  1. Brewers are in no way to blame for this. They can’t control everything a player puts in body 24/7. He got ulcers... they are nasty & even people with amazing diets can get. Stress is a leading cause. Acidic food & drinks cause it to intensify. You can’t know if you have an ulcer unless a GI doctor sends a camera in. Having had them before, it’s tough. Hard to eat. Feel like you are about to puke all the time, pain in stomach, and so on. Only thing is they could have had him go in earlier. He probably hid it from them & tried to gut it out. They will clear up & weight will come back.
  2. That’s sports talk & just an awful & dumb play for Steelers. They will get a nice pick for him but you will not get moon for a 30+ WR who has branded himself now as a possible cancer. Think after Bell situation & blowing return on that, they’d learn. Nothing good comes from keeping him. Him & Big Ben’s relationship probably will not be repaired. The fighting & on field spats hurts whole team. He has made it so clear he is done with Steelers, nothing good will come of holding on to him. If offered a 1st round pick, I don’t know how they can turn down. They have to care so little about team chemistry & function to do so. Move on from drama that hurts your team. You can let two of your best players just feud & blow up at each. I know if ARod & Adams were at each other’s throats & want nothing to do with each other.... I’m not just riding it out & praying that it doesn’t hurt whole team.
  3. CC mentioned being here 15 years & not seeing many hit that far, called it Prince Fielder territory. Ray is just so explosive! Those HRs he just snaps so quick. Love to see his exit velocity. These hits are just rockets. Have to be 110 plus on HRs. They leave so quickly
  4. In the past 30 years (since 88-89) they've won more than 44 games 5 times -- Not including exactly 44 twice. In their 20 years before that as a franchise, they averaged 49 wins a season, including their 27 win inaugural season. Yeah I must of read it wrong. I was born 87-88 season so they were still good first few years of my life but outside of that, since 91-92 mediocrity has been strong theme. Only 6 winning season in past 27 seasons prior to this year. 2 of the 6 have been in past two seasons. 00-01 & 09-10 are really only two impressive seasons since I’ve even know what basketball was.
  5. Really impressive year for sure. Surprised he was never really given a chance/look with Braves. See if Twins give him an opportunity to be more than just minor league depth.
  6. Is Erceg just a guy who plays better at pro level? He has always excelled in small samples in Spring when in lineup but then is just alright in minors come season. Talent there, still waiting for him to just breakout. If you read all the comments from Turang, he has an impressive baseball mindset for a young kid.
  7. Think I read Bucks had only won 43 games or more 4 times in their history which was kind of shocking to me... they had that at the All Star game this year! Team heading right direction with Horst, Bud, and Giannis!
  8. How do you know Kuechel hasn't been offered a 1-2 year deal at 14-15 million? You're saying that, just like how the media was reporting the best offers to Machado were for $175-200 million. The media and MLB players has kept complaining about how the market is broken, citing examples of Machado and Harper being unsigned. Yet Machado just got a massive contract. It is likely Kuechel has several offers of varying lengths and dollar amounts. I guess I can see how what said could be misunderstood. I was saying I think it is extremely improbable that he hasn’t received a short term deal at a nice & high salary. Players want years. Money is there for them to make & I don’t think that is the issue. The issue to me is the players want the length. Basically saying exact say thing as you.
  9. And really I don’t think money is the biggest issue but players wanting long term deals with guaranteed money. Many of these free agents probably have had nice short term deals with nice price tags but they want the years. Moose & Grandal both settled for the short term deals but many haven’t been willing to. Hard to believe Kuechel hasn’t been offered at least a 1-2 year deal at around 14-15 million. But I’m sure he wants a 3-4 year deal at same price. Due to the Garzas, Lohse, Suppans before him, most teams know a pitch in their 30s statistically drop off before end of that deal.
