  1. Was it the players and their entourages or was it the "fans" who traveled to Vegas en masse who, in Jason Whitlock's words, (link) have "...transformed the league's midseason exhibition into the new millennium Freaknik, an out-of-control street party that features gunplay, violence, non-stop weed smoke and general mayhem..."? Hosting the All Star Game and bringing a team to Vegas are two very different things.
  2. Anyone have Hughes and Santo on? I think Ron blew out his microphone screaming into it. Rediculous.
  3. HUNT: Yi can bring Bucks back around "So how do you say "holdout" in Chinese? Forget that. This wasn't a good pick. It was a great pick. Good for the Milwaukee Bucks for calling whatever bluff Yi Jianlian's people may or may not have issued. That's taking it strong to the hole, taking the absolute best player available, not looking back and making the bold move that this franchise needed in the 2007 NBA draft..."
  4. Good article on OMC today about Summerfest- This sucks: Summerfest can never please "armchair" booking agents
  5. The McMahons have one thing in common with real sports: they've looked the other way while they made a lot of money on the backs of steroid-popping athletes Well, Vince is dead now so I guess he got his in the end.
  6. I thought most of the episodes were pretty funny. I think my favorite was the "Underage Drinking" one where they lowered the drinking age at the pub and they were all hanging out with high schoolers.
  7. I can't tolerate dial up speeds anymore (college will spoil you on that these days) The thought of possibly injuring my fist by smashing it through the monitor because a web page of text takes five minutes to load is enough to spoil me.
  8. I thought the show was pretty hilarious. That episode with the naked lady pen last season cracked me up.
  9. Eric had a "Bayside Tigers" shirt on. Probably to show his support for the big wrestling match against Valley.
  10. Yeah, there's gonna be some sticker shock among people who bought $4 seats in the Terrace during the regular season. For some idea, here's a story from 2006 with price ranges for the playoffs & World Series- LINK ...Be prepared to pay if your team makes it to the World Series. The price of regular box seats will be $250, according to notices some teams have started sending to their season ticket holders. That's up from $185 last year, a 35 percent hike that is the steepest in nearly a decade, since Major League Baseball doubled the price from $75 to $150 in 1998. The cost rose to $160 in 2000, $175 in 2001 and $185 in 2004, where it stayed last year... ...Baseball's ticket-price range for the Series will start at a low of $75, a $10 increase from last year... ...In the first two rounds of the baseball playoffs, there will be slight increases. For the league championship series, the suggested range given to teams by the commissioner's office is $50-$95, up from $50-90 last year. For the division series, the range is $20-$55, up from $20-$50 last season...
  11. STORY LINK Check out "Part I" of the video here- VIDEO LINK Seems to me like sheer idiocy to pull such a thing with all those people lining the road. SELMER, Tennessee (AP) -- Three more people have died after a drag-racing car went out of control and careened into a crowd of spectators, raising the death toll to seven, state officials said Sunday. The crash occurred Saturday night during an "exhibition burnout" -- when a driver spins his tires to make them heat up and smoke -- at the Cars for Kids charity event in Selmer, located about 80 miles east of Memphis...
  12. I used to do internet support for a cable provider and you can get internet only put they usually jack the price for it by about $10-15 a month for not having cable. Similar to the phone company (AT&T). You can get a DSL "dry loop" without landline phone service but you end up paying between 40-50 bucks a month so it's pretty much a wash.
  13. I'm selling the PS2 copy of GH2 and guitar controller if anyone is interested. How much are you looking to get Sepolevne?
  14. LINK Drunk Guy Knows All The Lyrics To This Song ATHENS, OH?Keith Bonifer, 34, a regular and frequently intoxicated patron of Araby's Pub, impressed fellow customers Tuesday by accurately singing along to every word of "Save Your Love," Great White's epic 1987 power ballad. "He knew the whole thing, even after five boilermakers," bartender Bill Riggs said of Bonifer's flawless 5-minute, 46-second performance, during which he reportedly demonstrated admirable restraint by not staggering around the bar to get other patrons to sing with him. "He even knew the part where it goes 'so lock the door and throw away the key,' which I always thought was 'so rock me more and throw away the key.' Makes a lot more sense, actually." Due to the way Bonifer moved his hands during the solo, bar patrons speculated that he might also be adept at playing the song on guitar.
  15. This would kick ass. I'd love to go. I'm surprised at how many of the original members are still with these bands. Or maybe not, since they probably figured the only way to make any money was to put aside their differences and hit the road. Four of the bands do have different lead singers than they did back in the day- Skid Row, Warrant, Britny Fox, & Faster Pussycat. Poison, Winger, Great White & Twisted Sister are all back with their "classic lineup."
  16. I had no idea such a thing existed. Thoughts? Horse slaughterhouse fights to stay open DEKALB, Ill. - This agricultural town is nicknamed Barb City because the spiky wire was perfected here. But the mayor receives postcards from animal activists saying it should be called the city of barbarians. DeKalb is home to the last remaining plant in the United States where horses are slaughtered for human consumption. Except for a portion sold to U.S. zoos, the horse meat is shipped to be eaten by diners overseas. The state banned such slaughters last month, and a federal judge could rule as soon as Thursday whether Cavel International Inc. can stay open while it appeals. A temporary order allowing it to operate expires after Thursday... LINK
  17. Rage who? Anyone up for a road trip in July? Rocklahoma
  18. Steve Busby in '74 for the Royals. And Erickson in '94 for the Twins. Ryan got his 300th win in Milwaukee but never no hit them.
  19. Krakauer's books (I've only read this one) are extremely popular and widely read. I wasn't a huge fan of Into the Wild or Into Thin Air, however I thought Under the Banner of Heaven by Krakauer was excellent. It's an astonishing story about the history of the Mormon church interwoven with a story of murder by Mormon fundamentalists.
  20. I started The Remains of the Day and I can tell I'm really going to like it. After you're done with the book rent the movie. It's also phenomenal. It might be Anthony Hopkins' finest hour.
  21. I wonder what the NHL can do to get more people to watch it on TV. The first game of this year's finals on NBC ? Game 3 last Saturday ? got only a 1.1 national rating with an average viewing audience of 1.6 million. According to Sports Business Daily, that resulted in NBC's lowest-rated night in its history. A movie on the Sci-Fi Channel, "Meltdown: Days Destruct," got a 1.2 rating. NBC's previous combined prime-time low was a 1.3 on July 23, 2005, when a repeat of "West Wing" got only a 1.1. The first two games of the finals were televised by Versus, and its lack of distribution no doubt hurt the NBC telecasts. Game 1 on Versus got a 0.5 national rating with an average audience of 769,000 and Game 2 a 0.4 with 576,000 viewers. Game 1 ranked 58th among all programs that night and Game 2 ranked 78th. Among the programs beating Game 1 was the Food Network's "Build a Better Burger," which attracted 807,000 viewers. LINK
  22. That is a great deal. Aside from the questionable product on the floor, the Bucks treat their season ticketholders very well. And not just the full season big wigs either. Even if you're a partial season ticketholder you get lots of free stuff, a generous ticket bank, and parties with food and drink and guest speakers. Last season I didn't even have a ticket package and my ticket guy that I'd worked with in the past sent me free lower level tickets to two games.
  23. Nice job. Oh, if I could do it all over again...
