Obscure statistic of the day: in 2017 Luis had 5 hits- one double and four triples.

Kind of wish Susac was still around to see what he could have done.

If the man keeps hitting walk offs, his approval rating will skyrocket.

I have not read the whole thread so I am sorry of some mentioned this but does any one think the player to be named later has to do with the Rule V draft. Essentially we take someone from the Red Sox and if we like them they are the player to be named later and we can put them down or if they look at that person and decide this is not what they were looking for that we get the whole fee back instead of half of it.

    1) Grow the farm system. 2) Scout international countries more 3) Look at management throughout the system 4) Hire a sabermetrics department or if they have one to utilize it more 5) Upgrade the bench

How about Aubrey Huff on a minor league contract?

I was crusing my Bill James handbook. Just some names that I want to throw out. Tyler Colvin, poor year last year but has had some good years. Should be cheap, and can plat more than one position. Daniel Nava, seems to get on base, had a good year last year, can play the outfield too. Brett Wallace, down year, but power went up,dont think he is in the Astros plans Scott VanSlyke, I always like him, not sure how much of the Dodgers plans he is in.

Let me say I kind of like the idea of Loney. I dont like the idea of a 3 year27 million contract. I like the idea of a good defensive /average hitting firstbasman. This team seems to hit up and down the order,we can afford to give an average hitter a chance as long as we have no injuries. Second option, put a firstbaseman glove on Jason Kubel and give him an incentive laiden contract

Granted I know nothing about Lalli's defense but I wondered why he was not given a better shot at backup catcher last year.

From what I have read he only has 2 pitches that he mainly uses and does not have a very decent changeup. I would assume that is why most look at him as a reliever. Like I said I think he will get every opotunity to start because he is a lefty.

I like Aoki better than a lot of people on this board. I think he is very underated. That being said Doug Melvin did exactly what aa small market team is suppose to do. He traded a player on the wrong side of 30 who could leave via free agency for a young cheap player with upside while filling in the gap (Aoki) from within the system who is also young and cheap. Time will tell but I give Melvin kudos on this one. Correct me if I am wrong, Do the Brewers have left handed starter or one that is close? If not I think Smith will get a pretty decent look at starting,, but I do agree he is bettet suited for the bullpen.

Major League was a movie I loved when it came out(but I was in my late teens so what did I know). I bought it out of the five dollar bin at Walmart, came home popped it in the DVD player and was really disappointed. Not sure what I saw in it. Felt the same about the Natural. Rookie of the year was always a favorite of mine. The Rookie was ok but not a big fan of Dennis Quaid Did not like Field of Dreams as a kid but it grew on me later in life. No love for Mr 3000 I enjoyed Moneyball but did not like Brad Pitt as Billy Beane or the guy who played Art Howe

How bad is it when they are looking at Yuni and Izturis

    Free Sean Halton
  18. Rock hard Brouhard
Why does this guy not get a chance? I know he is not going to be a world beater but cmon he has to be better than Mallallitenlez. I m all for giving Parker a shot at third too
  19. Rock hard Brouhard
I will admit I thought about an extension as well, but this is a guy who may not stick at shortstop, I would wait.

Looks like Nieman is out the season, the injury bug hits even the people we wanted to be Brewers
  21. Rock hard Brouhard
If we are going with guys named Brooks, mine as well get Kieschnick back to he can pull double duty 1b/bullpen
  22. Rock hard Brouhard
Hey Scott Rolen this is Doug Melvin, what have you been up to? Honestly I would rather see Stephen Parker play third, Morris or Halton play first, say bye bye to Yuni and let Gonzo do what he was intended to do, back up Rickie in the close and late innings, give Segura some rest and pinch hit.
  23. Rock hard Brouhard
Hey who doesnt want the shortstop back who anchored the position whe we came 1 game from the world series but a case could be made for Luke Appling currently having more lateral movement than Yuni B
  24. Rock hard Brouhard
What about Sean Halton? It seems like he is not getting any consideration. Maybe a trade for some who is blocked like Scott Van Slyke. Dont get me wrong I eas all for bringing Gonzalez back, but not as a starting firstbaseman

On the DH thing I am going to agree to disagree. After watching my beloved Brewers in both leagues, I love the NL, but with that being said a lot of careers have been prolonged to the DH like Edgar Martinez, Harold Baines and Paul Molitor. Number one(although I am not sure if this his job) I look at the Hall of Fame.It is one of those things a committee would have to look at but I would like to see a different voting process besides just writers, weather its a mix of fans, writers and Hall of Famers. But I think something has o change. Something needs to be cleaned up with the upcoming classes too. Not sure what to do but my only thought is to make upcoming classes wait an extra 10 years to get in, because people(around them, be it family, friends or teamates) will talk about PEDS the longer a person has to get in. I dont think this has been done in a while. I would like to see weekend daytime world series games. I would aim baseball to the younger viewer, more daytime games, less expensive baseball cards, more programing geared toward kids like the Baseball bunch.I would like to see players sign balls or cards for free. Nothing ticks me off more than paying 25 dollars to someone who is making 25 milion per year. I guess this is just me
