  1. Yep, I'm for robo umps seeing this: https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/split.cgi?t=p&lg=MLB&year=2020 Check out the Ball-Strike count stats. A batter facing a 3-1 count vs a 2-2 count has an OPS difference of a full 1OPS. Literally a bad call on a 2-1 pitch is a difference of being on 1b vs not statistically speaking. Seen a 2018 report that umps avg 1.6 bad calls per inning. Though I did read the bad call rate had reduced by over 10% in ten year span it covered. Essentially 37% to 22% I don't know where to find the stat on that 2-1 bad calls how many each way. Just alarming how big an impact on that pitch count a bad call makes.
  2. "To move forward." Almost read that as the path of what moves they can or must make is clearer. Like cut this guy, trade(can they sign and trade while going over the cap leading up to the draft?) that guy, resign that guy, and restructure this guy's contract.
  3. Adams has 1 yr left in 2021. What is GB going to put on the field in 2022 for WR? Gutekunst must have some plan in mind to move Rodgers before 2022 starts because missing out on the WR class this draft he's setting up for Malik Taylor to be our #1 in 2022 not being able to pay Adams. Edit wow so essentially there isn't 1 WR signed beyond next year. This game just got MVS a 4yr contract at 8-10 per to fix that.
  4. Watched the highlights of the Cardinal game to see the Hail Mary... Boy Kyler Murray would run for 200yards vs GB the way defense plays. Want nothing of that team in the playoffs, unless Murray were injured.
  5. It was almost like the Jags O-line decided a top 5 draft pick was better than trying to win the game. That was atrocious the last 4 plays. Pack got beat up front today, I don't recall a wow moment by Jenkins today so I wonder if he's playing at 100%. I think it's clearly obvious the defense needs a true DE just base how those last 4 plays went. Pettine's 3-4 style and bigger bodied DEs that don't put pressure on the QB needs to go, or find one. Wind is a deterrent for the Packers, 2nd game with it this season team has struggled more than opponents did. Very fortunate to win this game, zebras were on our side, weird saying that.
  6. Wait, he bets $99K to win $9K? Wouldn't that be a $90K loss? I honestly think he just wins 9k keeping his 99k If they lost 99k lost. Plus juice I imagine.
  7. Florida is this years California of last year.
  8. Gotta bring some blitz pressure. LBs arent getting it done. CB or S
  9. That would have been a walk in TD pass by 75% of QBs. Dodged one embarrassingly so.
  10. Gotta believe moves towards any FA signing will involve a 3mil price tag, until it is know fans will attend games in 2021 or when spring training has already begun. Numbers are worse now than the original shutdown. Small market gonna small market.
  11. Lto.Longoria's contract is much like Braun and maybe Yelich. Folklore type of player, made Franchise player in contract. #3 pick and had enough talent and memorable hits to fit the bad contract extensions profile. I don't doubt any bit that Tampa signed knowing they were trading him. Ideally like we believed for Braun and now Yelich a value that would still likely return a top tier prospect when doing so. Anyway, I'm a fan of Cain, keep him through contract. It's Garcia who needs to go.
  12. BRef keeps track of a lot of baserunning minutiae, though only so much can be gleaned from the raw totals without additional context... https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2020-baserunning-batting.shtml In the shortened season, we made the fewest outs on the bases (7), with only three coming at home plate, 6th fewest. Sound pretty good, right? Stealing bases, our 58% SB success rate was the worst in MLB. We took an extra base 35% of the time, 5th lowest. We grounded into 53 double plays, thee most. Add it all up & Fangraphs had us dead last on the bases at -17.6 runs, next worst was the Mets at -11.1, that's a pretty massive gap for 60 games. BRef had it a little closer at -13 to -12, but 3rd worst was up at -6 so again a sizable gap. Would not be surprised at all if our acquisitions this offseason are geared towards guys who can contribute positive value on the bases. A lot of that low outs on the bases is simply the poor batting. 26th-21st-23rd team ranks for BA, OB, OPS. DPs and SB% also contribute to how putrid the team was offensively. (And why everyone hated watching this year's team play) That all said, gotta believe why Sedar left us like he didnt windmill this year is full lack of times to.
  13. Would you trade a 2nd for an 8 game rental? Yes, especially given our recent history of second round busts. Madness. Watching vs Tampa and vs Minnesota, not having a clue for run defense 8game rental on the opposite side of the field? Madness. Besides, Gutey needs that pick so it's available to use if he can trade up in the 1st round. Spying a disappointing 1st rd look, He'll draft one of TCU's Safeties, just because Amos.
  14. The Brewer infield is already one of the worst defensive infields in the majors. Why would they make it worse? Why not just get a 1B and leave Yelich alone. I'm not even sure Yelich would have that bumpy road at 1b, I just suggested the thought to not blatantly say He'll be good there from day 1. This is 1b we're talking about. What concern would you have on Yelich fielding 1b? He's 6'3" unlike the Hiura idea who is 5'11". In the era of 3TO I dunno what fear on Yelich would be defensively at 1b? This isn't 3b where he has to throw across the diamond, just gotta catch the ball when thrown to.
  15. https://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=121086 I've mentioned this in past. Yelich had a profile as a 1b leading up to the draft. It may be bumpy initially at 1b, but he'll probably turn in to a good one defensively.