  10. Only real way to fix spending problem in FA & tank rebuilds is for ML is to install a salary floor based on revenues with maybe a luxury tax penalty where teams will be forces to cover difference if under (us it or pay dead money) I don’t know if owners would be willing to do it but if I’m player association, that’s what I’d push for. It’s good for competitiveness of baseball. Also for owners to give incentive to be more competitive think a bigger playoff overhaul is needed. The second wild card has helped but the more teams competing in September raises revenue. More people attend games in September. There is more money in playoff baseball. I hate 8 teams because like the east in basketball, crappy below .500 teams can sneak in. 6 teams would be nice but hard to do because 2 teams would get byes & that is too long of a lay off unless you have 2 play in games or 2 3 game series to shorten lay off. Baseball season would prob have to cut down to 154 to 156 games. So Overall force teams to pay x amount in salary or they eat money Expanded playoffs increases revenue & competitiveness of teams (leading to spending increase) Not fully on topic but I was thinking about it today & here seemed fitting
  11. Gute took a big hit with fans for not making the Mack splash move. A move like this will get him a lot of credit back as an aggressive GM. After TT a lot of the fans have been desperately wanting a GM who has the balls (think I can use that phrase on here, if not sorry) to make a splash trade. I’m surprising for the trade since traditionally I’m all about drafting & developing. We want to win now in ARod window? Adams & Brown combo make ARod extremely deadly. Adams has crossed into elite category & like him or not... last year was a down year for Brown & that was still 104 catches 1290 yards & 15 tds. He has had over 100 catches 6 straight years. 1300-1800 yards (rounded) and averaging 11 tds in that time. Elite routes, quickness out of breaks, and ball skills. Takes pressure off young WRs to having take major leap. A Rod will thrive. It’s a smaller version of Fitz & Bolden combo Cards have for Warner. Adams & Brown will be nightmare for secondaries & just imagine if Graham bounces back just a little. Even if you trade 30 overall & maybe a later pick, still have high 1st round pick & extra 4th. Think juice is worth the squeeze. We got 35 million in Cap I believe to work with as well.
  12. Long list typo. Clearly Richie Sexson
  13. Ray has all the tools & think he has ability to make consistent enough contact to be a really good player. He has Rickie Weeks written all over him. Uber talented, when seeing ball good he is elite, when he is not seeing it... eek. I loved Weeks even with the rollercoaster extreme highs & lows at the plate. He could be a 40/40 guy.... lefty with 81 games in American Fam (by time he’s in prime) never hurts Just watching that homer, those are some explosive wrist

  15. Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Aguilar Moose Grandal Arcia Pitcher It is insane to think Gandal Moose, or Shaw 7 hitters. This is just a deep lineup. Thames & Pina are good bats to hit righties off bench, Perez is valuable verse lefties. Gamel I think is most valuable since his splits vs both lefties & righties. He’s a solid .270 .720 OPS against either. CC will be creative with lineups as usual but offense should be able to hit pretty consistently. Just need our arms to do job as well.
  16. Machado May be a tool but he is a very good player that many of us really wanted last season. This forum is biased fueled by how awful he rubbed us during playoffs. The dirty plays, not hustling, his comments, & so forth. I dislike the guy, really do but think he will continue to be a good player for at least 7 of those seasons. once he gets to 33-35 years old it’s not unreasonable he still produces. Maybe not at 30 million a year level. Trout is only one worth that money but be a good player. Hope he fails which I don’t do a lot but I just don’t respect a the guy. 30 million is a lot to eat over next decade. Interested in how it pans out.
  17. Giannis is on the verge of being the NBAs biggest star. You just watch this weekend & the game. His personality, game, and everything. Kid is just a star. Like Wade or Curry, he is hard player to dislike. Plays game right, works hard, & have great personalities that fans love. Then add the generational talent. Just have to hope he doesn’t blow it like Lebron with the “Decision” Durant going to Warriors. Even AD has soured fans on him now. Big question is will he be able to stay strong & really build a long term contender here or follow the footsteps of many other stars. Is he a Dirk & DWade (even though he later left before coming back)? He says it is important to him. Time will tell
  18. I don't think the fit is that great. Didn’t seem to hurt them in August, September, & October and worked pretty well. Is Shaw great at 2nd now so I could see fit not being as good as a true 2B but with shifts still a major part of Brewers approach, that doesn’t matter much. I’d DH goes into play in 2020 & he hits as he has over career that mutual option could improve hit more
  19. My eye's on Cameron Roegner, Clayton Andrews, and Scott Sunitsch to really take off... Think all three will never receive any national attention but could real good. People will overlook Andrews due to size. Roegner because he is a soft tosser who can’t get any Ks, & Sunitsch isn’t a big stuff or velo guy to make him standout. I think Andrews is the best. He has the best pure stuff of the 3. If he was at least 5’10 or 6’0 he would get more attention. 6’3 maybe household name. High K arm. So they can all be really big for us in system but all 3 would be lucky to make a top 500-1000 list let alone top 100-200. Just not guys national scouts pay attention to.
