  1. I mean he hit a ball 108-mph right up the middle. I’m not sure he really let anyone down on that contact. BTW, that was the second hardest hit ball of the game (for either team) behind only Tyrone Taylor (109.3-mph). Yeah, he smoked that. I barely saw it. Might've ricocheted into the dugout had it hit Brubaker's foot.
  2. Re: Suter...I feel a lot more comfortable with him starting an inning clean. He is a completely different pitcher out of the stretch. I get that there aren't a lot of good options, but the pace is such a part of the deception, and that's gone with inherited runners.
  3. I always picking up Pirates in fantasy because of how well they seem to hit Brewers pitching. Long way to go, though. Think it's gonna take 5 to win tonight.
  4. Shaw didn't look comfy on the fastball. Hit a check swing foul on another FB down the middle. They'll get to this guy, I think. Hope Houser stays sharp.
  5. I think I asked about that, and this is good to know. Thanks. This is one of the fun parts of game threads. Finding and confirming little details about the way the experience of watching baseball feels.
  6. I did too. I have no read on anything today, honestly. I've gotten used to having no idea on low line drives or sharp groundballs, but I harbored the illusion that anything hit above the shift was still decipherable. Not today, anyway.
  7. I don't have the statcast metrics. It looked to me like Garcia's ball was smoked. Hit harder than Shaw's. My eyes must still be adjusting to something like standard baseball.
  8. No Contreras for the Cubs, which makes sense after a night game and hopefully helps diffuse some potential issues.
  9. It sounded to me like they wanted Williams on a schedule. And, since he pitched yesterday, he wasn't coming in today at all.
  10. Boy, the Cubs are stretched thin. Kimbrel is fresh, but having to get 4-out saves in April as a more traditional closer is not a good sign.
  11. Offense just hasn't been able to cash, and Cubs have made good plays. Gotta keep it here.
  12. I think tomorrow is going to be a full-on Sunday special. Be nice to have a series win in your pocket if it comes to that.
  13. Was Cain's quad left or right in the spring? Definitely looked like he was gesturing to the left quad. Something we all expected, but still unfortunate. Hope it's just tightness or a quick 10-day thing. Depth is strong in the OF.
  14. If Yelich needs another day, he should get a start tomorrow, I'd think. Get another LHB in against Hendricks, even if his career splits aren't very pronounced.
  15. I think Williams will be alright. He isn't locating his fastball, though. Seemed to get it closer as the inning went on, at least.