  16. We don't need a DH, we need a 1B. If the NL gets the DH, we have Hiura and possibly Braun to cover. We desperately need a 1B and a 3B. I was inferring to the Pirates extending and keeping him. They can use his bat at DH making him more valuable.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/10/pirates-to-explore-josh-bell-extension.html Extend and trade? Think he fits Pittsburgh price range well and a 4year ext with 2 option years sounds about right. For his production, he's within his prime, and most certainly capable to have big productive seasons. Add the DH to NL and his negative defense is neutralized. You will need to blow them away if extending is on the table.
  18. Weird post. He's had a good game. He's saying Gary is a huge bust because he still doesn't like the pick, and wants to feel justified in not liking it. There are a lot of fans who agree, and IMO, that opinion is pretty insufferable. Gary was out of position a few times, but he also made several key plays in the game, and was around the QB quite a bit. Also had several nice hustle plays. Not sure where people are getting that he didn't play well last night. Oh I wish I had a teleprompter and game replay to do an ICYM on Gary. He did make a great hustle play(finally) late in the game on that 3rd on goal that left SF with 4th and goal. And I recall 2 bull rushes(his one and only move) around the outside that he at least got a hand on the QB but both times other Packer defenders made a QB hit/sack. I dunno if that one late hustle play was the result of a coach yelling at him how he lacked any hustle/heart and costing this defense yards that finally he hustled to make a tackle. But who knows, watching him he may not have been in normal on the line bull rush mode and had no contact so he was free to roam/run and made the play. Also facing a JV team a real NFL QB wouldn't have been in the pocket or held on to the ball as long as Mullen did for Gary to even have his 2 passing chances at a QB sack/hurry where it was just a flailing hand touching him. 24 games in to his career now there hasn't been a wow play I can think of.
  19. That's fine and agreed on usage. He appears better is the statement and this era of football, he wouldn't accrue the opportunities Green could. Last season wasn't a blip or fluke, Jones is a legit top RB in the NFL.
  20. Pump the brakes there, recency bias. Green was a near-2000 yard rusher, a legit passing option, and could take a broken play 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage and break a 20-yard run. He could also carry 3 guys on his back. Very different runners, and Jones is a really good player, but don't think he's on the level Green was, at least not in 2003. That near 2000 yard season was Green's 5th on 355 carries. Jones is currently on season 4 and has a career total of 525 carries coming in to this game. It's an eye test opinion, Jones can block, run, and route run and catch. I think he could surpass Green if given an equal number of opportunities in a healthy 16game played season...I'll go 15 because Green had his respiratory issues.
  21. Mullens at QB reminds when a position player pitches an inning or 2 to save the bullpen. Incredibly lucky to face a talent-less QB. Savage dropped the easiest interception he'll see maybe his entire career. Rashan Gary remember him? has no heart or hustle, that drive SF actually had shown at least 3 times he flat out put it in neutral when any hustle he could have made a play. I am not sure he will make it 4 years as a Packer, they'll cut him or trade him what a mistake. Jones is an epic RB. Ahman Green since 1990 is my favorite GB RB all-time, Jones appears better. This is one of those games that makes you think the team is good and Super Bowl caliber, but the defense is laughable. 1st 2! plays on D after TD and Gary is exposed on missed tackle.
  22. I'll break my silence to pose this. Who does GB miss more Khrs Barnes or Rashaan Gary when not on the field? Defense gains Nothing with Gary on the field. Mark it down worst pick for 2019. Heck even Kamal Martin made at least a couple plays yesterday. Has the deadline passed? Trade off Gary now before you waive him before 2022 season. Get something for that atrocious mistake of a 12th pick. Justin Harrell part 2.
  23. You're Right. Bye
  24. This above. Aguilar close to his normal range in 2020. Shaw better. Cain had bad year. Now Hiura, Yelich, Narvaez, Garcia, Smoak garbage seasons vs norm expectations. Look, y'all can say how much do you think a hitting coach really matters, I think it's an a game plan on what a Starter will throw on sequencing. How many times did we watch pitches right down the middle be taken for strike? Then swing at garbage? That to me is Haines saying on 1-1 he's going to throw a breaking ball in the dirt, anything belt high take because its going to fall out of the strike zone. Maybe that can explain Hiura swinging through FBs down middle plate because the "Haines magic Scouting Report" says this situation a pitch is going to break. Let's talk about the pathetic 3b or 2b with 0 outs. There are guys clearly struggling and not once can he call for the bunt to move a player over, or even suicide squeeze. Just think it's time to move on after such a poor showing among many statistics a team can have. If it cant all be blamed on Haines cuz he does nothing impactful really for hitting then, replacing him isnt a loss. Just bring the next placeholder who does nothing if that is true. You can always use an excuse that a slump is the adjusting on hitting philosophy that guy brings. Heck give the job to Braun while picking up his option. Interim title with the open search for 2022.
  25. I agree. I imagine even just the posting fee takes the Brewers out the picture. No fans this year, no guarantee on season this year, financial nightmare. I would expect 15mil in total given out to contracts for Milwaukee. The way they spend more is finding a team that wants Cain or Garcia without parting with money in trade. Book it Seong-Kim will go to the Angels.
