The deferral helps obviously, but it more or less is deferring money to other players that has already been deferred. Obviously we have a buyout for Braun, but we probably have other money going to players not playing for us this year. I really have a hard time believing we are going to add much more payroll. I know we have a glaring hole at 3b but I kinda think they are just gonna roll Urias there, deal with the lackluster offense at the spot, and have plus defense at all 3 key infield spots. Then cross your fingers and hope accruate throws make Hiura's life real easy at 1b. Idk then why the big interest in Turner?

We just might be making a big run at Turner... Per Morosi: Kolten Wong’s 2-year, $18 million deal with Milwaukee includes a $1MM signing bonus and $7MM salary this year, of which $5MM is deferred to 2023 and 2024, source says. The deferment could allow the #Brewers to add an additional player for 2021.

I would also add Asdrubal Cabrera.... If we arent gonna land Turner we need a lefty to platoon with Robertson.

Don't even throw that out there!!!!!!!! Haha Just a suggestion ... it might be a good idea to temper your enthusiasm a bit. Get too worked up, and it's easier to implode if/when it doesn't happen. I'm kinda looking at it that if it happens, great ... happy surprise. If it doesn't, oh well, it was a longshot anyway. Oh I know, I'm almost 99% sure Turner won't be a Brewer but OMG the thought of it... EXACTLY what we need.

Alright, Stearns confirmed that Keston will be manning 1B... Now go get Turner to play 3B! Also, I guess the Mets gave Bauer Noon ET deadline on the deal... Hopefully he says no to Mets and the Dodgers sign him and then we sign Turner!

I dont think there's a chance we get him at 2 yrs. If Dodgers sign Bauer, Mets will scoop up Turner.

I'm gonna say we find the cash again and offer 3 yrs, $40 mil and possibly an option for a 4th year.

I can totally see that.... Otherwise I think they would have resigned Turner a long time ago.

Alright my final additions... Still holding out hope for Turner but if we dont land him, I would love Asdrubal Cabrera at 3B. And pitching side, add Rich Hill to rotation and possibly a vet like Clippard or Phelps type to bullpen. Add those guys and definitely ready to battle with Cardinals.

Honestly can't see Bauer anywhere but the Mets... Angels arent signing him, Jays are done making big moves, Dodgers dont like to go over 3 years on pitchers.

Or we could just keep Urias there and save the million dollars. I would be surprised if Wong is anything but our second baseman. Barring further moves, I think Urias is the guy who will be all over the infield, getting starts almost every day, but that time will be split between 2B, 3B and SS. He makes a great platoon partner with Wong at second, and can play SS or 3B on the days we're facing a righty. I would much rather add a lefty bat at 3B, Urias would play 2B against lefties, which he kills.

Would love one in this order: Paxton Walker - - Hill I doubt you are getting Walker that "cheap" though. I doubt we end up with any of the three... Paxton and Walker will be too expensive for us... Hill said he wants to play for a winner and close to home. If anything we'll end up with Folty, Leake or Porcello type... Maybe... Maybe we dont add another starter.

As most of us here can painfully attest, be very wary of random people online that claim to have inside info, as it's completely unverifiable and usually 100% garbage. Yep agreed, see what happens. -

If Hill doesnt want to come here I would love to add Taijuan Walker as our #3. He could be had on a cheap 1 yr deal... Although he was really good last year so his price may have went up. And Im sure Paxton is out of our price range as well. But would LOVE to add one of Hill, Paxton, Walker! Bet none of them sign here tho.
