, he very well could fall. That wasn't a huge surprise. This draft will ultimately be judged several years down the road based on how love develops and how successful he is as a starting NFL QB, but ragging on the Packers for taking him, and trading up a few spots to do it, is kind of a strawman argument right now. Ok Love didn't "Fall" without trading up to pick. Rodgers "Fell" all the way to our pick at 24. See, like in the past guys like Nelson, Adams, and Cobb fell to our pick and drafting them just felt like a luxury while not filling the draft needs of the current team. Love is a luxury pick and if they took him at 30 I wouldn't be as upset about it as I am. When I heard them moving up it made perfect sense that they would draft the #1 need on the team and highest value left at MiLB in Patrick Queen. This is in the Realms of doing the Clay Matthews move. Among the LB class it was basically Simmons, Murray, and Queen as 1st rd consensus. Then a gap. Jordyn Brooks happened to go at 27 before Queen at 28 but then the next LB picked wasn't til #60. Queen for a #2 Super Bowl Odds contending team has played around 70+% of all defensive snaps for Baltimore. Brooks on the other hand, hadn't reached 20% yet. You have Franchise Starting Middle LB today, versus groom and hope a franchise QB 3-5years from now. Plain and simple as that. You move up for the Starting 1st rd pick, you let that franchise groom QB fall to you, or that QB is starting for you planning-wise in his rookie season. Queen is a difference maker, look at his advanced stats. 20 targets 15completions. Missed Tackles? 4 while having 42 combined tackles. 8.7% Kirksey for GB? 10 targets 9 completions. 2 missed tackles 6.9% 27 combined tackles. Summers 12 targets 12 completions. 4 missed tackles 20% 16 combined tackles Barnes 8 targets 7 completions 0 missed tackles 0% 25 combined tackles Greene 2 targets 2 completions 2 missed tackles 15.4% 11 combined tackles Burks 1 target 1 completion 1 missed tackle 20% 4 combined tackles A Slam dunk was right there and somehow we 2020'd it.
  2. I bumped it because Chase Claypool had a 4TD day on Sunday. I said I'd have taken him at 30 before the draft and he would have been there at 30. 5TDs total now for him. He's going to be a star for a long time to come. Legit #2 and potentially #1 target for a QB even when talking about Adams for Rodgers. I addressed that the team imo had 2 desperate needs to draft in the 1st round. ILB and WR. I want to win a SB not play fantasy football dynasty league with the 1st/4th rd picks. Summers is garbage, Queen is running circles around him while Summers is still trying to decide what he should do in the play. And that is today! 5games in to his career vs Summers having a full year on him to practice and learn the position. Love is still holding a clipboard, and until Rodgers and Tim Boyle are injured to a point they can't play, he'll still be holding a clipboard. Love didn't fall to the 30th pick. Rodgers did fall to our pick. Comparable and huge, huge difference.
  3. So dumpster diving 2.0. I totally expect another underwhelming offseason unless we can improve through the trade route. Look at the FAs. Who please tell would be players you wouldn't call Dumpster-diving? Can't wait to see this long list...ahem oh maybe it's just one.
  4. I'd think Vaughn as a late 2021 or some addition in 2022 if he stays healthy, baseball returns to normal. I'm really not worried on his timeline as he's projected to be a good everyday player at a position MKE has 0 projected being now or in the future. Unless Yelich moves to 1b. I'm not going to fixate too much on a Pitcher after Devin Williams and Burnes' 2020s. There's too much positive on pitching and not enough on hitting. Get the best you think moving forward after Vaughn headlining. Pina seems like a guy they could add for the Sox to net a bigger return. Or just Hader alone for Vaughn and lottery tickets as the White Sox' #20-30 prospects seem to carry alot of upside.
  5. 4TDs today ho hum game 5 of career. Has Love even been active for a game? Patrick Queen with a sack/strip fumble and recovery today.
