  1. I was kind of wondering that. Has he been sitting at 92-93 all season? Watching gameday. I recall 95s in recent Cub outings.
  2. I second this. While the 2007 season showed some glimmer of hope, the big trade deadline acquisition that season was Scott Linebrink, who, spoiler alert, did not prove to be the missing piece to put us over the edge. We always seemed to be taking the cautious approach to things. The acquisition of CC was so shocking because the Brewers of the past would never have made that move. in 2006 for thinking we could get Johan Santana. Then we actually went out and GOT a stud pitcher in CC Sabathia. And then he basically dragged us to the playoffs by himself. Truly incredible. Nice on the Youtube. Best part is bottom right is headline Wisconsin win Men's Hockey Championship.
  3. Is Lewis Brinson near the worst top 15 busts? He's in his 4 season of ABs in the Majors and become a pinch hitter essentially. Now in that 4 seasons of time he's finally accumulated a full season's worth of PAs and sits at .530 OPS and a value of Negative -3.4 BWAR In no way can you think the Brewers lost on this trade, and where in rankings all time should this trade be ranked? Better than the CC Sabathia trade?
  4. Ok. We'll try this. You're Stearns this offseason. Go: I hate the hate on an offseason or in your case the minors rankings, when that is all it is. Fill us with knowledge of the names not in the minors or on this roster that Stearns and co failed on. Because all you are doing is complaining with no logical counter what Stearns and co should have done so you wouldnt be complaining. Fix the minors over the past 2 seasons. Followed with fixing this past offseason. Go ahead surprise me with putting in the work. Im really interested in your fix of minors. The team has had 3 straight winning seasons drafting in the 20s. As for the depth of position players... 1. There wasn't a DH in the NL prior to opening day. DH meant playing an additional batter taking away from the platoon roster Stearns built. 2. Cain opted out. 3. Braun is raggedy old and misses to many games. 4. Justin Smoak a switch hitter and on a buy low year removed from b2b 800+OPS seasons is a perfect backup plan for Braun missed games. 5.Urias wasn't an opening day certainty. Arcia was "on watch" regarding his SS job. Sogard I guess was brought in to be depth. 6. The DH exists and so does playing Sogard it seems daily, vs the boot with a healthy Urias/Arcia combo. 7. 3b. Rendon signed elsewhere. Donaldson signed elsewhere. Gyorko signed. Former top 50-75 prospect. (You want a better minors ranking so hows that not translating?) Holt signed. It couldnt be worse than last season? Do think we missed here but thats 1 spot. 8. Catcher. They're poor hitters lower your expectations. Narvaez the last 2 seasons wouldn't be in that class. 9. Of. Yelich MVP. Cain. Garcia/Braun. Gamel. Mathias wasn't supposed to be needed this soon. Yelich not batting MVP thus far. Garcia (former top 80 prospect) positive trend in last three seasons, age 28 when signed(aka primed age stage) seems within a game or 2 from being what you'd expect. Gamel. 4th/5th OF. Not much to say supposed to be option 2 after Cain or last for Yeli, Garcia, Braun. DH/Cain/Braun hes played more than expected. 10. 2b. Hiura. (Top 20 prospect) still playing what would be his 1st ML season of games. So depth. Just not clicking yet. And CC isnt clicking yet with a set type of batting order. Something that with more games played may be figured out. Its not like its a returning lineup from last season. Urias if he'd see more gameplay could become the Leadoff hitter this team needs. Minors over .300BA & .397OB. That's TBD at what typically is the 10% point in to a season. Lighten up on the season expectations and results. September is where this team has been at under Counsell. Give it another 3 weeks.
  5. Hi. Welcome to being a Brewer fan. I estimate began 6months ago. Because if it were a year or more ago, you would have known guys like Hiura, Burnes, Peralta, Houser, Grisham gradiated from the minors not to long ago. Plus guys like Brinson, Harrison, Diaz, Yamamoto who play for the Marlins were used to acquire Yelich. There are probably a 10more who were used in trades that are or were used in the majors-Brett Phillips, Garrett Cooper, and Jorge Lopez quickly off top of my head for example. We used out finances to sign Yelich to an extension who is a STAR. But I guess if you are a Brewer fan of the past 6months you dont know Yelich as an MVP or shoe in MVP last season had injury not got in the way. I'm pretty sure I seen you post something negative towards that contract..so which is it? Sign Star Free agents? Or not shell out expensive high priced contracts to a Star player? Lorenzo Cain was an expensive contract for a FA signing. Youre upset that one of Grandal or Moose werent brought back on contract. Yet it was Stearns luring them to 1year deals to raise their FA earning potential and both got paid having done so. Yelich as an overall player is better than one of Grandal or Moose alone. The combined price for the two exceeds the Price Stearns paid for him. Is any of this helping paint the picture on this offseason? Urias was not projected to be healthy and ready to go by start of season. My guess to Sogard signing. Yes he signed a bunch of journeymen but they were to 1yr+option. You gotta look at the big picture plus the past transactions that led to a near WS and playoff team also last year. Calm down on the hate.