  20. Filling out & bulking up are two completely different things & genetics/body type have a lot to do with it. He has filed out like Durant (but shorter). He is a 6’7 ectomoph body type who plays an endurance long twitch sport.... Not sure how much body building & research you have done on topic but his body will mature & add weight naturally but unless he is intentionally trying to get bigger by comunsuming very high amount of calories & adjust workouts to do so, muscle mass is hard to put on or keep on. That includes tone. In track he’d be an 800-1600m runner. Not sure if you have ever seen them before but they are thinner, some tone & skinny fat at worse...great athletes but body type & sport makes it very difficult to add muscle. He’s not fat or over weight. If he has extra weight it’s more natural fill out weight which is a mix or muscle and maybe few more percent of fat but not much. The size he has added still has him playing defense at high level & even if it’s not all solid weight, it helps him be more physical. I don’t think he is soft, he’s still pretty lean but again like Durant he’s not overly toned. Overall, I respectfully completely disagree with most you have said about him. I haven’t noticed or read anything ever to support thought that he is carrying too much bad weight, in poor condition, or that he’s been benched due to any of that. However, everyone sees things differently.
  21. If your goal is to completely wreck the back end of the bullpen by July, this is a great plan. Joe Maddon would be proud. I stated twice I don’t see them doing it that way but was basing it off if they wanted to try bullpenning all year. Starters still go 5 if not 6 if they don’t get in trouble early. Not a true piggyback. But having those 3 long arms that can come in and pitch 2-3 innings & shorten games should keep pen fresh. Figure Peralta, Woody, Guerra can handle 2-3 outings a week getting you 6-7 innings a week. Claudio & last RP eat innings in lower leverage spots. To me this saves need to over pitch the big three & only throw them in leverage situations. I’m still a believer in traditional starters going deep however, that’s not way our rotation is built nor way CC manages. We don’t have guys you can count on giving you 7 innings a night. You kind of just hope for 6. If I had to bet I’d go with Chacin Nelson Anderson Davies Burnes Woodruff 6th man and long guy. This is important with Jimmy coming back & assuming they will manage innings. Anderson & Davies for their off days where they are shelled. You have big 3 in backend with Jeffress Hader Knebel & Claudio looked in for lefty middle relief That’s 10 locks then you will have a battle & cycling of other arms We have 3 guys with no options: Houser Albers Guerra Then option guys like Williams, Wahl, Barnes Peralta Be interesting how it shakes out
  22. By August hopefully Brown will be pitching great in the Burnes role from last year! I’m not worried bout lack of prospects in top 100. Burnes in short time in minors was never really rated up to his talent. Polish, competitiveness & stuff combo of a frontline arm & was pretty underrated. Now he will be major player for years to come. Much of our system is very young. Our guys at the top like Erceg haven’t figured it out, Ray can’t make contact consistently, Dubon tore ACL, outside of board national scouts don’t love Supek as much, Diplan can’t throw strikes, Stokes never gets any love. Taylor lost status after two really bad seasons. So on.... Our hope rest in all the young talent in DSL through the few who will be in Carolina like Henry, Lutz, Feliciano. You hope some of those guys take off. Turang & Lutz I think will take biggest leap this year. One of our young OFs like Gray, Ward, or Rodriquez right behind them
  23. Moose was great at 3B, Shaw did well at 2nd. Huira should never play 1st. DH will be here soon enough so with his average 2B defense.... he can split between 2B and DH. With it looking like DH will be here by at latest 2020.... I think locking Moose up for a 3 year deal could be wise. Shaw, Moose, Aguilar, Huira in 2020 to split up 1b 2B 3B & DH is nice to have
  24. If Brewers want to try for the longer version on 1st out getters think you almost should enter season with: 1st out getters Chacin, Nelson, Burnes, Davies, Anderson 2nd out getters Peralta, Woodruff, Guerra Middle out getters (6th & 7th) Claudio & 1 of Williams, Houser, Wahl, Barnes, Albers High leverage late out getters Hader, Jeffress, Knebel Don’t think it will work out this way but with the 3 long arms who can give you 3-4 innings when needed will help keep keep arms fresh. I don’t think Brewers will do the bullpening again until late in season. Lot of quality arms to pick from! Spring will be fun!
  25. I totally forgot he was drafted as a catcher. IIRC, it was he who told the organization he was changing positions. His fastest path was at 2nd, he saw that, & young 17 year old told Crew that was route he was taking. There is zero doubt outside of maybe Braun, he had maybe biggest ego of any Brewer pick. Like Sheffield status. He wasn’t most fan friendly or team friendly. Attitude was poor with him swearing & overacting a lot that turned many off of him. Bat speed was electric and explosive though. Love the signing. Hurts none. He is still younger at 29. I have little doubt he has grown up a lot since he was a 19-20 year old kid down in Wisconsin. He was having a solid career up until the weird mystery body injury/ feeling not right thing. He left in the beginning of his prime as well. Let’s see what happens. Erceg needs to click finally so competition will be welcomed. Enjoy seeing him find it again & help out the club down the road. Like Jeffress, you never know what can happen.