  6. Okay, I may have been wrong on whomever loses the Padres v Dodgers series as the team to look at Hader and get him. Lost in the idea for the Padres is that they signed Pomeranz last offseason who was a stud at closer for them. Hader would be a luxury for them, but I'd say their primary focus would be finding one more SP(Bauer) to be taken truly seriously. And, or they acquire a SP from a team. They have some top prospects Pitchers and a SS named CJ Abrams who comes in 21st that is a guy fully expendable with Tatis manning SS for maybe the next 16seasons for SD. I guess there lies why Urias was available. All in all I think you can cancel Hader in the plans to San Diego. Let's go back to the White Sox. Depending what they spend this offseason, they are losing their closer this FA. Alex Colome. Hader would fit in to a window of Grandal/Kuechel/Giolito last years with the Sox. Abreu leaves 1 season earlier. Plus Options or FA on Moncada, Anderson, Jimenez the following season. On their prospect list the White Sox do have a 1b in Gavin Sheets ahead of their #1 prospect Andrew Vaughn in terms of when to graduate to the majors and a replacement on Abreu. The matchup then is there for White Sox to use Vaughn to headline a deal for Hader. White Sox are obviously loaded to fill out a deal beyond Vaughn, pitchers and Rookie-A ball lottery tickets. I'd honestly not expect another top 100 prospect with Vaughn being at #13 currently. Like I said, they have a ton of upside lottery beyond seeing as they were bad for quite awhile and the overspending on International picks during that time. Benyamin Bailey sounds intriguing as a 6'4" batter who had more BBs than Ks in 2019. Jose Rodriquez a middle inf with pop. Will Kincanon as a Pitching part of the deal to fill a bullpen role down the road. The other AL Central team to watch for are Minnesota Twins with a similar headlining 1b. Love to see a 1b on the team for 6+years solidly.
  7. Let's change the game to improve what the fans are watching. 1. Automated strike zone because 2. Fine players 1% of their yearly salary for every 10games their Kpct is above 32% starting from game 10 on the count. 3. Fine pitchers that have pitches recorded above 99.5mph. Essentially removing 100mph pitches from the game. Not sure what the fine would come to. Maybe the idea is 3-8times whatever the percentage of their pitches are above said 99.5mph. The fined amounts can get put in to a pool and shared amongst all the players who didnt record any reasons to be fined. All pitches below 99.5MPH &not 1 10game Kpct. fining. For the better of game. Hopefully this reduces the TJs pitchers are rampant with in this era. Hopefully you see more batted balls in play. And you are done with idiot umpire strike zones. No longer does a hitter have to start believing a pitch 2inches low, high, outside,or inside will be called a strike after a bad call. Swinging at garbage because what is a strike? Another caveat could be that hitters literally can practice what the strike zone parameters are and learn a newer swing for contact in different parts of the zones.
  8. White Sox are in no immediate need/win now. I'd have them in wildcard tier as a team you can't rule out. Phillies are losing Realmuto who's a top bat at catcher in all of baseball. Past offseason would have made more sense on urgency. Now, I'd just also put them in the big market/spending teams. Angels need a lot of pitching, Pujols contract ends next season, give them a hold and not tier 1. Twins I do agree with at tier 1. Sergio Romo blew the game this past playoff and with an option they may just move on. White Sox Youth movement is in process and the window is definitely small. Hader has dominated the Twins so there's that positive effect to not have to face him. I'd add Yankees to tier 1. They could just pay Hader for another 8years immediately buying out his Arb years and having that closer in the ilk of Mariano Rivera. They clearly want him, they don't have the ammo they want to part with to get him, or that Sterns wants. Tampa Bay is a problem for them the need and desire is there. Padres or Dodgers one is tier 1 who loses the series they are in. The other is big spender territory. This is where I expect the trade to come from, as it's a beat the other team desire forthcoming. I gotta go this is taking to long to respond and dinner is calling.
  9. Not sure on the Mets making a deal like that. Remember they were bought by Billionaire Cohen and that may mean a new direction on how money is spent, ie like on a Trevor Bauer. The Mets have Amed Rosario for SS cheap and controlled/former top 10 prospect and that makes Urias just a 2nd Rosario backup. Robinson Cano at 2b making 24mil/yr. I don't believe so much in Urias at 3b. Just not the profile 3b and not showing a batting line that you would trust. Removing both Davis and Mcneil would put a big hole in their offense and Urias at 3b at under .700 OPS is a big loss. Mets from what I see don't have an OF to replace McNeil. Just not a match without some other moves made initially by the Mets to make this seem to work.