  6. Ha meanwhile their total wins goes in to factor their draft position, receive a top 5 pick since its 20wins(guess) I do have a solution and punishment for the covid teams forcing missed games. A- the games are called a tie 1/2 w, 1/2 L. This way all teams achieve 60games. B- teams that cause the postponed games, the players arent paid, and that team actually pays whatever the opponent's team players salaries would be for those games. IE- Cards players woulda earned say 700k per game vs Brewers. They recieve nothing. Meanwhile the Brewers team woulda earned 500k per game that now doesnt come from Mark A's pocket but Cardinals are now responsible for paying. See if players stay in their bubble now since 1 player affects the whole team.
  7. I think it will even out here when a guy lime Hader or Kneble is fljpped for a top half tier prospect. We spent our bullets in trades, and while Grisham is off to a start, remember we took Lauer&Urias. Urias to replace a woeful Arcia(former top 10 prospect) What Grisham may have the team simply replaced with Garcia's signing. Can you name the SS the Brewers passed on for the Arcia replacement at Garcia's type of contract? The gripe I had for the offseason was Josh Donaldson. A clear 3b beast. But I never imagined we were going to sign Yelich to the contract we did. I agree with a poster above, the scouting department is doing a better job. If we have Hiura and Mitchell in 2 drafts what more do you want? The picks are lower. Producing homegrown pitching talent seems easier since failed Starters can fill out a bullpen role and have high trade values, Thornburg for example. Whereas a failed position player just becomes a AAAA player as highest value. Again we've been in this winning cycle and have spent resources versus gained back to do so. How Stearns deals with Hader in trade or not future and the return he gets, well then I'd look where the team on field stands with how the minors talent stands.
  8. Wait we won this game? I figured we were losing 13- 2 or so. Gotta do better being a Brewerfan. Too many are brutal based on such a small sample.
  9. Paul Molitor and Carlos Gomez are the low hanging fruit. Corey Koskie That was my first thought post Molly and Hardy/Gomez. I havent read beyond page 1. Answers if I have any could be duplicates. Nope Im terrible at these things. I checked BRef and my thought on pitchers making a lot were pretty true. But I was surprised to see some names. I wont list names since I used BRef to go back 15+years. I kinda wondered on Kevin Seitzer but nope wrong. Tough two way question.
  10. Ha watched replay just now. I'd have to believe meant 510 for Yelich. That was way gone. May have been 410ft above Hiura's HR ball when it hit the CF wall vs that scoreboard.
  11. Villar, Aguilar, and Harrison with hits, Brinson with a walk, Yamamoto started, Kintzler with a save. Half their dang roster are former Brewers or farmhands. That's awesome. Maybe they'll change the name of that outfield nightclub at Marlins Park from The Clevelander to The Milwaukeean. Never understood why anyone in Miami would want to go to a club named after Cleveland in the first place. The Clevelander I remember on Ocean Dr Sobe was half hotel with a pool area to drink and party to. Had a stage to the pool so some live dj music but certainly not a club. Ocean Drive tourist attraction in prime location on South Beach.
  12. 2002 it became law in WI to move over for emergency vehicles and others in the shoulder. I know vividly because I was pulled over for not doing so my first day of work at my current job. My biggest pet peeve are Truckers who pass other Trucks in the passing lane at what seems to be 1mph faster than the Truck they are passing. Like it takes 3-5miles driving to pass the truck. Doing 61 in a 70mph zone because they couldn't sit behind a truck doing 60. Another pet peeve would be when drivers are coming to a full complete stop turning right in a right turn laned 4way stop sign, while no one is to their left. Meanwhile Im at the opposite turning left waiting for them to turn right. And worse they wave me to go because I was there first. Happens all the time for me coming home from work. Stop sign etiquette altogether. Turn signal left and the person across going straight waiting for me to go. Or the opposite, going straight and the person turning left trying to turn first.
  13. Kevin Pillar stat-wise appears a worse version of Gamel. JBJ appears a good target, but he's repped by Boras, and that tells me a QO certainty. That or the trade offer is better than a QO compensation. So nix that idea.
