  1. Wow, I would love Rich Hill... If he can stay healthy. Woodruff Burnes Hill Houser Lindblom I really, really, really, really like that rotation.
  2. Correct, Spring training starts in two weeks and regular season starts on 4/1. It's a negotiation where the first offer was rejected; I don't recall hearing the owners say they were giving up. Only that the player's union rejected the first offer and stated they will continue to prepare for the beginning of the season as scheduled, which is nothing more than what you'd expect them to say to keep their leverage. With the patchwork regulations across the country re: in-person gatherings I'm sure it is somewhat important to the owners to mitigate the anticipated loss of playing with no paying fans or far fewer fans than are typical. With the acrimony of last season, it is probably good for both sides to work something out so they have at least some common ground as the current labor agreement expires later this year. Owners would be wasting their time with more proposals, MLBPA will just keep rejecting. And see the post above.
  3. Correct, Spring training starts in two weeks and regular season starts on 4/1.
  4. Why wouldn't we have baseball this summer? They proved last year they could play through a pandemic.
  5. The pandemic is still going on. There's no guarantee fans are even going to be able to get into the stadium for awhile. I don't think anyone is "making up" anything. The Brewers are far from the only MLB team that has failed to attack the off-season. Attack the off-season and filling the roster are two completely different things. They haven’t done anything other than Robertson. Nothing. I’m not asking for an attack... just some justifiable roster moves that will improve our offense. We finally have a pitching rotation that doesn’t cost jack squat. We are going to waste this opportunity by sending out an offenn N se that will have a hard time averaging 3.25 runs per game. Get ready for a lot of 4-2, 3-0 ballgames. Yea its too bad were gonna waste this pitching staff, all we need is 1B and 3B and we can absolutely complete in the NL.
  6. Going off of Stearns latest words, were gonna be waiting awhile... If they even sign anyone meaningful.
  7. No its not, MLBPA rejected the deal. ST starts in 2 weeks, season start on April 1st.
  8. Why the 4th outfielder when we still have no legit 1B? Because I'm hopeful we'll add a legit 1B, plenty out there yet.... But I guess we need to be even more patience according to Stearns. C.J. Cron Mitch Moreland Jake Lamb Edwin Encarnacion Todd Frazier Jedd Gyorko (Would rather him at 3B tho)
  9. I don't see why McKinney won't become our 4th OF, lefty bat off the bench... He easily slides into Gamel's role. McKinney doesn't have any options left, while Ty Taylor has one left.
  10. It's a longshot flyer. Absolutely no one is expecting him to be #3 in the 2021 rotation. I know just sick of these minor league deals and yes I know they need to made for depth reasons but come on Stearns, WE HAVE GLARING HOLES AT 3B AND 1B!!
  11. Oh the radar gun guy, lovely.
  12. Well they just signed Nathan Patterson to a minor league contract. That's a cheap pitcher. Who the hell is Nathan Patterson? I've never heard of this guy.
  13. Sounds like Marwin is close to signing... Red Sox were mentioned.
  14. No certainly not yet but my fear is if Stearns waits too long looking for the perfect deal for these free agents, we’re going to end up with some really subpar signings. Yep if he's true to his word above, all the legit players to improve this team will be gone. Can't wait to see us sign more middle infielders to minor league deals, [sarcasm]because that's where the big holes on our team are.[/sarcasm]
  15. Alright I'm gonna forget about Turner since that likely isnt happening... Give me Moreland and Gyorko, maybe add someone like Mike Leake or Rick Porcello, if not I'm good with Lauer still in the rotation. Cain Yelich Hiura Moreland Gyorko Garcia Narvaez Urias Woodruff Burnes Houser Lindblom FA or Lauer Make the additions above, rebounds from Yelich, Hiura (neither are as bad as we saw in 2020) and the bullpen we have... We can definitely complete with the Cards, Cubs for division title!
  16. They didn't non-tender Gyorko, they just didn't exercise the team option on his contract. Judging by the lack of activity on him, I doubt many teams are beating down the door to sign him, despite his solid showing with the Brewers last year. I imagine that he's still under consideration for the Brewers. Oh ok thanks, I must have been thinking of someone else.
  17. If Gyorko is mad that we non-tendered him, then I'll gladly take Asdrubal Cabrera to play 3B, switch hitter so he can play everyday... Move Cabrera to 1B against lefty and Robertson can play 3B.
  18. We need another lefty power bat in our lineup... Mitch Moreland would do well at the AmFam Clam, he at least gets on base at a good clip. Add Moreland to play 1B and Gyorko to play 3B, be done with it and hope the guys who struggled in 2020 but suck in 2021... Since I doubt we have the money for Turner.
  19. At least they made moves to improve the team... Cant control what happens during the season, thats the great thing about baseball.
  20. If we plan to do that, then just tell the fan base that is the deal... I think this team could be close to something special, but no 1B and no 3B 3 weeks away from spring traing is maddening. I don't view this team as it sits to be in teardown mode, but if that is what they are thinking, then just freaking do it already. Yelich would be wasted in that scenario, so maybe the smart thing to do is dump him too... I have never been on board with this line of thinking, but geez. Everything is contingent upon value. If the value is there (a la the Moose and Grandal signings a couple years ago) then I think Stearns and Attanasio will spend the money to "go for it." However, they aren't going to just say up front "We are going to spend, spend, spend no matter what." Similarly, if the value ISN'T there, I think they are comfortable saving their money for better deals next year--or adding contracts at the trade deadline that might become available. Similarly, maybe they will "tear it down" if they get blown away by an offer for Woodruff/Hiura/etc. But they aren't actively shopping those guys. This has been Stearns' MO the whole time. Spend money if the value is there and it makes sense, but don't spend recklessly (Turner is not getting a 3+ year contract). You’re sure of that on Turner huh? Idk about that.
  21. Yep we’re sinking quickly to 4th in the division... So disappointing DS and MA are scared to pull the trigger on anything meaningful... Give Turner that 3rd year, he’ll be worth it.
  22. Where are you seeing that JRam is being shopped??? In dealing away Lindor & Carrasco the Tribe saved roughly $30M in 2021 salary. In the past week the Tribe has signed Cesar Hernandez & Eddie Rosario to short term deals, cost @$13M of that savings for 2021. Those are moves to remain competitive now (with the young & affordable pitching), not teardown & rebuild. Why spend that money if they are still looking to sell off pieces and reduce cost further??? Ron R/ baumer16 are correct: IF JRam was being shopped the cost in trade assets would be huge. Start with Hiura. Add in Devin Williams & Garret Mitchell. Cleveland might add in Adam Plutko (or whomever is being removed from the 40 man for space). I dont believe MKE should make that trade (& I wouldnt blame them). CLE wont deal JRam for less than Fort Know at this point (& again, I wouldnt blame them). On twitter.
  23. Don't get your hopes up. He'd cost a mint. In fact, you might have to give up Hiura for him, along with Hader or Burnes/Woodruff. Ramirez is a stud, and the Brewers don't have near the prospects to pull off that type of deal without pulling from the major league club. Think so even if we take on his entire contract? Isnt it like 3 yrs, $30 some mil? Maybe Im way wrong.
  24. I guess Indians are shopping Jose Ramirez. Acquire him and Ill take back everything Ive said this offseason... Absolute great fit on this team! Yelich, Ramirez, Hiura... OMG.
  25. Man, I wanted us to take a flier on Williams.