  10. Yes its old. Like mid 30s. Like La Stella. I throw Cabrera out there for 1st because guy has played SS and his Def rated positive for 1b. He's a 15-20 HR switch hitter who had an OPS that would have been 4th this year on the team and 100+points higher than Smoak. 8hrs this year, 18 in '19. You just know what you're getting with him. Maybe even get in the ears of Urias. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/09/mlb-free-agent-preview-first-base-2020-2021.html/url] for a reference what's out there. That is Cron, Lamb, retreads Smoak and LoMo, Dietrich, and Brad Miller. Cabrera played in 131games in 2019 his lowest in 10seasons. As I said #5 or #6 hitter. .260/.320/.435 18HRs under 125ks. Not a hindrance defensively. From the list on MLBTR, who else can you pencil that in with? Switch hitter means Counsell won't have to platoon him with somebody. Career on 3rd less than 2outs-.923OPS. 893 OPS as 1b this season. Over .900 OPS as a PH for his career. So please go ahead and tell me how he doesnt help the lineup? Looking deeper at his splits, he his exactly everything the lineup needs. And he can move over to play 3rd or 2b and not hurt your defense doing so. Would I like a 900OPS bat at 1b? Of course. Doesn't exist in this FA.
  11. Could we just pull Jeff Cirillo out of whatever he's doing and just place him as hitting coach? I mean, if thought process is a hitting coach doesn't do a whole lot with players swings, you gotta imagine he have a better strategy on opposing starters than Haines did. Putting the ball in play like he did vs. the k rates this lineup alarmingly had. I mean even just a mentor to Hiura alone has gotta produce positive results. If Darnell Coles can be a hitting coach, I'm positive Cirillo can.
  12. That one is on Rodgers. He had 3 targets to throw to past 1st down line and went deep. Speaking of Rodgers. Has he looked any happier than he did in this game?
  13. Yep. Don't think he'd fair all to well at 1b. La Stella imo is about to ask for a 3/27-36 career defining contract. His best 2 seasons in value are 2019 and 2020. He's over 30, he's not the FA who's looking for the 1year prove it deal, he's proven it likely as high as he's going to. I wouldn't be surprised the winning bid is having a 4th year option. Something like 5mil buyout or 15mil. Thus the 5mil keeps the 3year avg lower in payroll by nearly 2mil. Oakland just traded away a former top 30 prospect/100 late SS in minors for the smallest of rental for TLS. I think that may be outta the price range and commitment for a late blooming utility inf to play 1b in the scenario. Part of the picture on that is not only the payroll effect, but guys like Hader/Kneble/Gyorko/Garcia/Gamel/Pina are trade potentials in a 2021 deadline deal that may get a 1b/3b in return. My idea on Cabrera would likely fit Stearns' 1+ rental signing while I think we're in the waiting mode for the offense now to catch up with the pitching. He doesn't need to rebuild or get crazy. Just waiting for the right offer or FA to fit the roster.
  14. Posted this in the Plan thread. Asdrubal Cabrera to play 1b. Started 23 games this year for the Nationals and at age 35 for 2021 should be someone had for under 10mil. guessing 5-7.5mil on a 1yr deal. Maybe you go 2/12mil with 2nd an option at 7.5mil but buy out at 1.5. Making 4.5 next season. Splits for career show he's a solid #5/6 hitter(terrible cleanup) Not 1 career season 120ks+ So puts ball in play. Yelich/Hiura/Vogelbach will all likely then see time at DH. I dunno on RPs with Williams' emergence. Team added Rasmussen, Topa, and Feyereisen to their depth. One of Peralta/Houser will be there I expect. but maybe even Lindblom takes a seat back in RP. So not really a big thing I'd go out a grab. I'm sure there will be someone added. Kevin Pillar would have to be my OF utility I guess you target. Again there's a lot of payroll invested there, do you really add some 6-11mil contract there? Realmuto is going to be a big contract and well outside Stearn's payroll abilities. I don't really see a lot more attractive options. Profar seems redundant unless you rid yourself of Urias/Arcia during the offseason. I also gotta think Profar is in that A.Garcia type contract but higher. So, 11mil+ a year. He's a 2b spread out on the field, but no 3b/SS play since 2018 and gotta wonder where does he fit on the Brewers at 11+mil a year? Bauer-far too expensive. Think we're just skating by with a boring offseason. Aside from what the team gives on Extensions to Woodruff or Burnes. I'm really all-in on Cabrera being 1b for next season or 2 even. Just a not great but not bad bat.