  14. I am interested to see if they insert a cutoff for minimum number of games a team needs to play in order to make the playoffs. If the Marlins never played another game during the regular season they would be a playoff team due to their current .667 winning percentage. The Orioles are 5-3, if they have to miss a chunk of the season it isn't inconceivable they could sneak into the 16-team field (okay, it's the Orioles and it probably is actually inconceivable). I can't wait until the 26-22 Cardinals win the NL Central over the 32-28 Brewers and Cubs because of their better winning percentage. Well technically the Brewers cant finish 32-28 missing that Cardinal series. Unless of course they made up the games.
  15. Beat up on the AL Central. Except we play 13 games against good-to-great AL Central teams and only 7 against the bad ones. Or just the fact having the AL East and West beat up on the NL teams. They all can beat up on 3 teams, top 2 getting in. Dodgers should also run away with the west. I find it hard to see a 3rd team above .500 unless 2 teams (SF/AZ) flat out tank.
  16. Do the Brewers even have a good Changeup guy among their pitchers? My guess is they don't and it was their first go in several months seeing that pitch.
  17. Brewers 38-22 Cardinals 34-26 Cubs 34-26 Reds 33-27 Pirates 21-39 Im predicting the NL Central destroys the AL Central, Destroys the Pirates and 4 teams make the Playoffs. And for good measure the Cards/Cubs get to play an extra game to determine who is #2 in division and who is the 1st. Wild card. Just throw a wrench in to this whole 16team playoff idea during a shortened season. Maybe I should add a win to the top 4 so noone rebuffs with 33wins too low for an 8th place team this year.
  18. Pretty watered down. This essentially stops a team like the Dodgers to flub out of the playoffs in 60games. So MLB will get the teams they want in the playoffs. One aside, which division in AL and NL do you see as the worst division? NL West? AL Central or East? Say it is the AL Central, you could watch 4 teams from NL central make playoffs. And 4 from AL West make the playoffs. I'd love to see this happen and all 4 teams wind up in the division championship. Take a Cincy over LA, Cubs over Nats, Brewers over Mets, and Cardinals over Rockies. Something where the seeding works out perfectly that not 1 of the 4 face eachother in the playoffs.
  19. Well, for what it's worth, I think Claudio was the mvp of the game the game prior looking at the pitching stats. Williams must have left him with the bases loaded and 1out in the 7th with a 3-2 lead and got them out of that inning. Looking at the hitting stats. lots of 6th/7th but only 11th in runs scored. Pitching stats, my word, the team based on 11th in runs scored and 14th in SP ERA. You have to hope the simulation takes on an epic run in late August and for September as what they are waiting on. This sim really punishing the Brewers.
  20. Wow. That's formerly 9th round value. Pick 280 last year. He was projected ranked much higher than 280. At 150 that was a signing bonus of 350k last year. Should have at least walked away with half slot value-237k. Sad for the kid.
  21. Interesting take. My vision for the offense probably sees Sternberger being highlighted a lot like George Kittle is for SF. Fungess is an upgrade over Allison for sure on last season, and if he gets the confidence from Rodgers I really like the offense's upgrades over last year's. They still could have added a big time WR in the draft vs Love and 4th round pick. The belief that Wagner and Turner are better run blockers to pair with Bact and Jenkins with the added Deguara pick, I envision wearing down defenses with Lafleur's style. Sternberger/Lazard/Jones being 3rd down and distance possession targets. Adams/Funchess as the deeper threats. The biggest hype I have is Jenkins in his 2nd year. He was a beast for the team as a rookie, and for me, I gotta wonder if he's the best OL potentially since I followed the Packers beginning in 1989. I seriously don't remember a guy who got down in the 2nd level run blocking like he was continually doing in games last year. An offseason for Bact to maybe work a little on his run blocking(now knowing the talent next to him to do so) and running game towards the left side can be such a huge weapon. Also, maybe the tandem will lead to more designed rollout plays to that side.
  22. Gotta figure you carry 3 catchers. I imagine you don't want an injury to occur and bringing in somebody who hasn't played a game in long while. Urias/Sogard/Holt to mix around 2b/SS/3b with whomever they are calling on for starting. If we're using the DH for Braun you would have to have a 5th OF beyond just Gamel. Taylor got in a few games last season. I'd imagine he'd be first ahead of Ray. Then you have to go with how does the 1b/3b work out? Gyorko is your #1 3b. Holt has over 120 games at 3b, Sogard only has 38 in his career. So Healy or Morrison? I'd think Healy wins out over Morrison. Maybe they carry both and ditch Arcia in the end when it narrows all the way down. That or you're playing Holt as a starter more games than one think he would.
  23. Ooof. That is awful and sad.
  24. Chris lee looked like the most consistent RP, certainly deserves a spot more than Williams. Wow on that move.