  15. Asdrubal Cabrera started 23games at 1b for the Nationals this year. Is a Switch Hitter and bats in the .700s OPS basically his entire career. I'd expect he's a guy that could be had for 5-7.5 mil on a 1 or 2 year deal. 1b isn't exciting for FA and at a minimum you don't get a complete flop season on him. AmFam may bring back a 20+HR season and you aren't witnessing a 180+Ks.(119 career high) I guess this is meant as a plan. I'll keep it short and maybe half of a plan. I made a deal in the Hader Trade thread. We're keeping Gyorko to play 3b with Cabrera now at 1b. OF gotta remember Cain will return so you have your healthy payroll there with Yelich and Garcia. There's not much more at this point. I think with Narvaez you just gut it through with Pina still a reliable option. Hiura 2b. Urias/Arcia SS. Pitching is in healthy shape even with Hader's trade. The thought process here is an offseason and regular preseason(hopefully) leads to a better year with Urias and Narvaez. Hiura and Yelich have BAs 70-100pts higher. Lindblom and Lauer make adjustments that fill out the Rotation. Houser or Peralta step up to fill you 5th rotation spot with the other fitting a strong bullpen. Oh and obviously you find a new voice with a replacement Hitting Coach. Not a single offensive player on the team would you say exceeded expectations at the plate. And team pretty much all had a 25% or higher K rate.
  16. I'll look at above and say as a counter to White Sox and Twins to add the Cleveland Indians. #1 guy is 3b Nolan Jones who happens to be #38 in MLB's prospect rating. A guy that picking up Gyorko's option would project to be ready by September next season and of course the 6 seasons after. #4 is a Catcher named Bo Naylor 1st rd pick in 2018. Not in the top 100 but likely close. Had 10 triples in 2019 so not your typical catcher. He's probably 2 years away, which would fit a Narvaez departure. #6 is a SS named Gabriel Arias. Age 20 AA so you figure a 2 year window. One that fits an Arcia departure if he makes it that long. Arias was the #1 player acquired in the Clevinger trade with the Padres. Likely the guy the Indians see as who replaces Lindor with a season left. Indians do have a top 100 prospect SS Tyler Freeman but unlike Freeman, Arias has power in his bat and thus the target. I think Urias/Arcia may be giving the idea light hitting SS with D and upside are overrated. Arias in the underrated see! Why do the Indians do this trade? Hand/Lindor maybe Carlos Santana(Bobby Bradley 1b replace prospect top 100 formerly) are goners after next season. Indians have Jose Ramirez locked up through 2023 most likely the 3b for them. Jones is blocked then in that aspect, Indians don't miss a beat when Hand departs. Team still has SPs to remain relevant in the AL Central but their window offensively is closing. Brewers fill at minimum 2 MLB offense spots and Arias is at least a utility inf with power.
  17. Fire Haines Please! Taking Kershaw's meatball FBs and then getting schooled on the Breaking pitches. Great, Great, scouting report and strategy. Yeah Arcia was out on the 1st pitch but he put the ball in play and nearly to the warning track. Kershaw is just up there like this is so easy.
  18. Pretty sure Woody is complaining that for Kershaw that was called a strike 4 times when it was a ball. Another on 1st pitch to Garcia just in last inning.
  19. Well, now it's official, we lost the trade with Grisham for Urias. Both flopped at crucial moments in Playoff elimination. Just about as expected for 2020. Key players become hurt, couple dinks and poor fielding and heading to the offseason. Packers Draft Bucks Playoffs.
  20. 90mph right down the middle Taylor whiffs for K. Kershaw honestly putting 89-90 on a tee for the bad hitters and can't even put the ball in play. Ump by my count is +6 on calls for the Dodgers.
  21. From last IGT: Agree with all of this Can one wonder on Hader's usage on the fact he is a Super2? By making him the 9th inning save pitcher, he's no longer that 3IP unique RP that should get PAID. He's now your everyday vanilla closer. Predicting his future Arbs now has a history to base the increases on.
  22. FB memory for the day: Jim Henderson pitching the 9th for Brewers vs Cardinals. Allows 3 straight singles tooooo get to I believe Matt Adams. Who he strikes out. Im ahead by some amount in my fantasy baseball category head-head. All I needed to advance to the finals and a guaranteed $550+ was Adams to not get an ab. Or get a walk or hit if come to the plate. So in order to have lost as I did Henderson failed to get 1 out to 3 straight batters and then stuck Adams out in the final out for the matchup of games. I lost the BA category by literally .001. And chance to win over 1250. Plus guaranteed 550 plus Id have earned for 2nd. Fun times. Gotta go have a new tranny installed in my car. Nice Luck on this day.
  23. This guy is just horrible... We might be best off just keeping Nottingham and Pina next year to be honest. Would the Brewers be able to option him? He may be destined for a long AAA stretch to begin next season while Pina Nottingham duo start the season.
  24. New Year, 2nd year with MF coaching and Rodgers at MVP play game 1. Pack run away with this game 38-20.
